Thanks to NIL (aka free agency) “parity” is quickly becoming a real thing and soon the playing field will almost be as leveled as the NFL.

When they were FBS no one wanted to play there. Yeah it was a D1 offer but if you wanted eyes on you there was no chance that was gonna happen in Idaho for a couple reasons. Not good enough for mountain West so had to run it in independent/sun belt which lead to no regional rivalries and no reason to televise their games. The culture was terrible, not even in terms of winning but just being somewhat competitive. Everyone knew blowout losses were the standard there. No local support, students loved to tailgate but had no interest in attending the games even with free attendance (unless a good team came through then you would go to watch them). Arena was basically empty by the 2nd quarter to half time. It was so bad at times we had to lie on attendance numbers so it wouldn't look so bad. Paul Petrino running any competent coach or player out of there. I used to hear horror stories from players about how he treated them and the staff. Any decent recruit in Idaho would just go to Boise State.
They got cut from the Sun Belt. They never belonged in FBS. Not even a mid 3⭐recruit would want to play for school in sasquatch territory outside civilization.

Buckeye fan here. I'm very surprised at how average the Ducks looked on Saturday. I'm sure that they will be ready to take on my Buckeyes, but if they play against OSU the way they played against Idaho, I'm sorry to say that it will be a long , long day and a 41-10 loss for them.

It's the first game of the season, so I don't think anyone shouldn't look too much into it, and Oregon is #3 for a reason. I'm just saying that if they don't bring their A game, it could get ugly . Quite frankly, if OSU doesn't come prepared, the opposite can happen. Playing in Eugene is tough and depends on how both teams are playing, and with everything being equal, I'd say OSU wins 34-27. Appreciate you calling me out on this one. Yeah, I'll take the bet.
@@j.j.kucala9835 Gotcha. Yeah it’s tough to tell in week 1 sometimes. In 2021 Oregon almost lost to Fresno State and went on to beat Ohio State the next week. Sure that Fresno State was better than Idaho but Ohio State was far better than Fresno State. I was in at -31, -7 is far more likely and I wouldn’t put money on either side with that line.

They got destroyed by a better coached husky team who had the overall weaker roster. The only two games where the talent was even close they lost. Lanning had like one good game against chip and UCLA his rookie season and has been considered a top coach ever since.

I’m glad they got through this game with some struggles. They came in all hyped up and got smacked in the mouths. Better to struggle early to make you better later.
