I use the top chip on a stack to spin it like a watch face to keep the running count. The logo is 12 o'clock, even. If the running count is -2, I spin the chip to 10 o'clock position, if +3, 3 o'clock etc. I use to be able to keep it in my head but as I'm getting older I find it helpful to use a counter tool. .
Winner of a video, I been tryin to find out about "how to count cards in 21" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Tonvelyn Xiylijah Trick - (do a search on google )? It is an awesome one off product for learning how to make fast money using this lotto system without the headache. Ive heard some super things about it and my best friend Jordan after many years got great results with it.
As shameless a plug as you make for yourself here, you make an amazing point! I bought your app after using a free app to do some practice but the adds got in the way! I realized that every 5-10 minutes there would be a 30 second ad, so every hour I was wasting 3 minutes waiting for an ad. Regardless of the other benefits like bankroll reset, charts, counting and shoe size software just not having ads makes that app 100% worth it just for learning basic strategy and how to keep a count. The rest of the benefits are icing on the cake, the best value for money app on the app store!
Not only am I learning to count cards from you, I'm also learning how to deal cards FOR a casino. I have no intention of ever becoming a professional card counter, by that I mean, someone that counts cards for a living. I want to deal cards for a living and make money counting cards whenever I decide to go on vacation! Somewhere far away from MY casino. Shuffling the cards is tedious and I have to do it in a way that follows casino code. Tough but fun. I always use the shoe as well. I'm getting good with that thing. I just love black jack! I've been playing it since I was a kid everyday, just dealing to myself, same thing with poker. I make more money at poker.
Before I found this channel, I spent a weekend in South Lake Tahoe where I played at a casino, at a blackjack table that payed 2:1, used 2 separate decks, shuffled every 5 rounds or so and delt the cards face down. That wasn’t my brightest moment, on the plus side I managed to luck my way into doubling my money
I read this book and it changed my life “the worlds greatest blackjack book” it’s where card counting first started. Not only that. All the calculations are broken down. My top speed at counting 1 deck is 27 seconds so far at perfect accuracy. I can keep the running count, and calculate the true count easily. The author also mentions another steps that needs to be done before placing a bet the formula is Player advantage (in percent) = BSE(basic strategy expectation) + .515 x true count . Of course if true count is 0 bet the minimum . I advise every counter to read the book I mentioned above . Even thou the book is played at 1-2 deck play. It will change your perspective of gambling forever . And you will have changed your fate from a loser to a dangerous player . Haha
I taught myself to count a few years back. Started going to casino with my friend who likes to play basic strategy. I basically just watched him play while keeping track of count...when true-count was 2+ I would wong in. I don't know what the EV on that was, and I did not keep track of my winnings, but I won a few thousand and never had a losing day. I assume wonging in/out gives a significant boost to EV while diminishing risk of ruin.
Hey Colin, i have the app but I wish there was a way that you could see how many cards have been dealt so you can keep track of the true count without having to look at the running count
Do you have a video on counting drills? I know the drills I have used, and they''re not easy, like keeping a running count through a deck counting 3 cards flipped at a time while simultaneously totaling the number value of those three cards as though they were your hand, but I would be interested to see others.
Before I got Lyme, I had one of those memories where I could repeat a conversation word for word that happened 5 years ago. I could remember a legal file number, date of loss, claim number, where the accident occurred, all parties and where it was in the litigation phase. I could have counted cards if I had a mind to and you know it just never ever occurred to me. What was I thinking? Now I can't remember what I said 15 minutes ago. SMH
Great videos , thank you , I went to my local casino today, they are using an automatic card shuffle machine and the cards are put into it after each round of betting. Does mean that counting is pointless and the game is of no use to me ? Thanks . Steven Fyfe , I’m in Edinburgh Scotland.
We definitely don't want to play in that situation because you're unable to count at all. You will find a lot more continuous shuffle machines outside of the US. There may be some good games around since Edinburgh is big but they're probably more difficult to find.
* Hi Colin..., * Really enjoying your Blackjack counting videos' and thank you for sharing.. * Question: #1) "What do you think of 'Norm Wattenberger'.., "Casino Verite Blackjack Software ?" * Just purchased your new book titled: "The 21st Century Card Counter" and enjoying the book, too ! ! Learning a lot and once again, thank you for sharing.. * Question: # 2) "Did you and Ben go to the "Blackjack Ball" in Las Vegas, Nevada.., this year (2020) ?" Just wondering... Your friend always.., Mike O'Brien in historic Uptown Butte, Montana.. :)
I have so many questions. My local casino burns the first card. Should I consider that card obsolete and start count at 0? Should consider it -1 or +1? Also, they use a cut card on the 8 decks they use in shoe. They usually ask a player to put a cut card inside the deck. Then they take that end that was cut and put it in front. Then the dealer puts a cut card at towards the end of the shoe, approximately 1.5 decks short from the end. Does this affect my count? Does it make it obsolete?
Im 19 and new to card counting im just wondering if this is a good or bad time to get started? won't casinos start to make it a hell of a lot harder to card count pretty soon and it may not be worth it? or will card counting always be a thing. i really want to get good at this before 21
Always worth studying even as a recreational basic strategy player. The deviations and knowing the shoe composition when you're betting will make you a much tougher player to beat.
My best guess is that it will slowly become harder for low-limit card counters (fewer quality $5 tables) but that will just be a gradual thing. Plenty of my friends have become 6-figure card counters (some even 7-figure counters) who started with $3,000-$5,000. But that might become tougher in another decade.
I am so glad this was asked as i am 19 and went to a casino on my holiday and as a gamer I always come up to ask how can I have a better chance of winning the house than losing to the house. I learnt counting and still doing basic strategy. However, my mom is not very impressed even though I passed year 12 and going to collage. Like I just wanna have fun before I have a family to look after
Great job on the video. I've just stumbled across your video's and you have some great insight. I thought I would share a system that I've played for years and get your take. I play a progressive betting strategy, with counting and using the same rules as the house. Hit under 17, hit soft 17 stay over 17. My progressive betting is just doubling every time I lost, starting at table min on a win. My counting, however, is different. I found it somewhat difficult to keep a running count constantly, so I count the number of cards that have been dealt and the number of cards from 10 - A that have been played. I would break this down by deck in the shoe, assuming a 6 card shoe, I know that there's 312 cards of which 120 of them are 10 - A. If I got to 52 cards dealt if there's been 20 high cards played, I would consider the weight of the shoe normal, the only time it would get heavy is when the number of high cards was lower than it should considering the number of cards dealt. When considering playing a table, I would watch 2-3 shoes be dealt before playing. This allows me to get a sense of how the decks are being shuffled, if it seems like the shoe is front heavy or back heavy or fairly balanced. This strategy has worked well for me for quite some time. Anyway, great video and thanks for sharing some of your knowledge.
Hey Colin, great video, but what about that hidden camera video in casino so we can see master at work, I know you dont play that much anymore but it would do a great for a video
You know that is so dangerous. They could claim cheating device and all kinds of bullshit. And leave you with a felony backoff you'll never forget. I worked in law enforcement, and a lot of these guys are just itching to use their "toys". Take that however you need to.
Yeah, I've thought about doing it again, but there are risks and it would be hard to make it exciting and not just boring blackjack play. I like training people most, so that's what most of my energy goes into. But I'm thinking about it.
Here’s a tip that might help any system mature within your own game. So I came up with a different language for negative counts. I sort of combined using d-1 d-2 d-3 into: Dip:0 Done: -1 Doo: -2 Dee: -3 Door: -4 Dive: -5 Dix: -6 Deven: -7 Date: -8 Dine: -9 Den: -10 Deleven: -11 And for 12 and on just use regular language. This is for new and old counters who sometimes get a count like -3 and 3 mixed up at times when you end the last hand not saying negative or “d” before the number (it happens especially when the number in the last hand drastically changes). So give it a try, it might take an hour or two of practice but it definitely helped me mature into an ap quicker and avoided a lot of mistakes.
I can reliably count down a deck in 25 seconds. I might be able to knock a bit off of that time but I don't see how I could get to 20 seconds. It takes me almost 20 seconds just to cycle through a deck without counting!
25 seconds is fine. Focus more on putting the big 3 skills together flawlessly. (perfect basic strategy, perfect counting, perfect betting and playing deviations)
Blackjack Apprenticeship Gus45 I can actually do better than 20 seconds if I hold the deck face up and therefore don’t have to flip the card over...which takes time. Basic strategy I’ve pretty much got down but I’ve never messed about with deviations. I will start looking into those.
Question: if you are counting and playing perfect basic strategy but make an error and win the hand. Does that have a negative affect on your earning or is that just lucky?
Casey Eich ... winning money cannot have a negative effect on your earnings. But it’s luck. However, making mistakes will cost you on average. It’s also just luck when you make the right plays but lose.
I'm In Reno, I'm having a hard time keeping track of basic strategy when there's so many different table rules. We have single, double, 6, some you can only double 11 10. Some 11 10 9, some double after split. I NEED a tip please on how you keep basic strategy correct for all these different variations
I've filmed a video on this (on card counting systems). Short version: KO is just fine if you plan on sticking to shoe games. But if you want to play much DD or single deck, I think Hi-Lo is the better choice. And complex systems aren't worth the effort.
Hello Colin, thanks for your videos, you have helped me a lot on learining this art. I was wondering if you guys were ever going to have a bootcamp in San Diego by any chance because I really want to go but I find it difficult to go to Vegas at this time, btw does it cost? the bootcamp I mean. Have a good day!
I just wanna know why I can’t count the low half as D1 and high half as up 1….?? It’s just easier that way for me. Down 1 for low half up 1 for high half…
continuous shuffle machine (CSM) = not beatable. automatic shuffle machine (ASM) = beatable and preferable to the standard hand shuffle. Check out our video on CSMs.
A while back before casinos Maryland had legalized blackjack in their fire houses. I had 6 deck shoe count once get to +26 so I knew they were cheating. I figured out they were stuffing the shoe with extra 5's and 6's. It later came out they were cheating on their taxes as well.
Not Blackjack Army to the best of my knowledge, although it’s probably not an uncommon practice method.I just read Blackjack Life... a very good read, true story of two guys who trained with a former member of “the team.” They front-loaded the deck in practice.
There is nothing magical about your first two cards and the dealers first two cards. Both of you have an equal chance of getting a good or bad first two cards.
"the whole time" - well, anything can happen in the short-term. But if you want to understand why card counting works, here's a video: th-cam.com/video/8L6V0Lm7r-0/w-d-xo.html
@@bruka1601 yeah it really works I've been earning about a 1000 per day I started about 3weeks ago. I think I could earn more but I'm afraid of the heat and I don't have a betting ramp
@@emeryorlando2587 a 1000? Damn! Well im pretty sure of myself now but as you know its a diferent thing to count at home and casino, how did you start?
I go to the casino when the first open so it's just me the dealer and the shoe just like at home and plus it's way easier to keep the count when I'm the only player
@@emeryorlando2587 makes sence, what do you do with 14s when the count is high, cuz theres no index play on them except surrender. Just by basic strategy?
I played in a casino with $20 minimum bet. When the true counter went to 13. With the last 2 decks. Dealer cut one deck. Then I increased my bet to $100.and I lose my money all 4 times. The dealer always got 20 or 21. So sad. And I won in several shoes with tc about -8
provided you are playing correctly, your losses at True 13 are called short term negative variance, and your wins at True -8 are positive variance. Don't worry about winning/losing a single session, day, week, or month. You are thinking like a gambler and not a card counter.
This guy is showing how the average person can use patience and time to master a skill and make some serious money. However, the casino knows the average person, which is 99.9999999999999999999999999% of the population does not have patience to learn a skill. They would rather watch youtube videos of an unskilled person doing squats and/or a cat playing with a ball of yarn.
You could not have explained #4 any more confusingly. In fact, I have no idea what you're talking about with #4 at all. Maybe write & read a clearly written script next time. The rest of the video is good though.
DUDE! 3:45 Clearly you’ve never dealt with basic jumping a car battery skill. Black is negative and red is positive! Why are you switching that basic principle? Like getting port and starboard on a boat mixed up
actually in terms of business and economics black is positive and red is negative, ever heard of black friday? this is supposedly the time in which retailers turn their deficit of the year into profit or getting out of the red (negative) and becoming black (positive)
LOL. The cables on a set of jumper cables don't know what color they are. You can use whatever color you want, as long as you the same cable for Pos to Pos, and the other cable for Neg to Neg. I didn't know there was a "standard."
Card Counting is still viable and profitable. Even more so than in the past, since there are more and more blackjack games available nationwide, and throughout the world. Casinos are popping up all the time. So, I cannot believe it is dead, in any sense. Players are still beating the game with card counting today.
Just a note to you. CHANGEYOURLIFE VLOG (CHRISTOPHER MITCHELL) is not only challenging, but debunking your system on his latest video. Claiming his system will win everytime (which we know is not true), and your system can't match his. I'm just letting you know, so you can view if you wish. Cheers!

Yeah a good rule of thumb is ACCURATELY counting down a deck under 30 seconds and to aim to count it down under 25 seconds or even 20 seconds
Here’s a tip that might help any system mature within your own game.
So I came up with a different language for negative counts. I sort of combined using d-1 d-2 d-3 into:
Dip:0
Done: -1
Doo: -2
Dee: -3
Door: -4
Dive: -5
Dix: -6
Deven: -7
Date: -8
Dine: -9
Den: -10
Deleven: -11
And for 12 and on just use regular language.

Does the app come with basic strategy playing deviations for S17 and H17?
Max Wu Yes just click on charts
Yessir!
@@Blackjackapprenticeship How many deviations does it come with? I would like to learn a lot of them starting with the most efficient ones.
Android coming?
done.
"You can see here that there are more small cards than big cards". *Holds cards edgewise to camera*
Sorry. I'll get a second camera angle next time.
:-)
Why is it impossible to count with a eléctric shuffler?
continuous shuffle machine (CSM) = not beatable. automatic shuffle machine (ASM) = beatable and preferable to the standard hand shuffle. Check out our video on CSMs.
Do you have an Android app ?
Not yet. But our Membership drills work on any tablet or computer.
349 is a lot to fork out at once (student loans) I'm savin for it. You should have a subscription service. Think that would go over really well
No Android app. Apple only.
For those of you looking for a badass system, buy the book “Million Dollar Blackjack” by Ken Uston. That book will knock you on your ass.
A while back before casinos Maryland had legalized blackjack in their fire houses. I had 6 deck shoe count once get to +26 so I knew they were cheating. I figured out they were stuffing the shoe with extra 5's and 6's. It later came out they were cheating on their taxes as well.
Omg! Who was the team? Tell us! Was it Blackjack Army? Was it? 😀
Let's just say it's the team Josh Axelrad wrote about in "Repeat Until Rich." And they were incredibly successful.
Not Blackjack Army to the best of my knowledge, although it’s probably not an uncommon practice method.I just read Blackjack Life... a very good read, true story of two guys who trained with a former member of “the team.” They front-loaded the deck in practice.
why hole in the card?
Thoughts on live dealers through casinos? Living in NJ, Atlantic city casinos offer live dealers online
check out our video on online blackjack.
Can you explain to me why my count is a true 3/4 sometimes but the dealer gets a 19/21 the whole time when it it is at that true count
For android users its called blackjack all in one $4.99
Yeah i we been training on that app for a few weeks now, its really awesome, did it got you prepared for real deal?
How often and how much is a boot camp that youse do
You guys are the shit 😂
Who else plays Uston's APC? Jk, I play Revere APC. ; )
Do counting works if in shoe has red card? and when the red card comes dealer shake cards again
Ok
What is the make & model of that BlackJack Table????
Lol. Custom felt I had made for it.
Hahah think it’s a pool table lol
Nah, it's a real BJ table. instagram.com/p/Bpa6kfhn7SY/

Can't deal out of a shoe - it's the easiest thing in the world.
You could not have explained #4 any more confusingly. In fact, I have no idea what you're talking about with #4 at all. Maybe write & read a clearly written script next time. The rest of the video is good though.
I think you're just slow
It seemed pretty straightforward lol
RIP Card Counting
marcb510 why?
Card Counting is still viable and profitable. Even more so than in the past, since there are more and more blackjack games available nationwide, and throughout the world. Casinos are popping up all the time. So, I cannot believe it is dead, in any sense. Players are still beating the game with card counting today.
Just a note to you. CHANGEYOURLIFE VLOG (CHRISTOPHER MITCHELL) is not only challenging, but debunking your system on his latest video. Claiming his system will win everytime (which we know is not true), and your system can't match his. I'm just letting you know, so you can view if you wish. Cheers!
