A time i downloaded FL studio and made some nice beats in just one day from 0 knowledge about, one of them sounded like music for a fashion show, the second one sounded like a music to play some competitive sports and the last one sounded like a beat for a love song. It was 2 years ago. I tried to do the same now, but I have been trying for 3 days to get something similar to those 3 rhythms, but it became difficult. I don't know how I learned so quickly that day 2 years ago.
Disappointed as a drummer because he doesn't even know actual basics and rudiments I bet he can't play double strokes or any rudiment besides from singles.
Its because you have to use phones with a cable to avoid any delay while playing this app, bluetooth devices have a little processing time which make them take longer to send you the sound.
This is how I began to learn the real drums no joke. That and air drumming. By the time I sat on a kit I could actually play a basic groove easily. Obviously it took a lot of practice on the real kit to get better, but nonetheless this is a fun and cool way to learn the basics in your brain that you could later emulate on the kit.
You can't buy a phone that will run that app smoothly enough to keep real time for a year for 100 bucks. I know. I only spend 200 bucks max. They get stiff and laggy fairly quickly. A $600 phone is the same price as a kit to get started. And they sell muting equipment and compact versions which are cheaper. It's a hobby and an art. Sure you can use Crayola watercolors to paint the beach. But when a dude busts out the easel the palet the 15 brushes, the knife, the tools, and different papers as well as specific paints. It's going down. But honestly music isn't for everyone electronics are. Instant gratification. I've played guitar for 12 years and honestly when anyone says they wanna learn. No they don't. They wanna play it but don't want to spend an hour a day learning for years to be able to. Understandable. Learning music sucks fucking ass for awhile at first. Dedication. And furthermore even those who can play, doesn't mean they can make it. I know guys who can play that polyphia shit which is a technical nightmare but their own music sounds like trash. Playing something is not the same as understanding it. Here we can see that. He can emulate the notes and put em in his memory bank. But being able to follow where the story goes and how to compliment it is more than practice. You just gotta be born knowing how it works. Like a weird language.
As a drummer who plays hand drums and a kit, i gotta say it's awesome that this app offers so much room for learning and expression available to people who may not have have the space, budget or time for traditional choices like a conventional set. But so many people globally can access smartphones and find at least 3 minutes to play at least a few times a week. Mobile technology at its best, empowering the everyday folk everywhere 😊
