Murukku is common in south India, not just a product of Kerala. Murukku is infact a Tamil word, not a malayalam word, BTW. Butter is added to give it a soft texture. It will not be so hard if more butter is added. The name murukku derives from the Tamil word for "twisted", which refers to its shape. In India, murukku is especially common in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala.

I was in Melbourne back in 2011, and had to drive 25kms to get a limited variety of Indian products. The shop was literally the size of a car garage. I wonder how the situation is now?

Broo I ate hide n seek biscuit at the age of 5 and during that time it was 50 Rs pretty expensive. After Indian products were banned in Pakistan I missed that biscuit so much that I still miss it till this day. Really bro Indian snacks are on a next level

Coke was forced out of India in 1977 due to the govt policies and so a lot of home grown cola and soft drinks brands came into existence out of which the prominent ones are thumbs up by parle industries, they also had a lot of other soft drink brands like Mazza, Limca, Citra and Gold Spot which were bought by Coke in 1993 for only 40 million dollars as coke reentered the indian market soon after pepsi in 1991 post liberalization, so all the 80s and early 90s kids were introduced to the soft drinks from parle and some other local brands like campa cola, double seven etc, coke within a few years time made the 40 millions to billions in India and dropped gold spot for fanta and Citra for Sprite, they kept thumsup for its unique taste and very large market size, similarly pepsi had it's slice, pepsi, mountain Dew and mirinda to compete coke and the ad battle was fought fiercely through cricket and bollywood contracts, pepsi dominated the indian market in the 90s because it started it's operations early in 1991 but later coke made a strong come back in late 90s through more creative ads thanda matlab Coca-Cola etc and beaten pepsi hands down in 200s and continue to dominate the space, indian brands disappeared from the scene but parle industries again relaunched frooti and brought apply fizz drinks after 10 years of non compete agreement was over and now they are competing well with coke and pepsi on non cola soft drinks, but 80s children have an affinity for the home grown brands through recall value of the doordarshan ads played during their childhood, there is always a strong emotional connect with these brands

Love from a keralite 🇮🇳👍 didn't expect murku to be featured... Being a keralite, I'm not a fan of murku... U should eat our banana chips and our mixture....or kappa (tapioca) fry chips... If u like oily snacks, then I love most of our snacks here... Especially our version of imrati and banana fry, then there is bonda, sujiyan, vada (2 varieties, both good), haluwa (kerala version, not North Indian), etc.
And I'm surprised u like good day biscuits. Imho only oldies like those biscuits... I prefer bourbon any day. U should have tried Uncle chips instead of Lays. Lays is just indianised American chips.

I ate one indian snack when I was small but since then, not able to find it anywhere in the middle east. It’s called “Khaaja” it’s a biscuit made of jaggery (gud).

4. Raj Kachori
There is a place in bihar called silav which is famous for their sweet as well as salted khaaja.
