    Is it possible to track specific ad name instead of campaign name using the tracking template at the account level?
    If some custom parameter inserted under ad level, Will it override the tracking template at the account level immediately?

    Great Video, but I have one question. You say that auto tagging will not apply the UTM parameters that you would need for tracking in Google Analytics. So it sounds like I could do complete Google Ads URL tracking in analytics when using the tracking template or the final suffix url, but shortly after that you say that you need the UTM parameters for everything that you track outside of Google Analytics. So where exactly is the data that is tracked with tracking template or final suffix ID sent? (1:37 - 2.42)

    Great video as always. What happens if I set a {_campaign} at the account level, but don't specify _campaign anywhere, will the nema of the campaign then be used as a "fallback" utm parameter?

    Thank you very much for your explanation! i followed your guide and i build a very easy structure to manage multiple campaigns. The one thing that i'm still missing: most of my campaigns don't pass the utm-tags through to google analytics. i still find the campaign-names i use in google ads instead of the i defined via a dynamic parameter. do you have an idea what i am still missing?

    Thank you for the good and clear video! However, I do have a question with regard to fetching the campaign name with help of custom variable on the campaign level & adding the {_campaign} to the tracking template on the account level. What I do not fully understand is how the value needs to get inserted under the custom parameter we named {_campaign)= to fetch the campaign name dynamically. In the video (13:57) you inserted the value Search+-+Brand...this is not fetching the campaign name, or?
    Another ossue I do have, is, I cannot find the tracking template on campaign level, only on account level. How to get there in order to set the custom parameter on the campaign level? Thanks alot for your reply!

    • @PaidMediaPros
      @PaidMediaPros  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! These are great questions. Unfortunately, Google doesn't support dynamically pulling the campaign name into URL tracking. Only campaignid. This is why we have to use a manual setup to get the name. I've always found the custom parameter path easier because you only have to create the variable at the campaign level while the tracking template still lives at the account level. You'll still have to manually make those parameters for each campaign.
      To find that control, you need to navigate to the Campaign settings tab for the campaign you want to create the variable for. Depending on which view you see in Google Ads, you may need to click on "Additional" or "Advanced" settings at the bottom to have Campaign URL Options show up. Hope that helps!

    Im still a little confused about what specifically goes into each of the boxes. For the tracking template, do i need to include my actual url before the "{lpurl} ect" and what is the "final URL suffix" box used for?
    thanks in advance

  • @simonorth2727
    @simonorth2727 ปีที่แล้ว

    You mentioned, adding final url suffixes can cause the account to go into review, but the docs you showed were specifically for Search Ads 360 - Engine Accounts. I've found nothing in the normal docs for making those adjustments, that would indicate the same result if done outside 360.
    Can you explain why you believe it would trigger a review outside of a 360 Engine account?

    Great video! I have a question, is there a way to track what headline from the RSA that was clicked?

    • @PaidMediaPros
      @PaidMediaPros  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Isamuddin, unfortunately no. Google doesn't make any way for us to track which headline was clicked. RSAs have up to 3 headlines possible in any given impression, but if you try and track the headline with the URL, it will only populate the portion of ad copy that you wrote in Headline 1 in the ad builder, regardless of which of your headlines was shown.

    If we use google ads parameter tracking template will it be tracked on google analytics 4 such campaign name ?

    • @PaidMediaPros
      @PaidMediaPros  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! There are a couple different ways you can track campaigns from Google Ads to Google Analytics. If you link the accounts directly and enable auto-tagging in Google Ads, then GA4 will use the Google Click ID to track performance. If you don't enable auto-tagging, then GA4 will track the campaigns by whatever parameters you add to the URL.

    so is it good to use both? auto tagging and manual tagging template?

    • @PaidMediaPros
      @PaidMediaPros  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! We usually use both together since Auto-Tagging refers to the Google Click ID (gclid) which allows Google Analytics to track performance and manual tagging is mostly used for your CRM. There are options in the platforms to tell Google Analytics to overwrite manual UTM tags or not, so be sure you choose the right one for your goals. Thanks!

    We have used the following tracking template at account level: {lpurl}?campaign={campaignid}&adgroup={adgroupid}&term={keyword} but we can't get the 'keyword' to auto fill on the test, it just registers as blank everytime. we have also tried adding custom values on the keywords to attribute them as {_keywordterm} and then used this in the template instead and it still pulls through as blank - can anyone help :(

    I'm currenlty using the tracking url "{lpurl}?{adgroupid}&{keyword}&device={device}", but nothing is getting passed through, especially the search term on both GA as well as my 3rd party tracking.

    • @PaidMediaPros
      @PaidMediaPros  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, unfortunately, Google does not allow the Search Term to be added to tracking parameters to be passed through. The only option you have there is keyword, which you already have in place. Additionally, your third party tracking will likely need to be set up in addition to the tracking URL you have in place. My guess is you'll have to add another "&" and then apply whatever tracking you need, but there are likely also help articles that discuss tracking set up on your specific third party platform, i.e. Marketo will have documentation to tell you how to tag your URLs so the Marketo platform can track it. Hope that helps!

      @@PaidMediaPros Yeah found out about no tracking for search queries a few days after I posted this from a Google Ads Specialist. What a crock of sh*t. Can't believe in this day and age, Google won't allow us to track paid search terms within their own tracking platform. Makes no sense.
