2:06 Nguyen cong phuong is not even a regular starter on the Vietnamese national team anymore. Popular more as a fan favorite than for his skill or talent. No disrespect to him but he’s more of a failed golden boy. He tends to be very selfish in my opinion, overdribbles the ball and loses it. Poor iq, and poor finishing. Had 3 different chances abroad and failed miserably in each which isn’t a surprise. Also played in Japan at age 21, while a player like quang hai who has way higher potential and talent was kept locked up until age 25 by Hanoi before he could venture abroad, slowing down his development by a lot. Quang hai should of went to japan in 2019 if his club hasn’t rejected the offer to develop himself. He’s the only Vietnamese player who actually has European potential, his technical and iq of the game is fantastic. 4:47 Pau does not have a Vietnamese owner. Unlike all the other viet players in the past being loaned for marketing, quang hai is actually the only Vietnamese player signed to a real contract, his is 2 years with an option for 1 more. He isn’t marketing, and hes actually being used in his club. quang hai has real European potential, probably the only player in Vietnam with European potential actually. Very unfortunate he had a late start to his European career, and so now he will have to prove he can adapt to ligue 2 even if he has the talent to do so it won’t be easy, a jump from Vietnam to France is a huge difference in quality to get used to. He’s not a “Messi” by the way. Don’t understand the nickname as he does not play like Messi. He’s a midfielder who’s best asset is creating chances and assists for others, not scoring, though he also can score from long range. Meanwhile the only other player in my opinion who has potential abroad is Nguyen hoang duc. Unlike cong phuong who you mentioned, hoang duc is a regular starter on the national team, he’s probably the 2nd best player in Vietnam. You’ve probably only heard about cong phuong because he’s a Vietnamese fan favorite, but he’s not at all even one of the top players of Vietnam at the moment. Nguyen hoang duc on the other hand is a midfielder like hai who also has interest abroad especially from Korea and japan. Unfortunately like quang hai, he’s being controlled and locked up by his club due to the horrendous Vietnamese youth contracts. In my opinion, Nguyen quang hai has European potential, while hoang duc has Japanese potential. The rest of the players in Vietnam however, have a high chance of failing anywhere they go beyond Vietnam. The Vietnamese captain do hung dung is also another good midfielder who I would rank as the 3rd or 4th best player in Vietnam, but he’s getting old and doesn’t really have any foreign interest at all.
Good vid dom. I do think he will get some minutes and improve at pau
Thanks bro. Interesting story this

Great read. Thanks for the insight on all the Vietnamese players mentioned
This is spot on. Quang Hai and Hoang Duc are the two brightest stars in Vietnam now. Cong Phuong has fallen behind over the past couple of years.
