      I wonder what kind of contact David signed that allowed Neistate full creative control and rights over all the footage?
      David must have just REALLY TRUSTED Neistate to allow him to do whatever he wanted with the film but I'm just wondering what legal framework Neistat established to prevented David from objecting the film's direction/narrative or release.

    I asked Emily D Baker today about legal issues and she did say that Jeff has a case against David civilly. she doesn’t know why this wasn’t reported at the hospital originally as a horrific accident that needed investigation? a police report should have been filed in the first place! i’m shocked also! didn’t they call an ambulance? or were they so negligent that they actually decided they would try and cover up david’s awful mistakes above jeff’s actual life and bring him to the hospital themselves, while he maybe dying? like what the actual F**K? I’M so confused 🤔 And still… what did they say at the hospital? so many questions… Jeff needs a good lawyer and David needs to just get off of TH-cam!!!

Also Jeff choose to get on the rope and swing, no one forced him to do that & he could have very easily have said NO but he didn’t and now he along with David have to live with the consequences of their actions. There's also social conditioning to take into account, as well.
      David was clearly the man in power here, and often people in positions like that get drunk off the idea that they can do anything they want and consequences don't apply to them. That's why they abuse and take advantage of people in the first place.

    David is very immature. Like how he says he feels like people think he's a villian or something is such a childish way to see it. I don't think he purposely tried to hurt Jeff. He got carried away and excited and didn't think any of the stunts through. They should've been wayyy more prepared specially if they were doing such crazy stunts!
    And this blame game is making it even worse. He needs to take accountability for his actions. And obviously he should've been a good friend to Jeff. He's not a villian he's a coward.

  • @Pandurz
    @Pandurz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

    While I understand the criticisms of Casey, I think people are forgetting that he has his own brand, his own audience, his own style of presenting his content. Coverage of an event or issue doesn't need to be brand new, never before heard information to be good coverage, it just needs to be delivered well and in a new way.
    Sounds to me he did that, someone who knows nothing of David would watch this and understand why people are so invested in the subject. TH-cam has been exempt from so many media laws until recent years because it's such a grey area between work and personal, I haven't gotten to watch it yet (don't know where I can?) but I'd like to, because it sounds like he managed to let the story speak for itself.
    Almost like, it's not about David as a person and any judgement calls on that, but whether or not that matters for someone in a position of power, like David, and whether or not we should excuse it. Like, it's not about him being a shitty friend to Jeff, it's about the fact that it was a workplace injury and transparency about policy and what he plans to do to prevent it in the future, owning up and compensating. (Instead he just seems like he doesn't care, shit like that makes me really wonder why Liza left. Mainstream media had no issues welcoming her with open arms.) David hasn't just been a lame friend, he's been a bad boss, hiding behind that and pretending none of his business moves were business. Someone David's size in success, I feel like any stunt like that should have the same liabilities any other TV or movie set would.

    I feel like this kind of further proves Emma chamberlains view on youtube about how people would just use each other to further their own careers. It's sad, and some people will say thats the business side of being a youtube mainly an up incoming one or one thats already been established. But that's not justification for risking one's safety point blank, period. David should have learned this when jonah nearly smashed his head on the edge of a pool with a scooter or even with the flame thrower. Instead, he exhibited reckless behavior throughout his youtube career and never took accountability for it, nor has he taken responsibility for risking his friends' livelihoods. It's also amusing because he can point the finger at everyone else, but he doesn't know how to act appropriately when it's on him. Also, the over-sexualization of Corinna like yeah, she does onlyfans, and yeah, she may be a super sexual person IRL, but that doesn't give them the right to use that as a gateway to have a bit in the vlog. It's disgusting and kind of desperate, in my opinion.
    Another thing that pissed me off was his comments about the insider article. You say you don't want to victim blame, but here you are, victim, blaming her for going to insider disclosing her story all because you think the website wants clicks. No offense, but if David didn't use his friends for content with the extreme lengths that he goes to, half of the stuff that happened might not have actually happened as a lot of these things could have been prevented if David truly cared about others. Cause the only act of caring he does is buying his friends cars or giving them money which yeah, thats nice, but at the same time, it's all about content with him to make it look like he is an excellent person to blind us from the reality of whats actually going on.

  • @lilypowder1

    For years people have always said how good of a person David was by buying his friends cars, trips, etc. but now I’m just seeing a master manipulator. Of course his “friends” would go out of their way to do these stunts or do things they didn’t want to because look at what David did for them, look at what he gave them! “David just bought me my dream car, Super Bowl tickets, etc. am I really going to tell him no right now?” Everyone can say that these people were grown adults with their own autonomy, which is true, but can adults not get manipulated? The entire Internet was manipulated by David’s image; his friends aren’t immune because their adults. You have this person that over the years has cultivated this environment to where you can’t say no/are pressured to say yes & the gifts and trips that you receive are incentives for your behavior to continue. If this was a 1-1 relationship, everyone would be yelling toxicity & for the other person to run but does that somehow disappear when it’s a group of people? Look at Shane Dawson - he is right back getting praise & views. Look at Jeffree Star or James. Charles - anyone who should get hated on & deserves to lose their platform just lays low & shows back up with a brand change like they are born again.
    Then the people like Jenna Marbles, with genuine conscious & morals gives up her platform for something that was insensitive, but would have been overlooked eventually - all because she genuinely feels bad & sorry. This is the huge difference in the types of famous internet people. But it's so hard to tell which ones are genuine until you watch someone get canceled.

    To think, if it weren't for that incident with Jeff, David would've never been exposed. The worrisome thing is, regardless of him being exposed, once people rise to that level, it's very rare that they lose their status because enough people will still watch and promote them. Enough people's entertainment becomes more important than moral.

  • @oliviaskye5090
    @oliviaskye5090 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I think David struggles to understand that even if this was an accident, that doesn't automatically excuse everything. The fact of the matter is he was doing very dangerous stunts very carelessly and without the right amount of precaution, and this entire situation with Jeff shows how bad things can get. David wants to be 'fun' and I get that, but at the end of the day someone got very hurt and could have very well died doing this stunt that he was responsible for, and he needs to take more accountability. David keeps saying he 'blames himself BUT..." There's always an excuse that follows like 'jeff sent me this dm' or 'jeff was the one who wanted to do it.' It's as if he (David) is trying to shift blame and that to me is one of the biggest problems.
    But I think the documentary was right to end with the clown music as if to allude to the fact that nothing has changed and David is back to his crazy ways because that's the truth, and I think it's important that people realize the danger of David returning to youtube.

    If you're looking for accountability, which I was- this documentary turned out, surprisingly- to be a washout. It was so hyped up. I was expecting so much more truth and that Casey was the one who would bring it to us, and none of us could wait to see David Dobrik's story laid out bare. But it definitely was not that.
    It missed on so many levels. Casey looked like he was trying to please both parties, and in the process, dropped the ball for the money.
    The thing is Jeff is not surrounding himself with good people right now, and he has had a TBI - a Traumatic Brain Injury... which affects his cognitive thinking. He needs sound, loyal, intelligent counsel around him, or DD is going to lie his way out of this mess as well.
    Dobrik does not believe himself capable of being responsible for any negative actions. End of story.

These are grown adults in his vlogs with the ability to make their own decisions. Idk why that because they are in his video that he is the sole person blamed for when things his friends do go wrong.
