I noticed, if I only use apps, I'm starting to think that men are awful, but that's not true at all. I think some people just completely lost their social skills during covid lol. We need to come back to reality :D
Exactly. It's finally dawned on me that a lot of people on these apps are there because they lack regular social skills. So we're exposed to an unusual set of people on these platforms, not necessarily demonstrative of society (or at least, of "quality guys").

You know, I'm a shy person, less than before now. But when I was in my 20's I needed to drink in a bar so I could even think about talking to a stranger in those places. It took a lot of courage to go and speak to somone on my own. It took time but when I stopped drinking 9 years ago things got better, you have to learn to trust yourself and not to be scared of making mistakes when you speak and not be scared of being rejected. When you're under the influence of alcohol that doesn't apply, but if you don't drink, you have to learn to deal with those fears, it took me time, but now i'm no longer scared to speak with a group of people on a stage or in front of a group of people, before it would not even be something I would see myself doing, speaking in front of 4-5 people was my maximum. So i think that if you get into it, you'll discover that alcohol doesn't fix those situations, it just nums them, they come back after, until you work on them and fix them. Maybe try to go in a bar without drinking any alcohol to practice and see how it goes 😉

I was traveling alone in Europe and decided my train ride from Budapest to Rome was just too long to endure so I decided to give myself a lay-over, as it were, in Munich. I booked a cheap room, dropped my bags, bought some things to eat from a market (not a store), and opened my map to find Englischer Garten for a picnic. Although I was mere steps from historic Munich I saw a man up ahead on the path walking his bicycle and thought, "Hmm, he looks naked." A few paces closer and yep, nude dude. We passed, I followed the path around a pond and beyond a grove of trees to find an expansive lawn with acres of completely naked people. Am I being punked? Is this real? Anyway, I was there to enjoy some al fresco dining, so why not add some eye candy to the menu. Mind you, anyone can choose to be naked. Anyone. Age and body mass index are no barriers. It was not as exciting as it might seem. There was one guy wading through a knee-high creek running through the park with an appendage that, in all honesty, had me questioning reality. "Is that yours or are you wearing it," and "Have you seen a doctor about that" were the kinds of thoughts running through my head. In time an attractive young man who I learned later claimed to be a Lacoste model settled nearby and explained this was common throughout Germany and was permitted in designated areas. It didn't matter that it was like 2 p.m. on a Tuesday in the shadow of downtown Munich. I asked if photos were permitted as I was sure no one I knew would believe it existed, or that I had visited, and he protested. "You'll get an argument if you try," he explained, continuing, "It's an invasion of privacy." Privacy? It's a public park. Nonetheless, I heeded his advice. I'm often asked if I decided to join in the fun, but alas, I'm just too American for that (and I didn't want to be the subject of some other tourist's review of the offerings), but hey, I got this story out of it. Regardless of the location and circumstances, a good cultural exchange can be had anywhere if you approach it honestly and earnestly. I did, and it seems you did as well. Sorry for the novella, just sharing.
I'm the same way about not holding a stare too long. I'm just used to not locking eyes too long with anyone because I dont want it to be uncomfortable like you said. I always see guys I think are gay, but many times you just don't really know.
The guys on UK beaches mostly tend to be 70 plus they all just walk up and down but when I was in Ibiza, the men were extremely forward and wouldn’t take no for an answer.
