- A visualized history of the Geometry Dash Demon List, from both the forums and pointercrate, showing how much GD has changed in the last few years. Also shows the victors of each hardest demon, and the time they beat it. Wayback machine used to find most of the data, until regular updates were posted on twitter/discord. There's probably about 120 different version of the demon list recorded, resulting in a little over 3000 data values in excel.

God I remember when Bloodbath was still a top demon. I remember when someone made a GD Forums thread saying "WHOA guys, Bloodbath has fallen out of the top 10"
yeah, crazy that it almost remained top 25 till bloodlust came out, huge level for it's time
Blood bath was and probably will remain the biggest difficulty spike this game has and will ever see (unless icecave finishes silent clubstep), second to bloodlust(this is a wierd one it took forever to get a first victor),then zodiac, the top one now really isn't that crazy a jump for top players

Everyone always sleeps on the fact that phobos was the first level to surpass bloodbath in difficulty
No Sonic Wave existed and was rated for a time before either of them.

I love how people say that Zodiac was the longest lasting #1 demon since Bloodbath and Bloodlust is just like - "Um, remember me? Yeah I was #1 for over a year too you know..."
Barely anyone acknowledged it as top 1 when Crimson Planet was verified
@@valeriewithsalt True but by that logic Bloodbath should have been dethroned by Phobos well before BB hit the 1 year mark but it didn't because BB was viewed differently at the time. The same can then be said about Zodiac and Thinking Space. There's no doubt there was a time in the GD community that we viewed TS as harder than Zodiac so by all accounts the big three #1's were never truly #1 for that long. BB with Phobos, BL with CP, and Zodiac with TS.
@@floaterstorm7937 thinking space is easier than zodiac watch the list to see the diference. Crimson planet never was top 1 cause it didnt get rated until zodiac was top 1, and when cp got rate moved bloodlust to 3. Phobos was considered impossible and lost rate. Zodiac was the logest top 1 but BB was the longest without victors. :)
@@vlazz_3251 Thinking Space today is considered vastly easier than Zodiac but back when Atomic verified it people went crazy over the level's difficulty and called it harder than Tartarus. If the level was rated immediately upon verification it would have been #1 above Zodiac and would later be moved down when top 10 grinders like nSwish and Mycrafted beat the level fairly easily. Crimson Planet was not #1 at first, but became #1 for a few hours after Zodiac was moved to the legacy list very briefly due to xander's hack-verification and the changes he was doing to the level at the time. Unnerfed Phobos was the Phobos hack-verified by Tygrysek and the one considered impossible at the time and lost a rating after Riot exposed Tygrysek. I was referring to the nerfed Phobos verified by KrmaL which today sits above BB but for a long time sat below BB. Zodiac was placed on the list on March 9th, 2019 at #1 and was dethroned by Tartarus on February 10th, 2020. Zodiac failed to hit the 1-year mark while Bloodlust was placed at #1 on February 18th, 2018 and officially dethroned by Zodiac on March 9th, 2019, almost hitting 13 months long. Bloodbath was placed at #1 around August 12th, 2015 and was dethroned by Sakupen Hell sometime in early-to-mid September 2016 on a lost copy of a gd forums demon list, very likely passing the 13 month mark. Zodiac was, however, the longest lasting TRUE hardest level, with BB falsely being above Phobos and BL only being #1 for so long due to CP's lack of rating. Yes you are right, thats why Zodiac is considered the longest top 1. Also thinking space was considered harder than unnerfed yatagarasu and when it got rate wasnt considered zodiacs dificulty beacause it placed 4, harder than bl and easier than kenos.

Always wanted to do something like this. I have a (probably inaccurate) list of the Top 10 demons from before June 2015 all the way back to November 2013 if you would like, taking info from Stormfly, other old lists and the GD servers themselves.

Bloodlust stayed at #1 so long that the entire extension song was played and then was perfectly ended by zodiac.

Intersting how now insane demon now was in some time the hardest demons
Fun Fact: Tartarus now have a cumulative 339 days at number one, if at the end of May no "Upcoming TOP-1 levels" will be verified and rated Tartarus will be the third level to reach 365 days at number one. Probably this means that is one of the biggest jump in difficulty ever done.

Yeah there are a few levels that were built in a previous update but verified in a later one. Sonic Wave, Sakupen Hell and the Hell Factory were all 1.9 levels (technically, the hell factory received a 2.0 update, but anyways.)

That jump from Sakupen Hell to Sonic Wave still impresses me, probably the biggest hardest demon jump ever
On par with cataclysm to bloodbath imo, both huge jumps
Zodiac is according to nSwish, 3 times as hard as Crimson Planet. That means the biggest hardest demon jump is Bloodlust to Zodiac.
@@ksl9252 no way Zodiac is this much harder, it's 3 times harder than maybe something like Bloodbath or Sakupen Hell but definitely not Crimson Planet. nSwish obviously exaggerated about the difference. But I agree it's harder than Crimson Planet, just not that much
@@Sevant Shock, TMN, Pen, and Enlex. These 4 parts when removed all the other parts would still be harder than Crimson Planet. Gameplay wise, I'd say Zodiac is harder.
@@ksl9252 I've seen the way other players who have beaten talk about those two levels and while Zodiac is harder it's not massively harder at all. Gameplay-wise Zodiac is easier than Crimson Planet literally every top player I have talked to in the comments section have said that. Zodiac's difficulty gameplay-wise is usually considered a little bit harder than Lucid Nightmares (which has the 8th hardest gameplay). Lot's of Zodiac's difficulty comes from its length which is almost 3 1/2 long.
Nswish isn't the only good player. Most people consider Mycrafted's opinion more valuable as well because he doesn't exaggerate as much. Also, the difference between Sakupen Hell and Sonic Wave is 96 spots on the list.

It's so fascinating how levels become harder and harder and people beat them... where is the limit?
I'm actually starting to believe that there is none, with enough time and persistence anything can be beaten legitimatly. Espacially seeing how speedrunners are doing frame-perfect inputs in their runs, showing what humans are capable of.
@Random Gaming theoretically silent circles is possible, but if it was ever done legit, it would be in at least 100 years.

So quick question are you doing this by date of vacation or date of creation to determine if a level is 1.9, pre 1.9, or 2.0 and later. Just questioning for levels like thinking space where they were created in 1.9, updated in 2.0 and verified in 2.1
I remember when Bizarre Phantasm and Hell Factory first came out I wanted them to surpass Bloodbath now they are completely irrelevant levels
