I received the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack LP for my 9th birthday and have been playing bass since I was 14. But only now have realised that Maurice was the genius bass player on their 60s and 70s recordings . Thabk you so much for sharing this!
In case you care about accuracy, this song was first released on the album "Children of the World," released a year before the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack.
@@JStevenBroome I read Dennis Bryon's book. Stills was apparently out drinking with Joe Lala and they came into the studio in the middle of the night to record Joe's part. Apparently the jam at the end is literally just that, Stills and Lala jamming out in one take.

Great use of chromatic runs and licks. In a full recording setting it's not as obvious, but here you can hear him just slinking around.
One of them percussionists later took up voice acting.
