I learned so much from your TH-cam channel.Being a first year resident in pediatrics it is really overwhelming to work in NICU.but your videos make my life easier.please make a video on how to use bedside USG and echo to get a basic idea about the ways in which it can help us diagnose conditions in NICU.

We will get around to ultrasounds in the unit- it will be more how radiologists use them (and cardiologists)- as the only time we seem to be using them is with PICC lines. (And the occasional time we've figure out to turn the switch on to diagnose an effusion!)

I'm so sorry- I hadn't answered you yet! Skin probes should always be placed where they are not covered by skin. So not axilla. If baby is supine then the belly. This applies to both incubators and radiant warmers.

Another great explanation of concept of thermoregulation in neonates. I am a Hospital based pediatrician in Lahore Pakistan. May I know whether there were increased infection rates with higher humidity levels in incubators. Jazak Allah

Yes! This is a great idea- honestly though we have all worked in hospital with good availability of cardiology and radiology so the only place we've started using bedside U/S is with PICC placement. We can discuss where we are in the world with this though!
Great question. That can be done when babies are at home- but in the unit- we try to use exactly the same way of measuring the temperature- so usually it's the variability we care about!

Should skin temperature probe placement be on RUQ of abdomen or under axilla? Does this apply to use in incubator or radiant warmer? Or both?
