  • Hello, my dear viewers and subscribers !
    I must say that all flat twin engines from OS test runs gave me real pleasure, in one way or another.
    But this engine surpassed very, very many. Of course, you can see everything interesting in this video, but I will tell you the main thing - this is a real work of mechanical and precision machinery art. That's why I called it the "new Japanese Marvel". I have run hundreds of engines, probably resurrected several dozen after accidents and mistreatment, so I understand well what I'm talking about. By the way, I'm not the only one who thinks, that this engine is great. The main thing in it is your confidence in its stable and reliable operation, whether on the ground or in the air.
    Thanks for watching and wish you all a nice day!

    In my opinion the OS 160 twin is Is best engine to date, wish they made this a gas engine..

      Thank you for your comment ! Absolutely agree with you, FT 160 is the best. B.t.w., OS is currently working on the next engines generation, for UAV;s, and they almost developed twin opposite gas engine with EFI, ECU and with starter-alternator on board, 40 x 2 cm3 volume, very cool features.
      I can only imagine, how high it is priced. www.os-engines.co.jp/OS_professional/news/191016_e.html . Fantastic appearance. Having great basic engine, like FT160, I think, OS is capable to modify / adopt it to the gas fuel accordingly, with EFI, and other contemporary features. It could be a dream engine.
      Thank you !

    I ordered a couple of those Saito glow plug adapter's like you use to try out on my Enya 80! Also what kind of glow plugs do you recommend? Thanks in advance!

    • @crazyengines88
      @crazyengines88  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, that's great ! Definitely, it's one of the best and quite universal glow plug harness. It could be even connected to the thick central electrode of the Enya #3 hot glow plug, or to the Enya 4C glow plug, as well. No any connectors works so reliable, as this one from Saito, even small alligators clips doesn't works so well.
      Thank you and have a nice day !

    • @crazyengines88
      @crazyengines88  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, of course. I would recommend you to use standard OS type F glow plug, it's very universal.
      So, also, any of these will work more, than satisfactory: Saito SS type, Saito P2 type, Hangar 9, Yamada YS #4. Few Enya's glow plugs will be also nice, like Enya #3 and Enya 4C type glow plugs. Better to be sure, that it's working, so before installing the glow plug, try to ignite it with NiCd B-size removable igniter, to check, will it light. Please, keep your fingers away from the glow plug tip, it becomes very hot after 3-4 seconds. Hope, this could help.

    What would cause my OS Surpass 40 to make a knocking sound, it idles great , I purchased it new last year it ran great, this year I started it and know it knocks

    • @crazyengines88
      @crazyengines88  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thank you for your comment / question. I'm not an absolute expert, especially in remote access with the patient (OS FS 40), but from my P.O.W., knocking sounds usually is qualified, as detonation. One of the reasons could be a heavy prop, or too lean fuel mix, or some fuel flow resistance inside the fuel supply pipes. Also, it could be a kind of polymerized castor oil residue somewhere in carburetor. Are you sure also in fuel mix quality ? Did you ever run an engine with this fuel mix ? Here is a few things I would recommend - pls., dismantle the carb assy, totally clean its internals, to remove any old fuel residue. Assemble it back, reset it to the factory settings and start its tuning from the beginning. Hope, it would help. Apologizing for too late reply.
      Good luck !
