One of the great memories of my life happened in 1967. Jimmy was booked for a series of 3 shows in Salt Lake City. On a Wednesday night before the shows, there was a reception for Jimmy and I was there. He walked into the room and just lit it up. Flirting with the ladies, joking with the guys, he gathered us all around a piano and had us singing along with "Inka Dinka Do". Later I shook his hand and thanked him for the joy he brought. I saw the opening show, with Jackson, and loved it!
Thanks Jim for visiting my site and for your comment. Jimmy & Eddy used to play the Mapes Hotel in Reno over the July 4th holiday in the 1950s. I would go with my friends parents to see him. They always brought down the house. On occasion Jimmy would be seen walking the steets of the city, always with a showgirl on each arm.
Great song. Durante does it so well. And nice seeing Harry James as well. Jimmy was a remarkable guy. He partnered with dancer Lou Clayton and singer Eddie Jackson, and though Jimmy was clearly the star of the trio, he was selfless enough to take third billing as the act was always known as Clayton, Jackson and Durante. Jimmy was also a very close to, and a friend from boyhood with the great Eddie Cantor.
#ugottalisten2b4udie C Well, this is one of those songs that you hear now and then, Dm7 G7 You don't know just where_ and you don't know just when. Dm7 G7 Dm7 It's one of those songs that are over and then,It's one of those songs that start playin' again. Yes, it's just one of those songs that you hear for awhile. That comes into fashion then goes out of style. It's one of those songs that you think you forgot,But it's one of those songs you cannot.
