I'm doing this walk next week as my first ever overnight hike. I really enjoyed being able to see what the trail is like - thanks for sharing.

I'm quite possibly doing this next year with the family after your recommendation and this video! How bad was the Durras crossing? That's the only part that makes me a bit nervous because I'll be carrying a smol boy (who can swim but obviously would be dragged away by currents). They advertise this as a family friendly walk suitable for first time walkers, so I'm guessing it is not too bad?

Hey Don, I hope your Kiandra to Thredbo walk went well.... I've just rolled into Hotham. I didn't hit the Durras crossing at low tide on this walk and it was still only just over my knees... it should be doable for you guys providing there hasn't been a big dump of rain or something... I'd be planning on ferrying Miles over on your back and then going back for your pack though.

@@goinferal5815 thanks for the info, that sounds perfectly fine. I've done some pretty risky crossings in my time (chest deep across the Torbay Inlet or crossing WA's Murry River in fast flowing conditions probably being the most extreme) but not with a small child's life to consider!
Kiandra to Thredbo went mostly well but ended up walking out to Perisher for my last night as Charlottes Pass was closed and tenting along the Snowy River after a day of constant rain was unappealing. Glad I double bagged my clothes at your suggestion and had a drying room as the lodge I stayed at as I didn't take into account that an umbrella would run off a LOT of water directly onto my pack. I don't think I've ever been so soggy, plus the water killed my phone screen! Still, I loved the bit from the powerlines on Day 2 right through to Whites River Hut, that was some really magical alpine scenery!
