I figured something out. It's not that Maeve and Johnny have a double standard; they don't approve of Pat sleeping around, (if in fact he does; just because he dates a lot of women, doesn't mean he sleeps with all of them) but they know his character is different from Mary's. He doesn't take things to heart, the way she does, so he won't be hurt, like she will.
I just started watching..I love this show .. I love Santa Barbara as well .. can't find episodes in English after episode 155 ..I was hooked .. I need to no who killed Channing.

I had the same issue, Santa Barbara was my favorite soap growing up, I started to watched it on You Tube but then they deleted the episodes, and then couldn't find them in English. @debrataylor2215 this was pretty shocking. Considering they were devout Catholics, Mary was expected to live at home til marriage and certainly no sex and birth control.
Something else I thought of: Mary's sister, Siobhan, is the free-spirited type, and I'm sure her parents don't think she's a virgin, but again, she's a different type than Mary and won't be so vulnerable to getting hurt. And in truth: people will say they have a right to live their life the way they want, but I'll bet if their parents agreed without a problem, they'd be disappointed. We're all hypocrites, in one way or another.
This Frank was the worst one. It gets better. But Jill..ugh! I know Dee was basically manic depressive which they didn't do anything about then. But what Frank and Jill are doing is wrong b
