The greatest and worse thing to happen for the NBA was the signing of that MASSIVE media rights deal..It has given the League office..a false sense of value and relavance.
NFL has a stupidity issue in its players.. but both the NFL and NBA have an officiating issues they have yet to address. they've ignored it, brushed it under the rug, fined players and coaches who spoke their minds, because they always thought the viewership was going to be there.. but as Silver, the man who ruined the NBA, has realized the viewership can and WILL go away.. but unfortunately he is too stupid and incompetent to understand why people have decided to ignore the NBA regular season.. main reason is officiating.. the favoritism shown to certain players and teams is palpable, the fouls these officials call seem almost anticipatory rather than calling it when something actually happens.. the pump fake and jump into a defender ruined the NBA and made it unwatchable.. ZERO DEFENSE is allowed to be played.. teams are putting up 140 points a game by mostly jacking up 3 pointers for 90% of the game.. curry revolutionized the game and not for the better.. players think they can shoot like curry. no one can shoot like him.. its incredible that curry was so talented and gifted that his gift ruined the sport.. because other players wanted to be him and teams have overhauled their structure and gameplans to feature around the 3 pointer but their players aren't good enough shooters to make it entertaining.. the playoffs will get their viewership.. but silver doesn't understand that no one wants to watch an crew of officials call 100 fouls in the span of 5 minutes, or watch a fast break end with a pull up 3 pointer and doink off the rim.. the NBA ignored pleas from players, fans and coaches for decades; dating back to shaquille oneal.. and now the fans are turned off by the product.. and silver has no one to blame but himself.. and now he's got this ridiculous NBA cup that doesn't address the actual issues plaguing the NBA.
