      My hope is for anyone of age to join the Air Force N.G. the benefits seem enormously helpful and could allow for aggressive savings, business start-up and more. I wish I would've done this when eligible, too old now. One weekend a month is such a small time investment. 48 hrs is nothing. Besides, I've heard about the intangible benefits of enlisting such as developing discipline and doing things civilians would not have the option of doing. If you're not already enlisted best wishes creating a comfortable future whatever life choices you decide. We only live once.

    Questions.
    1. FOMO on family. Although ANG is part time with more civilian lifestyles, do you recommend it for someone with children? Would non combat mos still have occurring deployments? Or long deployments My fear is missing out on my children while their young due to random long deployments.
    2. Calling home is a privilege in the guard, but how often are you able to call home during deployments if any?
    3. How often are deployments? Both state and federal and worldwide?
    4. Is six years the minimum on contracts or is there a smaller contract available?

    • @aveontaefrazier
      @aveontaefrazier  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t see you being a parent as a barrier, there are plenty of individuals who join in that situation. There is a part of the video where I talk about deployment cycles so I’d suggest taking a look there cause that answers 3 and another that addresses 4 (no shorter initial contract than 6). If you are deployed you will be able to reach out as much as you want with your personal time.

    Greetings Sir from Fayetteville, NC.
    My name is Leontii Popov and yes indeed i really enjoyed your discussion of things what to do before joining ANG. Or as known by Air National Guard.
    I’m 20 years old and I’ll be 21 on April 7th this year.
    I have few things to ask as questions in this comment section.
    1. Where can I find a video of how basic military training looks like for Air National Guard?
    2. Is there any positions I can find for air national guard involving in business/logistics?
    Since I work in a small business veteran logistics company as a lead customer service position for 5 years since September 2019.
    3. Another question I have is that the BMT is 8.5 weeks training? Or 7 weeks training? Since one source says 7 weeks of BMT and other source says 8.5 weeks.
    4. I’ve also graduated from Jack Britt High School class of 2022 and I’ve attended marching band between 2018-2022 years. And in fall 2021 as a section leader for saxophones during my senior year.
    In addition to this 4th question; Do they have a great band program?

    What’s good bro. I have a question about deployments in the guard. I don’t really want to ever be deployed and don’t care too much for traveling. I mainly view the guard as somewhat of a side hustle for me if I join. How do deployments work exactly? Do I have the choice to not be?

    • @aveontaefrazier
      @aveontaefrazier  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Therealk1ng So, good question. Honestly bro the simple answer is you sign up to defend the country so you could be told you will be deployed. That being said the much more complex answer is if you don’t want to deploy and there is enough manning to fill all spots you don’t have to. The guard works with you as long as you work with it. For example, right before I separated from the guard our unit got tasked with a deployment. I wanted to go on this one and they put my name up for it, but they filled all spots voluntarily and I couldn’t go. Others who didn’t want to go as long as they were junior enlisted got that choice. All up to leadership at your squadron and wing level.
      I’ll tell you that being deployed especially young is a great thing. It’s only a small portion of your life and you get lifetime benefits. Along with that you save money that whole period and it’s tax free. Just something to think about. I can’t wait to deploy.

    A warning to those thinking of signing up for the Air Guard (or Reserves) from a Guard/Reserve veteran....if you don't get presidentially activated or do long term AGR duty you won't have ANY veterans benefits at ALL. ZERO. You won't legally be a veteran without this unless you are service-disabled through the DOD or VA. On top of this, if you do get injured, Guard and Reserve do NOT have Presumption of Soundness or Presumption of Aggravation for VA claims as active duty vets have. There is also a higher standard of documentation required to prove service connection compared to active duty members. To make matters worse, the VA and the DOD will fight you tooth and nail to get service-connected no matter how much in-service medical evidence you have.
    I actually believe in the Guard/Reserve concept for the security of our country. But until people force Congress to change these horrible and unfair laws for Guard/Reserves by not signing up, it will keep happening. You have been WARNED. -John

    • @TeighanKochOfficial
      @TeighanKochOfficial หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      How common are presidential orders or availability of these orders to get these benefits? How long do you have to serve active duty orders before the government considered you a veteran? Thanks in advance!

    • @JohnB-dr8sk
      @JohnB-dr8sk หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@TeighanKochOfficial No problem! During the Iraq/Afghanistan War on Terror, it was very common for the Guard and Reserve to get activated. Even just being activated one day qualifies you as an active duty veteran with VA benefits. I served during the Desert Storm/1st Gulf War era, and it was very difficult to get activated/deployed even if you volunteered for it. Now that the War on Terror is over, it's still possible to get activated, but it's much harder now.
      Regarding AGR, you have to do 24 months and then the VA will consider you a veteran.
      In my case, I got service-disabled and granted veteran status. But I will tell anyone that they don't want that route as it is a lifetime of suffering and not glamorous at all despite the benefits. I'd give all my benefits up to be healthy and normal again.
      Getting back to getting veteran status in the Guard/Reserve, I would make 100% sure that the unit you are signing up for has AGR slots open in the MOS you pick before signing the dotted line. In fact, I would ask that unit's commander to guarantee an AGR slot upon enlisting if you meet the requirements. Otherwise, you will serve for 3 years, get out and have ZERO benefits and not be able to legally call yourself a veteran.
      Yes, 6 years gets you a home loan through the VA, but that is not the same thing as getting VA Health Benefits, VA Hardship Benefits (SSVF Program), Federal and State Hiring Points, VA Health ID showing real veteran status, etc.
      Most states will also not consider you a veteran unless the VA says you are, so you will also not be able to get veteran benefits through your state as well (check this before signing as well, because some states DO grant benefits and consider you a veteran if you serve in that State's National Guard).
      Honestly, I would just sign up and serve a 3 year active duty enlistment and THEN join the Guard or Reserve. That way you will be covered as a veteran but also have the ability to serve part time afterwards and never have to worry about chasing down an AGR slot, etc to get veteran status.

      @@JohnB-dr8skI'm trying to tell my little cousin all of this. He's considering joining the military, and from what I've heard from all the people in all of the branches, the best route is to enlist once as a full-time soldier into an MOS that has civilian relevant skills, then get out, get your education, and join your local Guard unit if you want to stay in, ideally as an officer through whatever route you want to take to be an officer. This is assuming you're a normal person and not one of the Jocko Willink's of the world.
      I personally haven't served. I did a year of Air Force ROTC before realizing I valued my civilian career too much to join the Air Force for a full time officer contract that would last four years before I'd even begin getting the professional certification for my civilian career. Now that I've finished up my degree, I'm considering signing up for Air Force OCS to directly commission into my state Air National Guard in the position I would want, now that I have a much better idea of what I want to do with my life than I did at 18. Had I known what I know now, I would have enlisted in the Air National Guard and done that while I got my education.

    Let me add to the difference between Guard and Reserve. Many people don't fully understand. Air Guard is run by the state and is typically much more "family-like" or "buddy-buddy". They bend the rules & regulations are little more. The educational benefits are also state-specific and typically, better. The Reserve is Federal. More "professional" than "family-like" and more strict with the rules. Also, their facilities tend to be a little nicer and bases a little bigger. The Reserve is supposed to be the 2nd line of defense after Active Duty, but lately the Guard gets deployed just as much despite their focus on defending the homeland. The Guard will help with state emergencies (natural disasters, etc) whereas the Reserve has no involvement in that. The Air Guard gets a bad rap, but personally, I think it's the best kept secret of any military branch.

      I have to correct you on some things so folks get a better picture: the Air National Guard is state AND federal. Although some states may operate a little different than others, EVERY unit is inspected and they get written up if found 'bending the rules'. Believe me, I know as I augment Inspectors' General teams. The Reserves are strictly federal, as you state. As far as atmosphere, it just depends on which unit in which state one joins, but no one should get the idea that they will just sit around and 'smoke and joke', so to speak. I have to agree with you that some Air Guard facilities are 'less than desirable', but folks can do a tour of the unit before joining. No one can force anyone to join; it's an individual decision. Definitely do the research and tour the areas.

    Great video. I was an EMT for a brief amount of time and have considered join the Air Force for many, many years. But, I am considering it now just not in the medical field. It's to easy to see what other opportunities there are.

    that one weekend , is that friday , saturday and sunday or just saturday and sunday?

    • @aveontaefrazier
      @aveontaefrazier  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hey! So the one weekend a month is typically just Saturday and Sunday. For our unit we have one month out of the year where we do a super drill which is Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This allows us to have one month of the year off. This does exclude the two weeks AT or any additional training your unit sees fit. Hope this helps!

    Hey, I'm confused about the deployment. I'm considering in joining the national guard air force, but I'm confu about the deployments. What is deployments like? What stuff do we do? I know we travel

    • @aveontaefrazier
      @aveontaefrazier  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! I’m not exactly sure and I’d prefer the information come from first hand experience. The general mission could vary which means lifestyle, workload, duration all depend on the mission and your job. I can try to make a video maybe with another member who has deployed.

    They say that you have to be in the Air force in order to be apart of the space force.. Do you have to be in a certain component of the Air Force to be in the Space Force? Like Do I have to be active duty in order to join??

    • @aveontaefrazier
      @aveontaefrazier  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. I would assume they will take members of the reserve and guard to join active but most will come from active. I believe space force will only have a active component for at least a couple years.

      You need to be in certain jobs to be applicable for the space force. Currently a 1N0X5 which is eligible.

    I was interested in the Space Force, specifically the proposed "Air and Space National Guard" I just got a good job as a CVS Pharmacy Technician/Assistant, I like my job, but I am also interested in joining the Space Force, in a National Guard type role, if congress ever approves the creation of the "Air and Space National Guard"..
    I dont think they ever will, with a Democrat as president.. and I'm also Old, and I have 2 nonviolent misdemeanor DUI, from several years ago.. I Already made a halfassed attempt to join the Air Force, in 2010, when I was unhappy with my life, in college.. even then, at the height of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, I was turned down, by the Air Force recruiter, due to a nonviolent summary underage drinking offense from a year prior.
    Idk, should i Even Bother wasting my time, and the Space Force recruiter's time??.... only to get rejected again.. I'm 34 years old, healthy and im an intelligent person, when I put my mind, to something. (I did my homework, the Space Force recruiters up to age 39..) I also have a college degree, but I Do Not want to be commissioned as an officer.. I do have leadership qualities, but over a group of 4 people.. not 50 to 150 people, atleast not yet.. idk, if I enlist, I can earn that shit.. that,and I Dont feel comfortable being in charge of people who served during the war on terror.. like, it just seems like a Stupid situation to put myself in.. such a situation, I would Def be in, if I enlisted and chose to utilize my bachelor's degree to comission as an officer. I would Much Rather enlist, and take on an MOS that will teach me a marketable skill, such as working with electronics... I had considered the security force type MOS, until I learned they basically are traffic cops, in addition to "space force grunts..", I'm not a fan of police officers, sometimes..
    Also, I've had a life long Passion for space related stuff, and I have experience working in a cleanroom environment, I figure I could utilize that interest and experience in some MOS's, in the Space Force.
    Idk, thank you for this video. And any input or constructive criticism, would be Greatly Appreciated. Thank you.

    Hey man! Thanks so much for the video! I’m really looking into the ANG. I’m a senior in high school and I am really interested in the medical field. I am trying to get the job Aerospace Medical Tech job in ANG because through school you become a registered EMT. And I want to be able to translate the EMT to my civilian life, like working with paramedics/fire stations etc.. I talked to a recruiter over the phone and she said as long as I get above a 54 on the ASVAB that I’m pretty much guaranteed that job. I know you’re never “guaranteed” anything, but how likely is it to get that job? Because ultimely my end goal is to get that EMT license and serve my country part time! Thanks so much for your time & good luck with the Air Force academy!! My brother went to the academy! :)

    • @aveontaefrazier
      @aveontaefrazier  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey! It’s very likely if you get that score. The only thing that might hinder you getting the job is if someone picks it before you. They have to offer all opening to everyone unless you can get her to hold the position for it. The sooner you test and get the score the better off you are.

      I know a couple members who joined security forces so their application looks better. So, I guess it could benefit you especially if you live in a state where it’s more competitive. I loved the guard although like everything it’s not perfect.
