I have a couple years ago. Point of Rocks is amazing! I switched to a full face mask a couple years back. If you haven't tried one, they are a game changer! I highly recommend checking them out. They have become more and more affordable too. Great video!
@@derickcoia2059 Thanks! I tried a full face mask, but I prefer my regular mask and snorkel. Lots of people love full face masks and it helps many that have issues using a traditional mask. Thanks for watching! 🙂
We just went for the first time yesterday and it was an amazing time! We brought out hookah diving rig and spent about 2 hours underwater crawling the bottom. We picked up all kinds of trash, found a sweet dive knife and a big haul of huge whelk shells in the 10-12ft water. Can't wait to go back again!
@@thetoneman We have a gas powered model from The Air Line by J sink. They're located very close to where I live so it's been a great experience with them from sale to service. Awesome products all around!
Another terrific video! That new GoPro is really nice. I started in underwater photography in the '70's and have taken thousands of underwater photos. In 1976, I was diving with the photography editor of Skindiver magazine in Grand Cayman and he gave me a tip to get great fish photos. Try using Cheese Whiz in a small can. Schooling fish love it and will follow you if you just give it small squirts. I eventually moved into macro photography taking photos from a distance of 1 1/2" to 8" but when I wanted close up photos of fish like yellow tail snapper, the Cheese Whiz always delivered.
Even though the water clarity wasn't good and there were waves, you still saw some interesting fish. I've never seen that many Atlantic spadefish in one location.
Yes, it is a beautiful area and we had a nice snorkel in spite of the weather. Unfortunately, I do not live close, so I had to take my opportunity when I could. I am sure there are much better days with plenty more fish. 😁👍📸🤿🌊🦀🐟🦈🐬🐙🐡
Shoulda went down to Caspersen beach while you were in the neighborhood. Might find you some sharks teeth.😁 I found a couple when we were there last year. Not the prettiest beach but the adventure is fun.
@@thetoneman Don't have an exact answer to that one however I do like to speculate on things and I noticed while snorkeling there that there was an abundance of trashed sea shells, I mean a lot! It's like they just push to that location whether do to directions of storms or tides or what, I have no idea. the sand there is black as well, very unusual. If you get bored check out some of the videos on the place. People have all kinds of gadgets and gizzmos for finding teeth.
Love your videos. If you were going on vacation to snorkel and want to see the most wildlife (dolphins, turtles, manatee), what would your vacation spot be? Novice snorkelers but good swimmers. ty
Thanks very much! That's a tough one as no one spot would you be able to see dolphins, turtles and manatees. I primarily snorkel on the NW Florida Gulf Coast... my favorite over all snorkeling spot for diverse sea life is Panama City Beach, but I see lots of sea turtles in Destin and Navarre. You can see dolphins in most places of your on a boat... some captains will take you out to see dolphins in the wild and you can get in the water with them. You would have a better chance of catching a look at some manatees in a place like Crystal River. Like I said... tough one. 😁👍
It was murky this time due to the bad weather while I was in town. I suspect it may be clearer with a stretch of good weather days and good tide. Was this the case for you?
I hear good things about the Palm Beach area Heron Bridge, but I've not been. I would suggest checking out "Snorkeling Travel Friends" on Facebook. They have people from that area who can give you a lot of information. 😁
Check out Longboat Key, Lido Key, Casey Key, Manasota Key and Bird Key. You can find more information on Google. I will be visiting Sarasota again in a few months. 🙂👍
Yea, this wasn't the best day due to the weather. I'm sure there are days when the water is much better there after a stretch of good weather and tide. Love me some Destin. 🙂👍
The weather was terrible during my visit. We had a break in the weather and snorkeled. I'm sure with good weather it will be much better. Thanks for watching! 😁👍
I use a GoPro HERO8 Black. I use a floating extention pole and I use both hands while filming. The GoPro camera has great stabilization called Hypersmooth 2.0 so that's additional help. This video is not the best example because the water was a bit rough and I was using hypersmooth "high" on the camera and I did not like the results. Seems hypersmooth "on" gets the best result for me underwater. Thanks for watching! Let me know if you have any more questions. 😀👍📸🐟🐠🦀🤿

We just had a boat beached on the point of rocks a couple days ago, didn’t realize just how shallow it was out there! Great video!
Oh wow... I saw some boats up close while I was snorkeling there. Thanks for watching.
Gorgeous Spadefish Toneman. Love this location in Florida.
Wow , i loved beaches , nice to walk along the water .Thanks for sharing .
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed the video. 😃
Beautiful, thanks for the videos.
Welcome! Glad you like them 👍

My kids and I have loved the videos thank you
Thanks very much. So happy you and your family are enjoying my snorkeling videos.
Sarasota is amazing. Headed back for labor day weekend.
It is! Love it and looking forward to going back this summer. 😁👍
That weather and the water clarity both look better than the one time I went there hoping to snorkel.
Yea, I can imagine it being worse, but I can also imagine it being much better. I plan on going back this summer... fingers crossed. 😁👍
I live here, spring and September are when the water is crystal clear and snorkelable
i’m going here for christmas. so excited!
Have a wonderful time! 🙂

Amazing!
Thank you! Wonderful place to visit 😊
i'm from saint augustine but i will be making a trip soon! the water is so much more pretty on the other side
Awesome! I hope you have a great trip 🙂
Reminds me of Cromwells on Oahu…….Diamond Head side.

Is that what they call shark tooth beach? My sister-in-law was talking about that place. 😊
Bro great video we will have to check out that place when we go in Jan
Thanks! Hopefully the weather will be better than my visit. Hope you have a great time. 🙂
Yes, occasionally people have found megaladon teeth there. However the ones that I found weren’t so mega.
Wow, I would love to find a megaladon tooth or even a itty bitty one 🤣
Why are there so many shark teeth there? 🤔

Cool! Beautiful
It really is... I would love to go back under better circumstances... weather and tides make all the difference. 🌧😳

I lived there in Sarasota
Lived in Sarasota or the House at Point of Rocks? Either would be cool 😁
When I used to go to siesta key it was always murkey

are there any other spots you recommend on the west side of FL to snorkel? thank you!!

Usually Siesta Key is MUCH clearer than this
What do you film with? Any tips for a beginners on getting steady film while in “moving” water?
I use a GoPro HERO9 Black camera... has image stabilization.
I’m going on Saturday is the weather mostly good there?
Weather depends on the local forcast. A stretch of good weather and calm winds is needed for the best visibility. How was it?
It was good. Weather was awesome, I had a great time. Thanks!
There is a lot of sediment floating in the water. What time of year was this?
The weather was terrible during my visit. We had a break in the weather and snorkeled. I'm sure with good weather it will be much better. Thanks for watching! 😁👍
@@thetoneman I am going in March. How is the visibility then?
@mike jackson I can't say for sure, but there's a great chance for good visibility if the weather is good. A good time to visit is early morning.
@@thetoneman What do you think has better areas for snorkeling? The East Coast Fort Lauderdale area or the West Coast Naples to Cape Coral area?
@@thetoneman What do you think has better snorkeling areas? The east coast Fort Lauderdale area or the Gulf Coast Naples to Cape Coral area?
We always crack up at the people who try to walk on the concrete
When it warms up I have enough snorkel gear for 2 men and 4 women let’s get a group together I have tons of gear!!
I dove here in a storm once and got destroyed by the rocks lol
Oh man, I bet that was a heck of a ride 😳🌊
cool video aside from you chasing the little fish around
Thank you.
In the 80's super clear water where there were schools of hundreds of snook daily, angel fish etc. Miss that. Always good to see life under there.
Yea, I wished the weather had been better and hoped to see much more sea life this day. Thanks for watching.
👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks! 😁👍
