I know that Strokes Gained analysis says that the further you can hit the ball off the tee, the more likely you are to score lower, but if you’re driver is consistently putting you in bad places… It think you guys would have nailed a sub-36 round if you played to a comfortable wedge/short iron distance from the green, instead of leaving awkward chipping or pitching distances or bunker shots. A 480 yard par 5 can be an easy 5i/5i/Gw/Pu for a shot at birdie/stress-free par, or a difficult Dr/Pw/7i/Lw/Pu for stressful par/likely bogie. Plan the hole from green to tee, taking into account the widest parts of the fairway and you’ll be mid handicappers in no time… … once you get a short game.😂
