John here I worked for a glass company for 32 years . They make a caulking gun with more mechanical advantage much easier to squeeze relatively inexpensive. Thanks for the videos
Hello John, you are so welcome! Yep, the right gun would make life much easier. Please keep liking and watching!
my daughters car got both windshield and back glass blown out by baseball size hail... i build transmissions for a junkyard so they gave me the glass free... been told to heat the urethane first and electric gun... i found the Ryobi 18v at home depot was only $39 on sale...that thing worked great actually came out a little to fast... i spent more time vacuuming glass then installing the windows... cheers... keep up the geat work...

It's a shame we all lose our KUNG-FU GRIP. Thanks to you, I have been getting my Belair Upholstered from scratch. I'm not a PRO, I tell everybody, I'm SLOW. But it's getting done. Thanks, Richard.

Great result!! 👏👏👏
As I have read in another comment, there are other types of caulking guns which are more robust, meant for thicker adhesives or silicones, with a different design, that allows to use them easier, with less force. Here in Spain, a normal gun costs between 2 and 5 dollars and the stronger one about 15 - 20 dollars, and they make life easier, so I strongly recommend you to get one, for next similar job 😉😉
Hello Delta, It is not very often I have to use Urethane. I guess that is why I never sought out a better caulk gun. I like your recommendation though! Please keep liking and watching!
@@oldschoolautoupholstery 👍👍👍 Good to know about the available options, just in case, as the stronger gun comes handy also for household repairs with regular silicone cartridges, as they can be applied using less force, which makes the operation more accurate 😉
@@deltajohnny Hello Delda, Great! I'll look into that one. Please keep liking and watching!
I guess this job tops it all! 💯🗽🇺🇸

Hello Doo, I am so glad you watched to the end! Thanks forever more. Please keep liking and watching!
Had this issue when I was young and unfamiliar with glass and convertible tops or soft tops. Person used airplane glue and while it worked it wasn’t pretty.
Hello Hiclite, Sometimes we do to get it done right? Please keep liking and watching!
You have some good teaching vids for a new beginner. Would you consider doing a metal frame tractor seat reupholster?
Hello Rufus, Thank you so much for saying so. I would consider if it really was an upholstered seat and not a plastic molded seat. And if you were near me in Texas. If not, just Google "Upholstery shop near me". Please keep liking and watching!
I wonder if there aren't air or battery operated caulk guns. Sometimes you need super human strength to get any meaningful amount out.
Hello The, well, the glass installers have the right machine, I don't. Please keep liking and watching!
I have often wondered how this repair was done.
Hello Dennis, It is a rarity, but can be done. Usually people will buy a new top. Please keep liking and watching!
Weld it!!
Hello Unfinished, well, you could always try. Hehe. Please keep liking and watching!
There are now battery caulk guns

Hey Richard would it help to warm up the tube to make the urethane flow a little better or would that make things more difficult? looks like you were struggling a little.
Hello, Guzzy, Warming does little for the flow. The glass guys use a gun that I don't have. Please keep liking and watching!
Can I use this on the clear vinyl window or do you recommend another adhesive?
Hello Martinez, I have never used Urethane on a plastic window. I would imagine it would work as the Urethane is very strong. Please keep liking and watching!
Hello i have a 94 cadillac fleetwood top need to be replaced. The top is cracked. Do those cars come with/ without padding? If so do you know a wen site where i can get the padding for it and also the top? I know topsonlie is 1 but i dont think i need to pay 400 for it lol. If i had to pay it i would.
Hello The, I am pretty sure all Cadillacs have padded tops. Try B-D co. in Denver Colorado. Please keep liking and watching!
Seems like a paid promotion?
I love your videos, but this one is a bit off-topic. Besides that, there are plenty of products available from different manufacturers for windshield installation. Silka?

Heat up that tube of urethane... Put it in a bucket of hot water or in the sun. You won't have to squeeze so hard.
Hello User, What a dummy am I? I am working in an air conditioned space and it is so hot outside. Hehe, Please keep liking and watching!
