    I remember being a young kid, biking to the library to grab Cujo and Pet Sematary as a bet bc at the time my mom said if i made it through both books she'd take me to see PS2, bc i had a crush on Edward Furlong 😂 obviously both books being way more graphic than that terrible film. I was 9 at the time. Only Kubrick, DePalma, Carpenter & Frank Darabont did King justice and they just need to leave him alone at this point unless it's a well done HBO series

    Saw this one last night and when she took out the hockey stick I had a flashback to Joseph complaining about it and it just took me out 😂... and yes my thoughts were the same "Girl, you just saw him be shot by 20 shotguns and you're gonna use a hockey stick? 💀" ... I did think some of the creepy dark scenes were good though, and how they tried to make him into some kind of ancient eldritch abomination (reminded me of Empty Man)... interesting but that felt a bit undercooked 😭

    TLDR? Lol. As a clinician, I appreciated the fact that the therapist was portrayed as incredibly burnt out. We are human too - his arc and struggle felt honest, though yes, also incredibly precarious and likely damaging to those he would serve. I was frustrated by his rigidity, nonetheless, but I also understood the realistic paradox of the field being incredibly demanding, even when providers are going through big, painful life milestones (especially if they have their own business/practice and have no other income to rely on). Also, since the family members' therapy started as a dyad, not an individual therapy (the two sisters), there is more wiggle room to allow it to morph into a family therapy; I. think it was implied that the dad was invited to join, but in his burnout, was significantly de-prioritizing it/avoiding dealing with grief. If the therapist was only the youngest girl's therapist, in actuality, then yes, it would be completely inappropriate for the father to be taking up that much space in the last scene. Unfortunately, the mental health system just is so broken, it doesn't feel this hard to believe that a clinician would be reaching this point, if he didn't have more adequate supports or self-care, or connection to other providers. As far as HIPAA violations, you all hit the nail on the head; additionally, it is precarious to have a practice in one's actual home/not an ADU; at some point you do have to look past the ways that writers make choices in order to propel the story. I know if I gave into thinking about all the plot holes (in terms of what realistic therapy/the governing rules looks like), I'd literally never enjoy a horror film. FWIW, the coldness/tension of some behavioral interventions like the exposure session also felt somewhat realistic; a lot of our interventions and the negative impacts they have on younger people go unexamined, for those who work in a very purist, behavioral fashion with no humanity. I think it also served the story.

    Three things about Stephen King;
    1 he has some good work, but many of them are basically the same story remixed (Misery, The Shining, and Cujo are essentially the same story).
    2 his batting average sucks. He has hundreds of stories, but many of them are not great.
    3 he tends to have a lot of filler, then the meat and potatoes are at the tail end of the story.

    I hated the movie with a burning passion! They completely erased what boogeyman symbolizes and replaced it with just another mindless stock movie monster. The bogeyman is an intelligent being this creature behaved like a tactless monster! How could this thing have existed forever just to be defeated by a little girl with gas a lighter and her mom’s ghost?! This thing should be unbeatable . That’s what scary about the bogeyman. It’s like a an unstoppable force of nature and evil but this was just a animal with shadow powers and mimicry that was poorly used.
