Bent-Over Dumbbell Row

- Working out from home? Assuming you don't have a workout bench at home, you have two options for dumbbell rows. One option is workout A the other you'll do for workout B.
Make sure you maintain a neutral spine through the movement while allowing your shoulder blades to fully protract and retract through each rep.
1. Find the right grip. Though underhand works, this may feel more natural with an overhand grip and dumbbells rotated about 45-degrees at the sides of your body. The weight sits closer to your center of gravity and you feel less lower back stress during your reps.
2. Stand in the bottom position of a Romanian deadlift with a slight knee bend and tension in your hamstrings and glutes.
3. Flex your abs and maintain a straight lower back. Allow the weight to descend close to your knees then row up and in toward your navel.
Do 4 sets of 10-15. - Andrew Coates

SIMPLE geez-louise…had to scroll through 10,000 “don’t do this” and 5,000 10 minute explanations of how to do that. Thanks brotha
I bet you ran into Jeff cavalier founder of athlene X
@@alvaro93364 🙄omg😑you know I did 🤣🤣🤣
This is also the only video where I can actually understand what the instructor is saying. Every other instructor is screaming over gym music or yelling in an empty warehouse.
Totally agree - so simple now thanks
thats so true...i had some who showed how they drink coffee 10 minutes...
This is what the internet is supposed to be. Not insane intros and making 30 sec videos into 10 minutes. Thanks and bless you
That's the simplest and most helpful explanation
Haha hey Andrew! Was looking for a video to share with a client on how to do these correctly and you popped up first. Great video, simple explanation. I have the pleasure of working in the same gym as this man and absorbing his knowledge.
Thanks a lot. I have dumbbells and many plates at home so bent over rows with them is my next exercise at home. Awesome video.
Ok, this is the best and most simple explanation I’ve ever seen and you did it in 30 seconds. Thank you!
Just got dumbbells and needed some exercises for lats, this is so great, thanks! ❤
His approach to barbell rows and t-bar rows are very close to the Golden Era style.. I love it. This is how I like to do it and my stubborn back has gained so much from it.
Dude thanks for getting straight to the point!
Saving this. Been doing bent rows but not in this particular way but keeping good posture. But this is probably the correct way new to it so please dont grill me been at it a month. Only got dumbells dont really have the money for gym right now so just do it at home.
Thank you. Love your videos.
Thank you
very simple, to the point vid, ty bud
Thank you so much God Bless you and your family for this
I was struggling with this motion for quite a bit until I watched your demonstration. The comparison with a Romanian deadlift cues the light bulb. Thanks
Thanks for the no faf, no massive ego straight to the point instructional video
Always top notch videos !
you're my goat andrew i could never figure out the form but this helped so much, i was also doing them one arm at a time but this is much faster
thank you 🙏
You’re a god! Thanks man
Thank you, every video I’ve come across is 7 minute thing of don’t do this or that, someone actually bothered to give me the 30 Sec thing I need to get back to it.
My favorite back exercise!
Great form!
Nice video 👍
Thank you for getting to the fucking point 🎉👍🏼
Finally !
It's a really nice dumbbell set, but it cost way to much. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx8N-gevHZ6YWNoOYdRjL90vdbNyOKKHxL I guess that's just how things are now days. 😕 other than being way over priced they are a wonderful weight set. My only one complaint is they are kinda bulky although at just over 55 lbs I can see why. Very user friendly and I've had no real issues. After one year if anything happens I will re-review.
So I don't have to keep my back parallel to the ground right
Very hrlpful
i keep finding myself feeling this more in the bicep then back, any tips?
Bro got the expensive dumbells 💀💀🗿
so a question for this i been told different things. do you push your shoulders down as far as you can or try to keep them fixed? you was moving your but like i said been told different things. thx
Whatever form I take, my lower back gets its, ALL of out, can't even feel my back when doing this, bodyshape effects it
This works the rear delts right?
Way better i love being able to move my wrists dont enjoy barbell on a fixed position with my wrists
How to do pull up
is it normal to feel it in the rear or sides of your shoulders ?
Does the back bot have to ne completly horicontal?
Hi, I tried to so this but I don’t really feel my back and when I do is only based of pain in the lower part of my back and my spine, idk what am i supposed to do, or what am I doing wrong here
Ahhh i injured the front of my knee and lower back doing this. I’m a beginner but I have learned the form briefly from somebody before, but when I did it yesterday maybe I forgot a lot and was doing it improperly. Does anyone have tips to prevent knee soreness?
Don’t ego lift.
arch your back more and get a weight you can control don’t lift too heavy. wear a belt if needed
you are in a completely wrong position. need to in a bent leg athletic stance before you bend your torso over. need to brace your core and breathe properly.
use less weight
Always start off with extremely low weights when trying new lifts.
💕 Wow💗💚💚💚💚💚💗
What if i don't feel my back at all doing this? Besides lower back. I'm a beginner at this exercise and i do it with a lower weight but i don't feel my lats or middle back at all compared to when i do a body-weight row at a dip bar.
If it helps: some people at the beginning of the movement should keep the shoulders in place instead of rolling forward. Also at the top of the movement emphasize the ''squeezing motion" of the muscles of your back and you will feel greatly your mid back. As you get more weight in it and you get better at doing it you will feel your lats more. Personally, for feeling my lats i always need more weight while doing any kind of rows.
Try an overhand grip (thumb next to fingers), that helps some people. Works for me.
thanks dewd edit: bros still hearting comments lol
Wont' this easily cause injury?
@@tnationyour spine is not neutral
Keep your head aligned with your back tho
Some people can some can’t from what I’ve seen
His form is still good
ideally sure but it doesn't matter outside avoiding extreme head positions
Your upper back must be killing you.
0:15 "Slightly bent knee"... Surely you have 'very' bent knees (?)
I get it that you're buff and all that chit, but you're doing them wrong....🫡
