Excellent video. So many videos on youtube leave out small but crucial details like how to remove the filter - which I probably would have figured it out in an hour or two. But what many people who make these videos seem to forget is that people who search youtube don't have a clue and leaving out small details like that makes their video almost useless. And by the way, That was my problem - pilot light going out and popping the door switch. After watching your video I removed the filter and cleaned it and the flame arrestor and that fixed it. thanks.
Thank you so much for this video. I was able to troubleshoot my hot water heater and fix it myself. Turns out it was just the thermopile and the plumber I called in told me that the whole valve was dead and needed to be replaced for $700. An hour watching your video an hour fixing it and twenty-five bucks for a new part and I got hot water! Thanks again
I wish I saw this video before wasting an entire weekend following other videos regarding the problem I am currently having.... the most professional and education video series .... great job guys... keep up the great work you do!
thanks for the video. we had vent cleaning today for dryer and then water heater stopped working, we followed the instruction after 18 mins approx in video and we were able to kick back the boiler. amazing guys work, this really helped us get boiler back to working
i was desperately searching for where the electrical power source was for my water heater's control valve.. because I was getting a voltage reading of zero volts at the red and white wires and was trying to find a breaker that may have been tripped or a fuse that was blown.. Thanks to this video I was able to figure out that the power source was an internal thermopile, and all I needed to do to generate some voltage was to fire up the pilot flame! Got my water heater heating water again, and cold showers are a thing of the past! Thanks!
Thank you fellows, door sensor tripped and was dirty beneath. We reside in a rental and the brilliant rehab folks decided the water heater needed to be in the tiny laundry room with the lint and absolutely no filtering...not even a place to put on. Thank you again!
Thank you for the video!!! Really helpful in understanding this topic. I have the issue where the indicator light blinks 7 times. I can turn on the heater and it heats water. But after a few hours, it turns off and water gets cold through out the house.
Thanks guys....and I need a class on how to light too...I’ll go to website, you guys are great teachers...speak fast enuff offer good information...excellent..A+
Very useful video. I have the exact same system. I have what I believe is a failing thermocouple. I used a multimeter and have confirmed a lighter produces energy through it, but have no clue how to use a multimeter. It would have been very useful to add this in your already useful video.
Hi, really like the video. It's very informative and a lot of good ideas. The guys were talking about a filter kit for the water heater. Where can I get a kit for my home and one for my daughters home?
Can you explain the temperature settings as to what the A, B and C relates to the degrees Fahrenheit. I heard more problems occur at hotter temperatures.
Thank you for your show. I have 2007 A O Smith Pro max plus 50 gal/ natural gas, I need to know the location of the anode rod for this water heater because I don't see it on the top of the tank.
Great video and information but I would like to go over one of the big problems I see in your installations.None of you demo water heaters are installed with a drip leg/ sediment trap before the gas control. Having worked in the natural gas industry for 35 years I can assure you any debris that would hit this particular gas control can be problematic at best. So my question is , why was the manufacturer's installation instructions not followed on these particular installations? Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this is a requirement of a National Fuel code as well.
Is it possible to replace the non-electronic gas valve to electronic gas valve? I guess the old thermo couple will need to be replaced as well to get additional voltage.
It would be nice if you could work on different water heater models. Mine is the one to ya’ll’s left. It doesn’t seem to have a reset button at all. Also my status light is blinking but i still have no hot water. So i’m at a loss. My landlord is on vacation haven’t had hot water in 3 days, i’m getting aggravated.
Ok guys I need advise or help.... I installed a new honey well and I'm able to get the pilot on a single light flashes I turn the knob to hot. The burner catches but, then it completely turns off with no light signal. What's not going right for me? What could be my issue?
Had to clean underneath. Finally after i was able to get pilot light to light up. Still no status light. I can even use control knob to turn up the heat . flame still goes out though. Been dealing with for a couple days. Help
Thanks @HDSupply for the video! My door switch had tripped. After resetting the switch, I was able to get the pilot light on with the normal status light; however, after about 5 minutes, I noticed that the burner flame was completely yellow instead of the typical blue. I turned off the heater and I could hear slight water drip/sizzle (similar to when you have water dripping on the flame). My guess, as a layman, is that the water has some sort of internal leak. At this point what is the recourse? Is my diagnosis correct? If so, is the water heater servicable or does it need to be replaced?
Hi, The situation I have is not described here. When I push the knob and hit ignite button, pilot comes and the status light blinks normal. No error codes as it blinks 1 time every 3 seconds. As soon as I let go the knob, the pilot goes out. What could be the issue?
hi I have no Hot water....all the lights are on .....on the white Rovers intelli.vent.......i unplugged it to try and reset it...but all the lights come back on again....now what
We just bought a brand new townhouse, which came with this brand new thing. However, me and my husband are taking cold bath because we don’t know how to turn the water heater on. To make matters worse, I’m terrified of two things in life; to get electrocuted and get bit by snakes. My husband and are from Brazil and reading the manual is quite challenged. Please help us.
Thanks for the video. My water heater broke down and I followed your troubleshooting methods. I wasn't getting the status light but after a day I do see 7 flashes when I light my pilot. If I let go of the pilot knob, the pilot light goes out. If I continue to hold the pilot knob, the status changes to normal (1 flash) but the LED dies out after sometime. Should I change the gas valve ?

You guys did a great job of educating basic homebodies like me--Thank you!!!
Really loved your video. Helped me fix my water heater in just 10 minutes! Would definitely recommend to others.

Thank you again!
+William Roberts Jr *one*, sorry!
I have a Honeywell digital control valve on my water heater, and it is
flashing a code 5 which is temp sensor failure. What do I need to
replace?
Thank you for the video!!! Really helpful in understanding this topic. I have the issue where the indicator light blinks 7 times. I can turn on the heater and it heats water. But after a few hours, it turns off and water gets cold through out the house.
You can wedge a small screwdriver beside the pilot dial to hold it in while you test your thermopile.
Thanks guys....and I need a class on how to light too...I’ll go to website, you guys are great teachers...speak fast enuff offer good information...excellent..A+
Love the intense seriousness.
Thanks for the video. Gonna trouble shoot this weekend. Wish me luck :)
Thanks you guys are the best
Talk clearly an and know what you
Talking about everything make sense

Fantastic video, you guys are pros !
Also check for water in the combustion chamber. Just remove the two screws and pull the burner back and inspect the chamber.
I have a code 5 flash on the Honeywell gas valve, what do I need to repair/replace.Thank you
Great video. Good information. Is it possible to adjust the pilot on the new style "digital" valve? Where is the adjustment screw?Tony
thanks bn trying figure out for days and ur system works glad don't have to replace

Just bought a new AOSmith 40 gallon , how hard is it to change the thermopile out to get too .

Very in-depth 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😀
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks, I fixed my water heater!
Excellent video. Thank you
Glad you liked it!

I have no status light, cannot light up pilot, and some water in the drain-pan. Is it normal to have water in the drain-pan?
Good info
