Today, I got the shock of my life. Dodge sent me a 2021 Charger Hellcat Redeye and Motor Trend gave me $10,000 to modify it so I could race it in Roadkill Nights. What an honor. I think I'm going to throw up.

also a larger crank pulley, injectors, and a larger fuel pump or double fuel pump kit to support the extra boost. without the larger injectors and fuel pump upgrade it will definitely go lean and melt the motor especially on E85.

For $10k my priority would be super sticky tires. You saw how it can’t put its power down. After that E85, bolt ons, pulley, tune, weight reduction etc.

It’s crazy how far cars have come. I used to think my Kenne Bell supercharged 2004 Cobra making 580rwhp was fast in 2010 but now you have close to 800hp 4 door cars from the factory.

From stories of Hellcats I read (all crashed), the most important first mod would be the SUSPENSION. You need maximum traction to put the power to the road. Maybe adope some drag racing technology to the rear.
The widebodies handle way better than the original ones you probably read about, the 500HP Scat widebody handles really well actually, and its the perfect power for the body.
You are right though, these have trouble putting power down, and the 800HP is useless if you're just freespinning, but at the same time, not sure how he'd tame the beast without serious modifications under 10K.
@@ViolentMLG I thnk a suspension specialist can improve it. An experienced drag racing mechanic can analyze the issue and advise corrections. Coilovers is probably the first step.

@@MrTiger0002 doesn’t mean you know cars. Hellcats and demons suffer from bushing fatigue so after several launches they tend to shoot the rear end out the car. Putting some quality poly bushings helps prevent this but a solid axle is the best fix. (Not great with a limited budget. Coil overs help tremendously for traction but a better tire will do more. Mickey Thompson makes a street ET for the stock rim. Helps plant that power way better than the stock.

There are numerous people who actually modify, build performance and racing vehicle, many which are street legal, some both, some not, who have YT channels
He certainly is far above the DDE, JR, TJHunt, Speed717, etc. who do not know how to modify or enough mechanics [though JR is a decent, basic mechanic-handyman type]
now WE can see Why Dodge/Chrylser gave, this fellow, Tavarish, the newest, most powerful, stock Challenger, Hellcat, Redeye of the group of YTers and Alex Taylor, the most expert, knowledgeable, experienced, builder, racer, etc., the oldest, least powerful stock version [she didn't get the Redeye intialy, but a second, a Redeye, for she's using the engine. She knows, exactly what she is doing along with her father Dennis, and Alex has been racing since at least 17 years old with Badmaro in the 7's.
Shall we name the list of 20-30 ??!! [the numerous YTers that actually know engine, vehicle, auto mechanics, performance, modifications and racing ??!!]

I'm actually happy to see Dodge putting these pre production cars to further use instead of simply scrapping them and I'm really glad that Freddy got this chance. I can't wait to see what you do to it to make it Drag ready.
@Tavarish - go into the cars performance pages and scroll through the settings. You will find the final factory tuned horsepower with the red key inserted. I've seen Redeyes as high as 850 hp off the assembly line.

Having dailyed a demon for 4 months for a friend putting beadlocks and drag radios in the rear that are 335 with a off set does wonders. Also launch it in 2nd instead of 1st. Tire pressure with the beadlocks should be around 9-12 psi cold.

ethanol, cams,(idk what people do to those engines), straight pipe, delete the particulate filter if it has it, and obviously strip it out entirely, maybe get carbon fibre body bits
15" rear wheel conversion, race headers, E85 flex fuel, moly solid drive shaft, Pulley for more psi, Direct port nitrous setup do 2 units. adjustable coilovers front and back for weight transfer this is very important.
300 shot, some 411 gears, high stall converter and a 15" tire conversion for the rear and rule Woodward.
No to the gearing lol yea there great for the strip but the hellcat is a street monster.
That 300 shot would blow the engine
You realize the Hellcat has a 350mm rear rotor (13.77") with a caliper on it requires at least an 18" rim just for clearance. There's much better gains than wasting money on converting to a 15" wheel. just randomly spouting a gear ratio out without knowing gearing of the 8 speed trans, the tire diameter is silly. Even solid drag cars that run 7.s will put like 3 somethings in them. with a limited budget already plenty of power. Weight reduction. Lighter wheels, strip entire interior all the useless underhood plastics. run a stickier tire, smaller pulley for more boost, remove supercharger and have it ported, bigger throttle body. Also a throttle programmer there's a lot of delay in the Dodge throttles and leaves a lot on the table off the line. poly bushings in the entire rear end. to protect that independent rear suspension. replace the suspension with some quality coil overs.

@@omnomshibob stock width tire on a hellcat is already a little of 12” wide. Has a fairly wide tire. Replace the stock tire with a Mickey Thompson ET street for more rubber on the ground. Not a great tire for wet but he’s not driving it on the street. Replace the front wheels for some narrower rims even if you put non wide body rims in the front to reduce drag.

nitrous alone would cool the intake air temp...have to upgrade the fuel system and all those AN fittings cost a fortune...idk if 10k would do it with a nitrous kit and wheels and slicks,...would probably have to run 2 fuel systems..really would have to flow a lot of e-85,,,prolly would want to run redundant fuel pumps to...2 for the engine 2 for nitrous...maybe seperate fuel cell for the nitrous...don't see too many running nitrous with e-85..and then tune it for Aug. 14...i don't think so
none of that would matter if he cant hookup. these cars are bad at hooking up.

Road kill did a build on a charger and made great power with nitrous. The more room you can make for drag radials should give you better traction. Better rear suspension is a must as well, the track being raced on is not a prepped strip I don’t think and hooking up will be the hardest part
You're going to be in my old stomping grounds. Racing on Woodward Blvd., and Gratiot Ave., were, well, frowned upon. I ran a '75 Duster with a modded 225 slant 6 with custom intake and 3 2bbl side draft carbs and the trusty 727 Auto.... I would smoke the Z-28's of the day.
Go buy a wrecked Hellcat and transfer everything over then make it street legal using the other chassis

Why not put it in a better car and sell the interior.
Twin turbo, intake and a tune and take everything out u dont need to get some weight off the car. And probably some wider tires to put the traction down to the road. And check the diff. They have a problem with them exploding and check the coupling on the back transmission for the axle the nut might be alil loose. Safety first.
A few grand on bolt ons and tuning the rest on a 15/17inch conversion with a proper radial and drag specific suspension on it.
spend $8k on sick racing stripes and $2k on really big blued muffler tips.

Turn the boost up to insane and go as small but wide rims you can in the back with big drag slicks. Adjustable springs on the back. Its all about get the power to the ground when you have more then 600++++ hp.

I've found on these, traction in Sport is more fun than Track because Track actually tries to keep you... on the track. Sport is the no fucks given setting, outside of full off.

He should do some of the non expense stuff like weight reduction by taking out the back seats and maby ad a bigger intake and stuff like that
The hell cats intake is huge already, it only needs to be ported. It needs to be tuned, and get a blower porting too. Way less than 10k.

Ive been in one of those with even less power with a pro driver around a racetrack and that thing was passing mclarens Ferrari’s and lambos on all seasons. If u get the chance u have to take it to a track and let it eat, my misconceptions about those things being boats with no grip were instantly shattered. Congrats!

Trac bars in rear to stop hop are a must and I would upgrade the coil overs. Then do pulleys but on a ported blower along with tune intake exhaust and top it off with a 100 shot
Also I'd put a lsd in it wider wheels on the back strip out the rear interior and other weight reduction add a smaller pully on the super charger open the exaust up and then get a tune on it and possibly a nos kit you should also put larger fuel injectors on it

Disclaimer: I’m nothing more than an armchair warrior… this is all opinion based on many years of no real world experience!
I wouldn’t bother stripping the car, traction is going to be everyone’s issue… 800HP is plenty! Getting that to the ground is the trick. Focus on tyres, wheels, suspension and maybe a new exhaust to make it sound hellish :-) then take the rest of the money and go find a drag strip to practice launch after launch. The car is already a beast!
Stripping the car is free….and everyone else that he’s racing will also have a hellcat. IMO, you want every advantage you can get
Weston Chamblin’s trIple charged MONSTER is tuned to roll into the throttle to lower tire spin and it’s 1300hp.

This first thing you need are new tires and rims for the rear. Find out the smallest diameter rims you can fit on there(16" to 18" would suffice) and get some fat drag radials. The current tires and rims won't win you a drag race.
Engine work ./exhaust / nitrous/ twin turbo. Change all the bodywork to carbon fibre/
Too cool, After the race I’d buy an lesser model Charger and swap all the Hellcat goodies to it.

I thought this was a new video. I got the chance to drive a challenger hellcat with the fun key. They are super tail happy on street tires I would say, I'm assuming slicks would be way better. An exhaust is a must, since it's a Chrysler hemi it's only a matter of time before the exhaust manifold gasket starts leaking, and maybe add a turbo if it's in budget ;)
