I don't know what particular government agency put this on the front page of my youtube, but this was one of my brother's favorite games growing up. I started playing this TODAY on my ds. My brother committed suicide 2 weeks ago. He also played guitar. I feel like this is something he would have played with a friend. You guys are awesome. Keep it up.
This was such a delight and nostalgia trip to listen to while I was drawing. I played Earthbound when I was a kid growing up in the 1990s, and that game would go on to change my life in ways that I never could have imagined. I met some of my best friends because of that game, and I got to meet Itoi himself just last year. It's been such a surreal experience.
Same for me in terms of impact, but strangely enough I hardly actually ever encountered anyone in person who had played it, even among other people who had grown up playing RPGs, I feel like it was a real sleeper hit, the shin Megan Tensei series even more so
I'm a pianist, and I'm always jealous of how much color you can get out of a guitar. Unfortunately, string instruments and I don't get along nicely. Very well played!
@@louie.4047 there's a way around that! More expensive e-pianos have a dial that lets you quickly modify the tune of the notes being played! It lets you do things like wobble notes!
My wife is a really incredible guitarist and can memorize pieces on the instrument very quickly... So once, when we were teens, I had had a particularly bad day and couldn't sleep that night. So, knowing how much I love classical music, she learned this piece and sat next to my bed playing it all night until I fell asleep. I can't listen to it without getting a little teary-eyed now.

The way you guys bring these Earthbound tunes into life is amazing. I feel like this is how I actually remember these songs when I think back about playing Earthbound and start getting the music stuck in my head. Amazing arrangement.
what does this even mean? you heard the wide variety of instrumentation used on earthbound as two guitars? earthbound OST's instrumentation and arrangements are incredibly complex and dynamic. yes, these guys, as usual, did a great job transcribing and arranging/performing as a guitar duo, but to act like this is a more accurate representation of what the original composers intended than the game's OST itself is bizarre to me. just because a game was released in 1994 doesn't mean it needs to be 'updated' or 'brought to life', especially a game with as excellent a soundtrack as earthbound. go back and listen to the soundtrack. you're probably not remembering how good it actually is. the snes had an excellent soundchip. i'd rather listen to, for instance, the final fantasy 3/6 snes OST than any modern update or 'classical' version. there was so much feeling in those soundtracks, so much thought and care put into their arrangements and production. they are already perfect as is.
Such a beautiful game and a wonderful soundtrack. Fourside theme was my favourite track from the game. Every time I picked up the controller to continue my adventure there was always something that would happen that made me smile. Wish I could erase it from memory and discover everything for the first time all over again.
I love what you did with fourside! Strong rhythm on the acoustic opened up for nice dotted eights on the classical. Lovely! These songs are very well written.
