Honestly, as weird as this sounds, I relate a lot to Scott with collecting these little Holiday Gift Guides. Whenever I experience seasonal depression or just holiday blues, I always look for little things like this to fill me with nostalgia of a simpler time. I know it seems strange, and I may be the only one who does this, but it's something that I just love to do.
The trilogy is complete

That's exactly what I thought when I first saw YKW 1. "Oh this is just another Pokemon rip-off", but when I actually got the game, I was very surprised. I hope 4 gets localized too (Even though that's looking less and less likely since level 5 shut down all of their studios outside of Japan)

@@studioarentain3960 I haven't exactly seen hours upon hours of the actual gameplay of Yokai Watch, but it never struck me as a "Pokemon Ripoff", more like "Shin Megami Tensei Jr."

Man yokai watch was such an underappreciated game. I love that series.
I think it didn't work in the West because they were trying to make marketing very edgy and very similar to Pokémon, they didn't make yo-kai watch look like his own thing, (hasbro and disney helped too much for that to happen) nintendo just did a huge advertisement for this game
@@chocolixo I don't remember the marketing itself comparing it to Pokemon.
There's just a stigma towards monster catching games were reviewers and the general public will inevitably compare it to Pokemon.
It's why series like Digimon also fell off the radar in the west.
@@Klonoahedgehog marketing didn't compare to pokémon, they just tried to make it look a lot like it, another thing is that they made cringy commercials very often, making people believe that the game is for teen titans go kids or whatever

Love the Yokai watch games. I actually think it did several things better than the stale Pokemon releases, and the graphics in yw are much better than Pokemon. Which is sad considering level 5 is much smaller than game freak

I loved the New 3ds, it meshed with my hands perfectly. I had a Mario bundle that lasted me years before it was stolen. I was super sad because the 3ds was my life back then, it’s what got me to find Scott. I love the 3ds and I am glad it was able to have a peaceful end.
I love Scott's Stash. It's like we get to see both sides of the same coin. Here we get the more grounded Scott that's easy to connect with and over on the main channel we get the online persona. The hyperactive Scott that throws his Chibi Robo zip lash copies down the drain and evades taxes. Scott the Woz really is the ultimate youtuber!

Man, I love these little videos - that take a look into different years of gaming. Even when it’s only referencing stuff that’s not too old, there’s always little things you have forgotten about.
Also, screw haters of the 3D on the 3DS. (In particular, the new 3DS)
I never understood why so many people still turned off the 3D all of the time.

One thing I like about the new Nintendo era is the anticipation of a Triple A game release,for me being a newer switch owner,I haven't really experienced much of it,but I was in on the hype for Mario Maker 2. Imagine this: you wake up one day,and you start watching TV,you hear the click of the switch commercials,and see an announcement for a new main title game! You check your social feed and see the hype for the game,and you feel the childlike joy of waiting for a new games release. Idk if its just me,but its just something I thought abt

I honestly feel bad for people like Scott who didn't grow up in the Wii U/3DS era. They are easily the best Nintendo consoles.
Switch blows both of them out of the water but I do also have nostalgia for the commercials and owned a Wii U (never a 3DS though)
I remember seeing Yokai Watch in this and thinking “Huh, it’s just gonna be another series I don’t really care about.” Fast forward 5 years later and now it’s one of my favorite franchises of all time.

Wow. The fact that it's been 5 years since Super Mario Maker and Splatoon came out really makes me feel like time is flying more than ever. Seems like yesterday.
this is the one year i remember most vividly because i got this gift guide, along with a stick-on splatoon skin for my wii u gamepad, at a pop up nintendo stand in a mall while i was gift shopping with my mom.
did they do that anywhere else? they had demos set up for their big games, though i only remember splatoon because that was the game i was obsessed with (and i, as a cocky 12 year old, felt it was a good opportunity to show off how good i was to random passersby). i haven't seen them do it in years since, which is why i'm curious if any other cities did them in 2015 (or even now)
