    I've never seen it so clearly explained, especially the dot in the symbol, and it's indeed quite visible on the paper, the dark and light spots. It's awesome. Thank you for sharing!

    Great explanation! I hate it when people describe yin and yang as light and dark or good and evil because that misses the point. Unlike western cosmology where light must overcome dark, in Taoism both must exist in harmony. It is only good when yin and yang are balanced, not when one overcomes the other.

    • @DrShoesMcGee
      @DrShoesMcGee ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Alan Watts has a great explanation for this harmony in saying "one side is always winning, but never the winner, and the other side is always losing, but never the loser" In my experience, having challenges and pain strengthens our compassion and love, and makes us more resilient! Thus both sides of light and dark are in a constant state of becoming, but neither totally crushes the other. They both have to exist for harmony to exist, and they both help each other grow.

    Can you do a video on how to make a house welcoming with disabled access? My fiance is newly paraplegic, so we'll need to make some changes to the house to make it wheelchair friendly. Unfortunately, most accessible items like grip poles, banisters on the bed, ramps etc, often look a bit out of place and ugly, they get in the way of the flow of the house. They ofc need to be placed in a way for easy access but is there anything you'd consider to make them feel less in the way or perhaps cover with something that looks nice? We need a disabled home but don't want it to feel like it, basically.

    • @stillnotstill
      @stillnotstill ปีที่แล้ว +51

      I'm not an expert on home design but my disability has caused me to use certain accessibility tools and it strikes me as a lot of stuff is silver colored metal, blocky, kind of ugly right? But I'm not sure if trying to hide it would work, as much as designing around it. So like, mirrors and wall decorations that are silver or other metallic to match, and use clean lines, neutrals with pops of color, stuff like that?
      And maybe if you like softness have some areas be like, more soft and warm and inviting, and some areas be more minimalistic and metallic? Or maybe just stick to certain metallic centerpieces without making every single thing like that.
      Sorry if this is not very well explained. I don't think I did the greatest job because I'm definitely not knowledgeable about stuff. But I just feel for y'all's situation and I think there's definitely a way to make things seem more incorporated instead of standing out as "oh this is a grab bar" or whatnot.
      In any case, best wishes!!

      Try balancing all the metal with the other elements. Wood, water, fire, and earth.

    • @jesperlivid9184
      @jesperlivid9184 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      My first thought is possibly to cover straight, smooth items in peel'n stick vinyl made for cabinets/resurfacing! Easy to get a lot of colors and to cut into place/to each item to bring together with other colors/designs in the room if that's your issue, since unfortunately a lot of disability aids just tend to come in very simple colors/metals. But the nice thing is that means you do have the ability to add your own style to it! Some come in more grippy surfaces, I know they make a TON of varieties in texture now vs how they used to be. Otherwise you could possibly look into making simple fabric coverings, Hobby Lobby tends to have a clearance fabric area at my local shops that you can find fun, small cuts of cotton fabrics and even specialty cuts of fancier fabric sometimes if you're especially on a budget. (Depends on the store and the day for what cuts you get! I've found some really nice stuff though personally there. Same goes for thrift store bolts of fabric and fabric sections.) As for items you can store out of the way until they're needed, hiding them under side tables/short furniture usually works well for bulky items we need to keep around for us. Especially those ottomans with empty storage and a lid to sit on. They're excellent for things you need hidden in plain sight and easily accessible, especially when there's no company over.

    I have a lot of things, I’ve transferred to a bigger room. Now my final room is I am sleeping in the middle floor in a mat, I can’t have a bed cos all my walls has my stuff. I think this is the only way I can use my bed room functionally while keeping my many stuffs. I’m planning to sell them out anyway.

      @schuylergeery-zink1923 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There are two genders and they are blended between. I’m a somewhat masculine woman for instance… I own both my masculine and feminine qualities in this body and am at peace with myself. My husband has some feminine qualities and we balance each other out in all facets. The worst is when people deny the masculine and feminine energy in the body they were born in to the detriment of themselves… whether they are trying to fit into a box of conventionality or trying to be something “other” than what they are to be different or unique or unconventional. It’s all about balance and peace.
      This is why extreme ideology whether right or left makes no sense and is harmful people. One must accept who they are in order to move forward. Discontent breeds from denying truth.

    • @SpectrumOfChange
      @SpectrumOfChange ปีที่แล้ว

      @@schuylergeery-zink1923 Yes exactly, extreme ideology is harmful in so many ways.
      People can miss how much we need perspective, to be able to actually see the extreme-ness. When you zoom out a little from the time and place(s) we're in, we find that the temporary and locational extreme-ness is in the limiting of gender to a binary. Colonial forces moved toward reserved expression, to separate themselves from the rambunctious "heathens" around them, and pushed themselves further into a restrictive binary. But most cultures around the world have included more than 2 genders within their accepted cultures, since time immemorial ;)
