This is more a tutorial on how to use the Vassal module than how to play the game. Since Compass refuses to release a Vassal module until several months after the game is published, the tutorial is of limited use. And it's not New Muh-DRID, it's New MAD-rid. See Example 2 in your own rulebook. Still on the fence about getting this game. The topic interests me, but the board seems very cluttered. Update: Ordered it anyway.
This Learn to Play walks you through playing the printed game by the rules, the additional information on the Vassal commands for the module is an added benefit. We've done this in many of the Learn to Plays, so it's nothing new. As for Merv's pronunciation of New Madrid, you may have noticed he's from the UK so different accents and all. Just like here in the States, east coast/west coast or north/south, pronunciations vary.
I watched this video expecting to learn how to play *the game*, not learn how to use an unavailable Vassal module. Once the module is released to the general public, then show us how to use it. Until that time the Vassal info is just extraneous clutter and a waste of time, hardly “an added benefit.” Many of your other videos have been very helpful. This one, not so much. The narrator's fault not yours. Yes, pronunciations do vary. But just as there's a right way and a wrong way to interpret the Grant rules, there's a correct way and an incorrect way to pronounce New Madrid whether you're from the UK or Mongolia. The mistake is especially glaring since page 4 of the rules explicitly details the correct pronunciation.
It's a bit slower here because the LTP breaks down all of the steps, plus it is a multi-step process when doing amphib landings etc. So, it makes sense but it does flow better and more quickly once you're familiar with it.
I just got this game these videos help alot.
The narrator's voice reminds me of actor Brian Cox.
He kind of does doesn't he? :)

Combat seems a bit long.
