@@robertcottam8824 I remember early to mid nineties getting Jimmy white snooker on the sega megadrive at Xmas and getting a little table as well. I did like him. He was a bit of a wizard. Did some absolute mad stuff that others simply couldn't. But sadly, he didn't get it done when it really mattered.
I'm gutted for him that he never won it. It's great that he's still in the game as a pundit

@@johnslattery6194 ....the funny thing about winning titles is that you have to see it through till the end and actually win it for them to count. For instance, you say 'he was the better player in two of them', well in '94 he most definitely wasn't the better player for the final ten frames, where he blew a 14 - 8 lead, unfortunately...

@@hulldanfan Even Steve himself would say that. He says as much when he's playing a friendly with Hendry on here. At his very best though, i.e when he thrashed Parrot in the World Final, yes he could live with them.

Steve is too modest, but ROS said that the difference Davis made was in unprecedented accuracy and commitment to the shots, compared to the 'old guys' at the time (a generalization, of course) and as he said that, he actually mimed a wobbly cue action. Higgins was the maverick, he could have been as successful as ROS if he'd just practiced more, and had less 'distractions'.
That's called a 'masse' shot, a term seldom heard of in the modern game.

@biggerissues6085 Hendry was another level, even to Ronnie. Probably the most complete player the game has ever had.
i doubt its the best i have seen hurricANE HIGGENS do better shots, however the modern players didnt need to play shots like that because they have better cue ball control

Prime Jimmy was incredible, shame Stephen Hendry was on the scene at the same time otherwise Jimmy could have won atleats 6 World titles.
It was just an exhibition shot. Jimmy was 36 points up with 22 on the table against 17 year old Ronnie. To be a "best" shot, it needs to mean something.
Jimmy White was the double of a guy from Northern Ireland Trevor Workman. Both very pleasant.
I was also, even asked to be a 'lookalike' by an agent.

If you like snooker and want to see one of the closest matches ever......... Go to TH-cam and type in semi final, world championship Jimmy white verses Alex Higgins. Alex Higgins was beaten until Jimmy as usual im afraid to say, missed a critical Ball to through to the final. If you think of the pressure that Alex Higgins was under because he was going home, some of the shots in that frame and match were incredible! But watch out for that blue and the control that he put on the white.

Best player never to win the World Championship. That shot is just insane to anyone that has ever played.
It also goes to show that winning is not the only thing that matters and "people only remember winners" is false. We all remember Jimmy White. His fame is hardly below Hendry's. He's one of the greatest of all time. Of course, we all wish he had won at least one WC.

❤terrific shot. For me It was Higgins blue in World Championship 1982 in Semi final. Higgins was the BEST EVER IVE SEEN. ALTHOUGH IT WAS ONLY A SHORT TIME. RONNIE is the most consistent at the top. I dont like his blasae attitude towards the tour of snooker that is in place. Needs to remember his roots . He is ENGLISH
