  • Guest Bio: Chinazom Sunny Nwabueze is the founder and managing director at Dreamcatchers Performance LLC, a high performance coaching consulting company. Drawing from two decades of experience as a leadership coach and performance psychologist, he recently authored his first book "Real Talk: A New Approach To Men's Mental Fitness,” an Amazon Best Seller. He also just launched a corresponding podcast, "Real Talk: Conversations on Mental Fitness.” Chinazom often says, “There is no sustainable high performance without well-being”
Chinazom is a former colleague of ours from our time working at Valor Performance. We sat down with him to learn more about his work around men and well-being.
Untraining: We want to untrain the idea that men’s and women’s mental health issues look the same and need the same resourcing. Men and women are trained by the culture in different ways so it makes sense their untraining and retraining will look different. When we use the terms men and women we are referring to people who identify as men and women.
Training: What do men do with their sensitivity and their emotional challenges? Men are not often given emotional toolkits to manage the challenging emotional terrain of maturing through life. The toolkits of men and women and what they need are different.
What you will learn from this episode:
Some of the ways men are struggling at midlife
Taking time to acknowledge and shift the paradigms of traditional masculine and feminine roles at home
The value of “banter” or superficial conversations and silence
Connection and group work can be powerful to share similar experiences
