    I began my health journey in 5/21. By October I lost 58 pounds and continue my journey today in keeping my blood sugar levels low!!

    I just ordered the kindle book off of Amazon on my iPhone and have started reading the book. You should consider adding it to Audible, when I Ave time, I like to reread or listen to audiobooks so the content sinks into my brain.i been a follower for years. My weight loss goes in stages. I have been 425lbs, 397, 368, now 320 and the battle continues. Just sustaining my weight is a real challenge. Let me sink into your book and get motivated once again.     I pre-ordered the book as soon as I heard about it. You are SO right about "overwhelm", I have often failed due to the number of things I'm trying to change all at once. Since I know my body hates sugar (tho my brain loves it) just having laser focus on this ONE thing I think will be really beneficial. I can't wait to get the book and am using this week as "prep".     I hope lots of people buy the book - what you share in your clips is great! I personally have problems later - once I hit two/three months and the weight loss stalls, other benefits as well and I feel tired, I find I crumble under the wieght of everyday problems and reach for the easy solutions from the past... Can you make a video/ think of a new book for people like me? I cannot get rid of certain foods from my fridge and kitchen entirely because others reach for them. I generally cook with lots of carbs and just serve myself e.g. meat with veggies, but just looking everyday at these pastas and potatoes erodes my willpower over time. The willpower as you write is not strong to sustain the effort on its own. Have you seen or experienced such problems? How can we keep up the new way of eating when the toxic environment is so close? I would love a video about that. Wishing you great successes this year!

    I got my book yesterday and read half before bed. I lost 35 pounds IF with your plan but slowly let some sugar back and I do feel more tired. Not in coffee but other things I buy. I had to smile that my first and only marathon at 45 was with the same time in mind. It was Oprah's I think and I just thought "I could do that" : ) I got quad cramp that slowed me down last mile so 4:48 was it instead, but was still very proud and did get some extra energy crossing the line. I will try to remember that now.

    I found your channel about a week ago and love it! Everything you teach is understandable and makes so much sense. I bought your book today at B&N and started reading it as soon as I got home. Looking forward to getting started. I went Keto/low carb several years ago and lost 40 pounds. I kept it off for just over a year when I caved and had a regular cookie. Gained almost all the weight back. I turned 61 last December and realize that I need to take control of my sweet tooth. I’m hoping this program will help me lose these stubborn pounds for good, but mostly get rid of the sugar cravings I’ve had my whole life. BTW, your intermittent fasting book was right next to this one, so I bought it too!

    It may be helpful to define hunger vs cravings. Eating the survival pack(s) when stressed and craving can pile on the calories and stymie the weight loss. Thanks for the encouragement going into the new year!

    Day Two of Zero Sugar for one month! Hi Dr. Becky~ I preordered your book and started my 30 day sugar free journey yesterday! I read all of your book and appreciate the journaling approach. I'll keep you posted a week at a time! My brother was just diagnosed with Diabetes and has chosen to deny it. He broke his leg and when admitted had an A1c of 13.9 and glucose level of 311. He's 71.     Thanks, Dr. Becky. I am buying a 30 egg flat and hard boil six at a time and keep them un peeled in the fridge. I've also taken to drinking a mug of Bovril Beef (no sugar in the first 4 ingredients.... Not so the Chicken bovril, there is sugar I think even within the first 3 ingredients. The beef bullion cubes and the crystals HAVE sugar!! ) A hot mug of Bovril Beef quickly slacks that munchy temptation.

    Dr. Becky, I just ordered your book, but as others have said, they are temporarily out. But this video helps already. I had already committed to getting rid of sugar and then moving on to other healthy habits. It does seem like getting rid of sugar is absolutely primary. I do have a question about the survival pack. You mentioned beef jerky. Doesn't most jerky have a lot sugar in it? Suggestions? What if sugar is the 4th ingredient in something like that?

      Amazon is restocking now, so the wait should only be a few days. You can find beef jerky without sugar as one of the first three ingredients. If it is the fourth ingredient it meets the acceptable guidelines. The book will fill you in on the details so you are clear on which foods are acceptable.

    I just ordered this book and am very excited to start learng about breakihg the sugar habit loop. I am wondering though, would you consider sugar alcohols, like those found in diet soda as part of the sugar I should be eliminating from my diet?

    I stopped eating sugar a few years ago. The withdrawals were painful and emotional! I didnt eat sugar for 2 years and then I broke down and had an organic fig filled with chocolate ganache, and dipped in a decadent dark /milk chocolate mix! It was worth it!

    I ordered your book and
    am anxiously waiting for it to come in mail. I started no sugar yesterday for the new year.. today I have light headedness, no energy, headache and almost nauseated. Couldn’t believe I got those signs of withdrawal so quickly.. but I also was doing IF and started getting sick close to my 16 hour mark. I had a cutie mandarin because nothing else I was eating helped.. I tried cheese, nuts and a cucumber before that. After eating the cutie I felt a lot better. So now I worry did that break my “no sugar” spree and if natural sugars from fruit are included in that? I really am trying to break my addiction to sugar and get confused on what measures are needed to stop those cravings. Will natural sugars from fruit continue my crave for all sugar? Hope the book clears up a lot of this for me!!

      The book will clear up fruit for you! There are no limitations placed on whole fruit at the beginning of the month. However, as you progress, you’ll be encouraged to reduce your fruit intake to no more than a couple pieces of low-sugar fruits per day, reducing your dependence on the sweet taste.

      Hi Denise! Fruit doesn’t contain added sugar, but most fruits are sweet. There are no limitations placed on whole fruit at the beginning of the month. However, as you progress, you’ll be encouraged to reduce your fruit intake to no more than two servings per day, reducing your dependence on the sweet taste.

    Is it acceptable to eat a 1" square piece of 92% cacao dark chocolate once a day when doing this no sugar diet?

      I recommend avoiding dark chocolate during Zero Sugar / One Month. It’s possible to find dark chocolate made with noncaloric sweeteners or little added sugar, making it a snack that technically abides by the ground rules. However, chocolate is a processed food that will keep your desire for sweets alive.

    Dr. Becky, what can I do about leg cramps? I've tried it all now. When I'm gluten free so come the nightly leg cramps. So bad last night I was up 3 times and can't even stretch them out. Just miserable in WA. The minute I start to get ahead this happens. 😔

    How do you stop sugar when you hate vegetables and salads? I used to be a food tester and I have large bitter tastebuds which was great for my role but sucks when eating real food. Not keen on meat either which means eggs. cheese, chicken and fish. Hard to make meals without veg ( I eat carrots and peas)

    Why would anyone stop sugar ,it’s 4 calories in one gram vs 9 in fats ? overconsumption of sugar is bad for the long run but same goes with fats and protein

      There are no health benefits to refined sugar. It’s not great for our microbiome or our blood vessels. Fresh fruit and veggies have fiber and nutrients our bodies can use. Most people can’t stop at a safe sugar level. I’m one of them. ❤

    Stopping sugar means stopping carbs. All carbs are broken down via the Kreb’s Cycle. Sugar by itself is just empty calories. Maybe people can fit junk into their macros and not suffer a vitamin or mineral deficiency. Maybe they don’t believe the empty calories will cause adverse health effects if eaten in moderation. There is a reason PCPs don’t talk much about nutrition, and it isn’t just because they don’t understand nutrition or they don’t have the credentials. It is because, at this time, there is no evidence that a certain diet is a panacea for ills or a guarantor of longevity.
