I have a rather unpopular opinion in that ODST remains my favorite Halo game. I've just always found the ODST more interesting than Spartans, they don't need to be super solders or have advanced super suits and AI companions to do the same jobs Spartans can do, just skill and teamwork.
As badass as they are, I can't help but remember in the book Fall of Reach when ~14 year old John killed like 3 ODST's who were harassing him in the gym with bare hands
Gaspar Remember though, John was going through the Spartan program, he may not have been Master Chief yet, but he was certainly stronger than any normal human, even at 14. And John was always an exception even among other Spartans. I could be wrong though, I have read The Fall of Reach, but it was a LONG time ago, so I may be getting his age and development of the Spartan program wrong.
Let's be honest. I think it's safe to say, That this was one of the hardest achievements of last generation. It took my forever to get this one. I remember crying once because we had one more wave and a brute chieftain killed all of us. This one will go down in the books.
I didn't get it till 6 months after release and man I had so much emotional times trying to get it as it was the last achievement for recon I needed and when I got it all I could think is never again do I want to deal with that again
Ah yes, this brings back many memories. I remember doing this back in high school 2009 with three of my friends using the strategy that Caleb mentioned in this video, and it was certainly a tough grind - but it worked. It takes a lot of time and concentration (and letting your guard down gets you killed very often) but hearing that achievement pop after finishing it was such a great feeling.
Sometimes you just gotta sit back and rewatch the classics. Also holy crap you can really hear the age difference in Micheal and Gavin between old videos and new ones

Back in the glory days we did nothing but Halo Reach forge all day long (I was a kid, I could) but now no one I know even plays games like what the fuck literally no one plays Xbox, only thing they play is CSGO which I play from time to time. Halo 3 was the last Halo with that type of multiplayer. Halo 4 had the classes implemented where you only had to go for the Power weapons ( you could spawn with the forerunner and Alien lesser weapons) it's still fun Halo 2 has the same multiplayer and it's with the bundle same with Halo CE
I think that may have been. Michael said if done perfectly then it could be done around 2 hours. They did one set is about 30 minutes so it fits right in with the time.

You know, you can play with the control settings to make every Halo game have mostly the same controls (B is melee, Y is swap weapon, A is jump, RB is reload, RT is shoot, LT is grenade). Only X and LB have to change, because of the different features in every game.
I remember being confused by the night time missions in ODST. I just kept walking around in circles. The other missions, however, were amazing. I remember replaying the last mission at least 5 times on co-op with my friend.
I actually liked this game, I mean its lack of competitive multiplayer and forge kinda made me sad, but the campaign was good and it introduced the legendary firefight mode, and firefight is fun as hell.
Theres no custom games that are worth it any more. Even Halo Reach was great for the custom games. 343 are gonna get their grubby mits all over Halo 2 and 3, the best in the series, and ruin them.
2022 Update: Unfortunately the online servers is shut down but is still playable with friends. This achievement is still possible to do. If your missing players of 4 we played with one guest. Myself and 2 of my Cousins online manage to beat and achieve the achievement with 1 guest and counts.
I remember getting Endure on ONI Alpha Site, the interior one, not the courtyard. It was one of the longest experiences of my life, but it was a great feeling finally getting that little achievement. Never got Recon, but that achievement meant more to me than that now-irrelevant armor. Teamwork, commitment, blood, sweat, tears, and no bathroom breaks. Damn good game.
There are a lot of things i hope get brought back also such as dual wielding, brute vehicles, the consumable equipment, missile pods, and good looking armor customization.

Am I the only one who liked this game? I remember playing the campaign and loving the dark and creepy atmosphere. The way the story was told and played out was pretty neat to me. Same with Halo Wars. It had my two favorite thing in video games, Halo, and RTS. How did so many people hate it?
I actually wouldn't mind ODSTuesdays. Normally, I find FPS Lets' Plays boring, but Halo has enough additional game mechanics to be interesting (drivable vehicles, more exotic weapon types, different enemies that require different tactics). Plus, it's co-op, so I can root for everyone instead of having to pick between Lads and Gents.
I love the slight surprise in Michael's voice when the second Hunter makes itself known, like he knew there was a catch to hunters but couldn't remember what it was
I think they did pretty well considering they haven't played this game in a long time. After an initial struggle, they definitely got better as the game progressed. This challenge is also quite hard. Even as an experienced player it's pretty much expected that you'll need multiple attempts to get this. Just keep playing guys. Your rock :D

They were actually pretty good at this game, especially Gavin and Ray. They only suck now because of they amount of time that has passed of them not playing it. Ray being Ray still owns at this game. I only know that because of he plays Halo whenever he streams sometimes.
They just seem to suck at working together haha, Jack is pointing out the wrath near them and Geoff is on the gun shooting at a grunt for like a full minute.. it's funny, but also frustrating to watch sometimes. XD
In a couple of hours who would want to do the vidmasters with me in ODST? I need that 1000g to reach 50000 gamerscore and this is going to pump me up. I also never got around to doing them either, but they should be a breeze now.
They dont want to touch the 343 Halo games for the same reason as to why they rarely do a CoD video. Theres just no love in them. Titanfall and Destiny have replaced these 2 for that reason..

All these years later I decided to come back and check out these awesome let's play videos achievement hunter did in halo 3 odst firefight again in anticipation for the offical release of halo 3 odst firefight in halo the master chief collection. I really hope they'll consider doing another halo 3 odst firefight let's play when odst firefight releases on the mcc. I still find it crazy that back when they made these videos gavin and michael were talking about how they wanted the x button to be the reload button in halo 3 odst and similar to halo 4 style controls. Now all this time later that wish was granted in the mcc when 343 put out an update that added a halo 4 and halo 5 style control scheme option for all the halo games on the collection and some other new modern controller layouts for gamers who want the variety. Wow crazy.
These are the Let's Plays I enjoy the most. I like Geoff and Jack in the Warthog a lot, for what ever reason it seems logical. They really found their momentum halfway through too.
Why would they destroy the Wraiths? You can just use them. Commandeer 1-2 of them and use them to mow them down. It's the best way to clear this challenge in under an hour.
But then you'd have to deal with fuel rods and Brute Shots, not to mention the insane amount of stickies the enemies toss at you. If you had a decent gunner (which I think Goeff can pull off) you could handle it, but otherwise it'd be pretty hard. I think Gayleb mentioned the Chopper strategy purely for keeping on the move, which is one of the best ways to complete any Firefight open-map.
Myles Raines I highly disagree. It was unbelievably easy for my team. We had 2 people in the Wraith, 1 drive around in a chopper, and 1 stay in the building (plasma+pistol) to take out brutes. We did it relatively fast with not many deaths. As soon as a drop ship came, we took out its guns and took out mofos as soon as they dropped. All the problems you mention with grenades can be solved with a decent gunner, keeping enemies at bay, and strafing. Even if it blows up, you still have more spawns. But the game crashed in the last round so we rage quit lol.
Halo 2, Halo Reach, Halo CE, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, (Long way between these.) Halo 4 and finally Halo 5. Halo 2 - Halo 3 are really close, just needed to put them into some order.
With that somber music at the start and Gavin saying "Hello audience." I was expecting them to announce someones death haha. I almost had a heart attack.
I love this game. I once just sat one night playing through the entire game on Heroic. Such a good story, you just need to get into the "it's me" vibe during the night mission. I also loved the music, especially that electro-ish battle music at night.
The SMG will be in Halo 5. It was horrible in both halo 3 + ODST since it was only good in CQC and dual wielding. Who else thinks the SMG will either get buffed to the point it's over powered or dual wielding is back?
Strange to see that an ODST moves faster with a turret, and can dual wield unlike master chief (course he could in halo 2 and 3), it seems they should increase the movement speed of carrying turrets and increase the damage for the SMG.
LostSky13 Guns were balanced? Everyone would camp in spawn with DMR's! The whole ordnance idea was bad because after you're done getting kills with the first power weapon, they would get another and keep mowing down the other team. That's why the little amount of people that played halo 4 went back to Reach, a game that was balanced. The campaign was ok, but I hate how they never explained what happened with the covenant, and the Didact sucked as a villain and nothing pissed me off more than pushing a single button for the boss fight. I thought the game was a failure and now that they had a trilogy planned before they launched the game also annoys me. It makes me really sad to see Microsoft and 343 milk what's left. If you ask me they're just beating a dead horse.
Mike Emanuele I couldn't agree with you more. Another thing that bothered be was the customizable loadouts, and the fact that they made the didact an antagonist when it had already been established that he was a "good guy".
Ah ODST, this was the first game I played on 360 and I remember watching another of the vid master challenge guides that AH did. This game was loads of fun
+NefariousN8 you have to be joking. Halo 5's campaign is alright once you forget how the other Halos played, but its multiplayer is absolute garbage. It's damn near unplayable, and the maps look like a step back graphics-wise.
I meant how in the default controls melee was RB, B was crouch, X was reload, and Left Stick was sprint. My memory of classic Halo controls is RB is reload, B is melee, Left Stick is crouch, and X was armour abilities/ equipment, and that hadn't really changed until Reach. (I'ld forgotten that I had started using the "Recon" button layout in Reach)
I meant equipment like bubble shields and power drainers and flares. And if that still doesn't count, then replace "equipment" with "General Press the button to start the lift or trigger the cutscene" button.
MrKatakatt RB reload for life! I think Ray uses it as well. In Halo 4 X was sprint, and somehow it was so perfect. Love the Halo controls like that and I'm so glad 343 has kept it in.
I adore ODST. I would get so into it, that it often became hard for me to play at night because I would start to hear EVERY SINGLE LITTLE SOUND in a 360 degree radius.... It would make me jump... It's just the easiest one to put yourself in the shoes of... You're playing a normal human with normal training and a normal body.... And that's the best part about it...
The reason that I enjoyed ODST, and while it isn't my favorite Halo, I like that you're just a regular dude in this. Its always fun playing as the Spartan, or Jedi, but my favorite moments are when you're just a regular dude in a war.

When I first heard reinforcements in a firefight game, I thought I was getting help and I was like, "where the fuck is my team?!"
Am I the only one that wants the odst smg to be in the new halo? I don't know why but it was the most satisfying gun for me to use in the game.

MarzTheGod I thought it was going to be a mini-series due to them already being 5 days in or whatever. Plus, the old factory they were going to take over. But, I've definitely been wrong before.
All these years later I decided to come back and check out these awesome let's play videos achievement hunter did in halo 3 odst firefight again in anticipation for the offical release of halo 3 odst firefight in halo the master chief collection. I really hope they'll consider doing another halo 3 odst firefight let's play when odst firefight releases on the mcc. I still find it crazy that back when they made these videos gavin and michael were talking about how they wanted the x button to be the reload button in halo 3 odst and similar to halo 4 style controls. Now all this time later that wish was granted in the mcc when 343 put out an update that added a halo 4 and halo 5 style control scheme option for all the halo games on the collection and some other new modern controller layouts for gamers who want the variety. Wow crazy.
These are the Let's Plays I enjoy the most. I like Geoff and Jack in the Warthog a lot, for what ever reason it seems logical. They really found their momentum halfway through too.
I really wanted ODSTuesday to be a thing.

Why would they destroy the Wraiths? You can just use them. Commandeer 1-2 of them and use them to mow them down. It's the best way to clear this challenge in under an hour.
But then you'd have to deal with fuel rods and Brute Shots, not to mention the insane amount of stickies the enemies toss at you. If you had a decent gunner (which I think Goeff can pull off) you could handle it, but otherwise it'd be pretty hard. I think Gayleb mentioned the Chopper strategy purely for keeping on the move, which is one of the best ways to complete any Firefight open-map.

I highly disagree. It was unbelievably easy for my team. We had 2 people in the Wraith, 1 drive around in a chopper, and 1 stay in the building (plasma+pistol) to take out brutes. We did it relatively fast with not many deaths. As soon as a drop ship came, we took out its guns and took out mofos as soon as they dropped. All the problems you mention with grenades can be solved with a decent gunner, keeping enemies at bay, and strafing. Even if it blows up, you still have more spawns. But the game crashed in the last round so we rage quit lol.

With that somber music at the start and Gavin saying "Hello audience." I was expecting them to announce someones death haha. I almost had a heart attack.
I love this game. I once just sat one night playing through the entire game on Heroic. Such a good story, you just need to get into the "it's me" vibe during the night mission. I also loved the music, especially that electro-ish battle music at night.
The AH guys should do a Let's ply in Gears of war horde mode

Being nothing but a struggle against berserkers and tickers and being in Gears Judgement...sounds pretty complicated and I like it

The SMG will be in Halo 5. It was horrible in both halo 3 + ODST since it was only good in CQC and dual wielding. Who else thinks the SMG will either get buffed to the point it's over powered or dual wielding is back?

I liked the SMG for custom games. It was much more balanced (one handed) in zombie game types than the AR. Dual welding is probably back though.
Strange to see that an ODST moves faster with a turret, and can dual wield unlike master chief (course he could in halo 2 and 3), it seems they should increase the movement speed of carrying turrets and increase the damage for the SMG.

LostSky13 Guns were balanced? Everyone would camp in spawn with DMR's! The whole ordnance idea was bad because after you're done getting kills with the first power weapon, they would get another and keep mowing down the other team. That's why the little amount of people that played halo 4 went back to Reach, a game that was balanced. The campaign was ok, but I hate how they never explained what happened with the covenant, and the Didact sucked as a villain and nothing pissed me off more than pushing a single button for the boss fight. I thought the game was a failure and now that they had a trilogy planned before they launched the game also annoys me. It makes me really sad to see Microsoft and 343 milk what's left. If you ask me they're just beating a dead horse.

Mike Emanuele I couldn't agree with you more. Another thing that bothered be was the customizable loadouts, and the fact that they made the didact an antagonist when it had already been established that he was a "good guy".

+NefariousN8 you have to be joking. Halo 5's campaign is alright once you forget how the other Halos played, but its multiplayer is absolute garbage. It's damn near unplayable, and the maps look like a step back graphics-wise.

I remember this particular achievement being difficult to do because it would always lag out towards the end. I was so thankful when I got it.

I wish they hadn't been screwed by Halo 4's default "calloduty controls".
...But those weren't the default controls in Halo 4.
I meant how in the default controls melee was RB, B was crouch, X was reload, and Left Stick was sprint. My memory of classic Halo controls is RB is reload, B is melee, Left Stick is crouch, and X was armour abilities/ equipment, and that hadn't really changed until Reach. (I'ld forgotten that I had started using the "Recon" button layout in Reach)

I meant equipment like bubble shields and power drainers and flares. And if that still doesn't count, then replace "equipment" with "General Press the button to start the lift or trigger the cutscene" button.

RB reload for life! I think Ray uses it as well. In Halo 4 X was sprint, and somehow it was so perfect. Love the Halo controls like that and I'm so glad 343 has kept it in.

I adore ODST. I would get so into it, that it often became hard for me to play at night because I would start to hear EVERY SINGLE LITTLE SOUND in a 360 degree radius.... It would make me jump... It's just the easiest one to put yourself in the shoes of... You're playing a normal human with normal training and a normal body.... And that's the best part about it...
I honestly hope this takes them a while I love when they do these kinds of videos

The reason that I enjoyed ODST, and while it isn't my favorite Halo, I like that you're just a regular dude in this. Its always fun playing as the Spartan, or Jedi, but my favorite moments are when you're just a regular dude in a war.
