  • We take a trip to Presqu'ile Provincial Park on Lake Ontario to find warblers and other birds.
The research project on Common Terns mentioned in the video is led by Dr. Jennifer Arnold and Dr. Stephen Oswald from Penn State University. Thanks to them for helping protect our Common Terns! See www.friendsofpresquile.on.ca/... for more information.
Errata: Okay, I made a huge error when exporting my images into the video editor. Specifically, I put the wrong file into the place where I say "Blackburnian Warbler". Instead I put the CAPE MAY WARBLER there so the bird is actually the Cape May Warbler. I even had some pretty good shots of Blackburnian :(. Thanks to a keen observer for pointing this out. It just goes to show that if you have a ton of small icons in your Raw developer, you should check the full-size image before exporting....

Hello, Jason- I've been busy and am finally catching up with your more recent videos. It's nice to finally match your image to your very pleasant and articulate voice. The use of poetry was an inspired choice.

Thanks, Michael! Previously I didn't really have the equipment to include myself in my videos, including this one (as you might have noticed the audio was a bit odd there). But I upgraded a few things so if there are more appropriate places to appear, it will be easier to do so!

Good for you for toughing out those midges, looks like it paid off! Great video

They midges were actually not bothersome. They are very gentle insects and don't hurt or bite. One or two might have flown in my mouth through no intention of my own, and so I guess I ate some :)

Yes, they are such beautiful birds! Some of them are especially colourful in the spring due to their breeding plumage.

Yes thanks, someone else pointed that out long ago -- I put an errata somewhere, it shoudl have shown up in the video -- But I'm not sure if it did!

I didn't get a shot of the American Redstart on this trip but otherwise it is fairly common and a very beautiful bird. I used to see them all the time around my house and they were one of the first warblers I would see at the start of each new year.
