    One thing that stood out to me on Vision Pro was when you watch movies, it cast light of the video in the space around you that and spacial audio just add that extra touch that pushes it over the top!

      @ryankopinsky  ปีที่แล้ว

      I saw that too! Entertainment seems the most refined use case for Apple Vision Pro so far. Can’t wait to watch immersive content with it 🎉

    One observation. You said Vision Pro’s PPD improvement is 200%. But it should actually be 100% (100% increment means 2X and 200% increment means 3X)

    Right now there is only one headset I would consider. But I won’t buy the vision pro until it’s 2nd or 3rd generation.
    I don’t care about about any other headset.

      What about the first gen makes you want to wait? Btw I think it’s smart to skip any first gen cuz the 2nd or 3rd will be much better and cheaper. Curious to know your thoughts.
      I’m buying the first gen because it’s part of my job haha.

    Hey Ryan i was wondering if you know how to have a database to communicate with the visionOS. It seems that Firebase is only available to iOS not visionOS. Seems like something that is a must have for the majority of apps especially for entertainment

    • @ryankopinsky
      @ryankopinsky  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t see why Firebase wouldn’t be available for visionOS. Firebase can be installed using Swift Package Manager and SwiftUI apps def work with Firebase. I have a course on SwiftUI and RealityKit that uses Firebase as the cloud database. Feel free to check it out @RealitySchool.
      Is there specific documentation from Firebase stating that it’s not compatible with visionOS?

    I’m wondering if you’ve applied for a developer’s kit yet. I did myself, but without any apps on the App Store, my chances of getting approved are less.

    • @ryankopinsky
      @ryankopinsky  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I received the notification about dev kit applications opening up but I haven’t applied and don’t intend to. The agreement that Apple requires you to sign in order to apply is very restrictive (which I totally understand). Signing that agreement would mean I won’t be able to create any content without perceived conflict of interest or perceived breach of non disclosure. So I’ll be patiently waiting for getting my retail unit on day one. I sincerely hope u get one tho - it’ll be an exciting headstart!!

    Thank you for your breakdown of this category of headset features! Very helpful for those of us not well versed in the VR space. If I had the discretionary money, I would definitely buy an extra Vision pro, leave it boxed up, and store as an investment. As a 3d AR developer, I will do whatever I can to save for the one coming out next year. On that note, I’m checking for your priceless AR tutorials daily, as you are the only one creating such quality content at the moment. In the mean time, the Udemy Swift tutorials are getting me primed for your next batch of tutorials.

      My pleasure! I got a little carried away with doing the research for this video so glad to hear you enjoyed it.
      Interesting idea about the sealed-in-box for the Vision Pro. I’m sure some people will do it. In 10 years it might be worth quite a penny. 🤔
      I’ll be creating educational content for Vision developers soon but it’ll take some time to be published. Any video I make I want it to be truly valuable for our community, not making videos for video making’s sake :)
      If you haven’t checked out my SwiftUI and RealityKit course, that would be a great place to start. The course teaches the foundational concepts that my future visionOS videos will definitely rely on.
      Thank you so much for your support and thoughtful comments on my videos 🙏🏼

    No mention of the psvr2?

    • @ryankopinsky
      @ryankopinsky  ปีที่แล้ว

      I considered including it but it would rank poorly as a general purpose mixed reality headset. What would you rate the PSVR2?

    • @josephwilliams3467
      @josephwilliams3467 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ryankopinsky Yes this is true. Sony has decided to focus solely on gaming. The result though is a phenomenal VR gaming experience. Easily the best option on the market right now for that one use case. I don't touch my Quest 2 anymore. Sony nailed eye tracking and haptics and the graphics powered by the PS5 may make it hard for me to go back to stand alone devices (for gaming). For non gaming use I suspect that I will really want the Apple Vision Pro but will be priced out and pushed towards the quest 3. I will wait on reviews before deciding whether the quest 3 actually has any compelling non gaming usecases. After trying out apps like Horizon Workrooms on my quest 2 I'm very sceptical meta will be able to pull it off

    I’ve been telling people about the Varjo headset and just to add, they have a more consumer version that’s around 2k. With that said, Apple actually used the Varjo XR3 as a benchmark device. Best believe Apple is going for that niche market as well! Mainly on the enterprise level, flight simulators, etc.

    • @ryankopinsky
      @ryankopinsky  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I explored the Varjo Aero too but that is only a VR device. The XR-3 is their mixed reality device.
      I’ve heard rumors that Apple is or used to be Varjo’s biggest customer haha. I guess they used the XR3 to prototype experiences / use cases while the Vision Pro hardware was still in early design stages.
      I’m very curious to see what Varjo’s next move will be now that Apple Vision Pro has been announced. Will they reduce their prices or make even better headsets for similar price points?

    • @EricSummers78
      @EricSummers78 ปีที่แล้ว

      Apple has a plan to move beyond niche and not stay in that space though. They will still sell all they can make at the price point.

    For the price in my opinion meta quest 3 has way more value compare to Apple vision pro. You actually have way more freedoms in what you can do with quest 3. Meta quest 3 has two controller that great for gaming and interteiment and multimedia and a lot more. Also you have full handtracking if you dont want to use your controller. Also the library of the meta is way more vr apps and games compare to the apple. I think apple created this headset only for certain people who do a business things. Unlike meta quest 3 this headset is not for regular consumers. And also because of the 3500$ price tag apple can't compete to meta in terms of selling their headsets. Of course meta quest 3 sells a lot more than a apple headsets because of the 500$ price tag and the great librery of gaming and apps for all kind of people. Also the apple os is so closed and limited to only what's apple want you to do with their headset. But quest 3 has a android os and you have a lot of freedom with this headset and you can do anything you want like installing 3rd party apps. Connecting the headset to the pc for a great librery of pcvr games and apps. A lot of mods for your games and apps that you can have a lot of fun with them. and alot mor things you can do with meta quest 3. Im not saying apple vison pro is bad. This is a great high-class headset for business people or the rich people who like apple product's and work with apple products and they want to add another apple product in their collection.

    I love this series of episodes and look forward to a day when there's a price-accessible version of the Vision Pro. No other headset interests me as much because we haven't seen such fluid navigation and interface design yet. Coupled with full computing capabilities, the Vision Pro has a polish we have yet to see in an XR headset.
    Maybe a theoretical Google or Samsung Vision Pro competitor would provide a similar experience, but even then, it would lack integration with the Apple ecosystem. This product holds a particularly special position. However, it ultimately boils down to a toy for the rich, especially at its current price.

    • @ryankopinsky
      @ryankopinsky  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the thoughtful comment! Vision Pro indeed feels like it’s in a category of its own.
      Samsung, Google and Qualcomm have partnered to work on a Vision Pro competitor (likely called Galaxy Glasses). That’s probably the closest competition Vision Pro will see in the next two years. The latest reporting on that was that Samsung had to go back to the drawing board because it wasn’t as capable as Apple’s headset. The display panels for example were not nearly the 4K resolution of the Vision Pro.
      This first gen Apple Vision Pro is too expensive and likely still too heavy for all day use. But if Apple can fix that (which I believe they can) they have a winner (especially considering their ecosystem like you mentioned).
      Fingers crossed they launch a Vision Air in 2025 that is much more affordable than the Pro while still retaining the core functionality and premium feel 🥽

    • @Aggie4life77
      @Aggie4life77 ปีที่แล้ว

      Samsung and Google won’t be able to offer a similar product for cheaper. When I say cheaper, i mean significantly cheaper like $999 or maybe $1500. The tech is too expensive.

    • @ryankopinsky
      @ryankopinsky  ปีที่แล้ว

      I expect the Samsung headset to be in the $1999 - $2499 price range. They won’t have a feature like EyeSight but will match the resolution of the microOLED panels.
      The mid tier mixed reality headsets ($750 - $2000) won’t be very interesting in the short term. Unless manufacturers severely discount them to gain a competitive advantage.
      Even with huge discounts the competition will struggle to catch up with Apple. The UI and UX of AVP is way ahead of any other headset.

    • @Aggie4life77
      @Aggie4life77 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ryankopinsky the base software will be miles ahead as well. It was genius!! It was like they planned that all along. Think about it. You have all the iPad apps available which all will work perfect with the AVP eye tracking input. Android VR software just won’t be up to speed and we all know Android tablet apps aren’t great.
      I do agree with you on the Samsung price point, but they better get that out quick. I really believe that in 2025, Apple will be releasing a cheaper AP.

    🥽 goggles quickly became a frequently used emoji with all the content you’re putting out 😂
    Curious where you see glasses such as the XREAL fitting into the considerations in an entry or travel category. Have you tried them?

    • @ryankopinsky
      @ryankopinsky  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha let’s make 🥽 emoji of the year 🤣
      I haven’t tried XREAL Air yet but there is an entire category of AR/XR devices that this video doesn’t consider. All the headsets I focused on have AR enabled through video passthrough but the other way to do AR is optical passthrough (using waveguide displays for example).
      I hesitate to give my opinion on XREAL without having tried them but my general thoughts are that the glasses are still too bulky and don’t really do AR well. It’s practically a 100in display in front of you.
      My current thinking is that the way to get people into XR is to immerse and wow them. Optical solutions don’t have the field of view or visual fidelity to do that. In the early days Vision Pro will replace people’s TVs and monitors and for some it might even become their main computing device. That’s how we get the masses into XR and then we work on making it more affordable and smaller/lighter.
      Entry level or travel alternative to Vision Pro is likely a Quest 3. If AR is the only thing of interest, maybe something like an XREAL could work. I might need to try it and review it in the podcast 🤔
