  • The countless forms and colours that can be adopted by the different species of insect that inhabit the world show us that, far from being a caprice of Nature, they are the result of a long process. The success of these creatures began after the first forms of life made the leap from the sea to the land, which forced Nature to develop the most varied morphologies. These physical modifications directed adaptation to the planet’s different environments. Some species of butterfly are able to refract the light that reaches their wings’ scales, creating beautiful shades of colour due to their pigments’ structure; but the presence of scales is not only aesthetic, they serve as effective indicators while flying. Certain species of beetle have such spectacular external skeletons that they look like authentic war machines; others, because of their coloration, seem to be designed to enrich the most wonderful jewellery collection, jewels assembled by some visionary craftsman committed to finding new and prodigious forms of beauty … The possibilities of the visual language that contains their dazzling designs and colours create an endless spectacle. All the Earth’s cultures have drawn on the insects’ image. The Egyptians attributed a fabulous power to certain beetles, considering them to be symbols of immortality and of the forces that governed the stars. The Maya, fascinated, worshipped and turned them into the centre and focus of innumerable legends. There are references in Greek mythology, in Christian culture…
In the wars of medieval Europe, German peasants thought, as tradition affirmed, that fire was spread by beetles, the Flying Deer that carried in its powerful jaws burning cinders with which to inflame the night … Insects have been the source of thousands of stories, myths and legends; we only have to look to our childhood memories for a forgotten story … The wings of a butterfly, like a lighthouse placed at one of the Earth’s limits, take us back in our memories.

Thank you for creating this incredibly beautiful trilogy. The camera work is exquisite, and truly reveals the wonder of these living jewels. The script and narration draws you into the world of insects in a deep and intimate way. I have always been fascinated by the amazing beauty and versatility, as well as the sturdiness and variety to be found in the Kingdom of six legged creatures. I am certain this ode to bugs will inspire some budding entomologists to carry this science into the future, there is still so much we have yet to learn.🖤🇨🇦

@@carryoncarrion4525 my pleasure. Making them in metal or wax for casting is fun, and you can set gems in them to sparkle. The Art Noveau period has some amazing pieces depicting insects and bugs, especially Rene Lalique. You will be drooling if you search them.🖤🇨🇦

As with all living creatures, I've always wondered what the different insects purpose in nature is. They are not just here to procreate and spread about.
This particular video is the first one of the "Secrets of Nature" series I've seen. The videography is superb, narration excellent, and although a bit drawn out quite interesting.
I think i will subscribe, just out of my curiosity about nature. ;-)

Robert, I subscribed around the same time you did, and I must say, for the most part, they produce the kind of quality I look for. I agree with you regarding the videography and narration, and the music was well matched whilst being unobtrusive. Poor sound balance has ruined many otherwise good documentaries.🖤🇨🇦

I love your comment, "they are not just here to procreate and spread about." It's such a simple truth but in all my years of appreciating and loving insects, I find it's a rarely mentioned thought, though every documentary (usually) we see only mentions their niche as in depth as that, just here to procreate. That's the untold magic, they can fill just about any niche imaginable just usually in a micro environment :) let the imagination free: micro apex predators, decomposers, pollinators and so much more. Never stop wondering :)

Pretty pictures, but this video has perhaps the worst narration of any nature video I've ever seen. The only thing that insects have in common are their number of legs? Really? The magic of the gift of flight? Are you kidding? Whomever wrote the script needs to be tested for drugs.

The single most important message of all prophets to their people was to worship God alone and none else and to follow His teachings. All of them, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Ishmael, Moses, Aaron, David, Solomon, Jesus, Muhammad and others, in addition to those we do not know - invited people to worship God and shun false gods.
Moses declared:"Hear, O Israel The Lord our God is one Lord."(Deuteronomy 6:4). This was repeated 1500years later by Jesus, when he said: "The first of all the commandments is, ‘Hear, O Israel; the Lord our God is one Lord.’(Mark 12:29)
So, the greatest commandment, the most important belief according to Jesus, is that God is one. If Jesus was God he would have said, ‘I am God, worship me.’ Instead, he merely repeated a verse from the Old Testament confirming that God is One.
Jesus did not say, "I am God." There is not a single text in the Bible. Jesus says, "I am God." He said more than thirty times that he is a prophet and messenger. He said he's human more than 82 times. This is what the Qur'an says that Jesus is the Messenger of God.
This aligns with the mission of Jesus, as taught in Islam, where Jesus was sent to the Children of Israel to confirm the message of the past Prophets - to believe in the One True God.
most Christians nowadays believe in trinity.. Jesus said i came not to destroy the commandments of moses i came just to fulfill.
Muslims reject the Christian belief that God is a Trinity, not only because the Quran rejects it, but also because if this was God’s true nature, He would have clearly revealed it to Abraham, Noah, Jesus and all of the other prophets.
ISLAM is the submission in worship to Allah Alone and it is the essence of all the Messages sent to all nations before us. Allah is All-Just and All-Wise. He does not intend confusion for His Creation. The religion accepted to Him is the one chosen by Him. Its essence must be One, because He is One. It is free from geographical, racist, and status oriented concepts. It is Perfect and it is the complete way of life. All these qualities are chosen by Allah in His Only Religion: Islam. Its details are in in the Qur’an, read it and come with an open heart because none can expose better than the World of Allah. The Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad. He did not author it. He was unlettered. Its translation is available in many languages in bookstores or in an Islamic Center close to you. Take the time to read it and come/call the Islamic Center, or speak to someone who re-verted and submitted to Allah Alone.

What would you do without the theory of evolution? I guess the only other alternative is creative design. And for you that would never do, so you stubbornly and arrogantly stick to a theory that has been disproven back in the 80s. You all have given scientists a bad name

    • @angelique7618

Finally! Someone who is educated enough to know darwin was a fool. He did not even prove his 'theory'!
Genesis is history. Our world is young, our Creator is God, Jesus is our Savior.
