The yellow ball adds a nice touch because it makes it easier to follow and understand the pattern. If they were all red you really couldn't know which ball is which and the spectator may think that the balls in the reveal aren't the same ones from the beginning. You are always shown that the yellow ball is the one that goes to the other hand and the red balls go to the pocket. Your brain thinks that it is more difficult to be any trick because of that, which is kind of stupid in a way, but definitely looks fairer.

I like the idea of your own subreddit. This way it is more interactive. Pretty sure everyone subbmitting on your subreddit watched this video, so they see your reaction, which is cool. If, you do not get enough content in your own sub to make a reaction video, you can fill in clips from different subreddits, but ppl on your sub want especially you to react to them, which is cool

I really liked the 5 of clubs out of a sea of 4 of diamonds trick because I could see how it was done. Lol! I feel like I can do it now but that move is extremely difficult to pull off without being obvious with all the attention on your hands picking up that first half of the deck. If you can throw in some misdirection there, it would give you a little breathing room so that would help out quite a bit.

Great to see you back at it Jason. I know Im grateful for what you do and I'm sure many more are as well. I don't know if you threw this idea around, but what about reaction video to really old magic content? It would be cool to see you respond to old old stuff too. Maybe that's not allowed either, but I have seen some magic from the 60's and 70's on TH-cam. Like I said, maybe it's off limits too, who knows. Keep up the great work!

Jason, you have an awesome capacity to adapt to situations when there are challenges, congratulations for that! Many people (more than they may seem) appreciate your positivity and ideas.
My two cents about this video: reactions to Reddit magic videos is not like reactions to Fool Us. In Fool Us you can speak about the method (although in code), but here the comments aren't about whether you know how the trick is done but on other things, like how smooth the movements are, whether there is no flash seen, tips to improve the sleight of hand, and so on. In other words, something like what Chris Ramsay occasionally does in his channel. (imo)

Nice to see these new videos kick off! I vote yes on including the fables and questions from the previous videos.
Yeah, I don't love the Reddit app. I think the user experience on the computer is MUCH better. I think mixing in reactions to magic from other subreddits or other places entirely is a great idea. One possible downside of making videos solely from videos posted to your subreddit would be that any viewers who also join your subreddit may therefore have seen them there already before you make a video of them. While I know that was true with Fool Us too, it would be cool to have some of the videos be ones that viewers might not have run across themselves yet.
By the way, I think you're way too hard on your performance of MaxSchutzer's trick. To watch it once and then immediately perform it is pretty damn impressive!

The trick with the cards to coins is the use of a pure black cloth mat the slight of hand us to move a piece of cloth over the card which also reveals the coin that is why the colour of the mat is so important it will not pick up edges or shadow of overlaying cloth.

    Potential spoilers:
#1) He has a duplicate end of the sharpie on the other side (probably stuck on there with a magnet inside). Then when he moves it up and down he uses his thumb, and to get rid of it he dropped it when he had it over the edge of the table.
#2) He just blew on it.
#3) He had the paper money on the other side of the mask and just had the strings twisted so he could spin it and show the other side.
#4) I believe he just has multiple cards squared up so he can show what he wants.
    #5) No idea.
    #6) No idea.
    #7) Palming the sponge balls.
    #8) Edited?
#9) Maybe using their fingers to create gaps so these cards fall?
    #10) Mirrors?
#11) The card is off screen for a moment so maybe it was switched?
#12) The rubber band was shown to be cut so he just let the other drop into it.
Edit: Please don't take these as fact. I am just guessing on a first watch through.

  • @MichaelMerino

I think it's OK if you setup a "value system" of what you are and are not going to reveal. In other words, there's little value in just playing the video, saying "wow" and saying your fooled. It's perfect and quite entertaining when you play it several times, point out items, use code words, try the effect yourself, and work through it. And then magicians who upload know what to expect. If they upload their video, they know you'll pick it apart.

To answer your question about Reddit on mobile, many people think the official app is garbage, but there are a large number of popular unofficial apps. The three I know off the top of my head are "Sync for Reddit", "rif is fun" (formerly "Reddit is fun") and "BaconReader". I use Sync for Reddit on Android, but in general if you google "unofficial reddit app" you'll be able to find plenty of options.

Maybe Beardy used an odd-colored ball because it's what he had?

The trick with the maSk (that is what I think it was a typo); shure you didn't got it? The mask could be "folded" a bit down and there are rubbers on he end of the mask for a nice "flip".

Definitely do future ones from the computer, videos uploaded directly on Reddit are trash on mobile. They aren't much better on computer but it's workable.
You can sometimes get a free reward to give out on the computer, if you get a freebie you could give it to your favorite performance you reacted to for that video.
Keep Aesop and Questions. It's nice.

I think it was cool when you were attempting to replicate the tricks you had an idea about. Maybe that's an angle you could expand on.

The box thing as a wormhole was actually a gimmick i use it all the time just wanted to let you know and maybe he used a yellow sponge ball to attract more attention to it and for misdirection

I like quotations. They're fun. How about some questions about magic or quotations from magicians. Or maybe quote about what a magician said about a technique, practice, philosophy etc. I'm sure you've already included some of that stuff, but maybe more of it. Have you read the book Fooling Houdini by Alex Stone? Very good read. Some very interesting things in there.

Beardy Magic Guy videos seem to have a lag every time he does a vanish. If there isn't one then Bravo! Somehow he's figured out a way to naturally stutter in real-time in order to produce the illusion that he's doing magic in the matrix. Seems to glitch every time he makes a sleight-of-hand move. Someone, please prove me wrong here. I watch magic videos for about 4 hours a day for many years now. Something is up with his performances.

@@BeardyMagicGuy it's very well done. I'm only specifically talking about the cards to coins routine that I really can't see anything at all. Even Eric Chien, Takumi's and even Lennart Greens versions I can clearly see the dumps. You're on par with Jeki Yoo on those sleights. I'm going to be following you shortly after I type the period to this sentence.

Are you filming from an Android Phone. I have that problem with recording myself. My videos stutter during filming and it ruins my videos so I don't post them ever. It even happens recording my artwork videos.

    • @BeardyMagicGuy
      @BeardyMagicGuy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@TUFRIDEGPGT thank you so much! Great to be mentioned alongside such names haha! I film with a dslr camera, but it could very well be the compression on Reddit that makes it look that way?! Not too sure... Also, this isn’t quite Lennart or Takumi - It’s of course inspired by them but it’s actually an old Marlo move, so not the usual ‘LP’ - that’ll also make the transitions look a little different... Regardless thanks so much for the support - I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Stay positive and all the best
I used to like your card deck reviews, may you can consider doing that
Also you can talk about history of magic, or the magic culture. People like me just like watching and are don't practice tricks. But are always intrigued with the wonder.
