I had a 200D (115) from 1983 to 1985. Great car, rugged and reliable. I remember holidays in Monte Carlo and the French Riviera when I sat on the hood, leaning against the windshield and watched the sunset with a bottle of French red wine. You couldn't do that with a modern car without risking scratches and dents. I bought the car with 275.000 km and sold it with about 350.000 km. I only changed the oil and the filters. These cars were intended to last, not like todays cars with computer toys
and a old parr botle fits perfect between the ashtrey and the shifter, i used to put it there while smoking a joint in the way to the nearest beach from my city ,117 km´s in old roads, this at 70 km/hour in third gear
This model has it's angles o beauty. In some of them it looks pretty nice. That goes for the front too. I ownt a 1974's w114 230.6. and rare thing is that once you have one you learn to love it. The design lines that goes front the front until the end, the ones that drops the rear of the car down are the inspirations of some more recent models like the E Class, the CLS or the CL.
They were sold under many models. I had a 250 gas engine, 6 cylinder, there was the 280 6 cylinder also but with twin overhead cam, there was also a 4 cylinder 230 , 4 cylinder diesel and a 5 cylinder diesel.
I just got a 250 c from 72 with the 4spd automatic. It has some rust and needs new brakes and a tune up but in general I got mine with very few issues, the engine sounds fine, it's healthy enogh, the same goes for the transmision and the interior is also fine. I hope to get this car fully restored
I love my Mercedes 230! I think these were the yuppie cars of the 70s ... like the BMW 3 series were in the 80s. The Merc W114/w115 also had very trendy color selections.
I don't know what exactly the mechanics did, but the bill never exeded 150 Deutsch Marks at that time. The good thing about the car was that I had 3 accidents with it. Others were guilty. So I got new 2 new rear wings and 1 new front wings plus new fenders for free. Modern plasic cars suck ;-))

Habe ich jahrelang als 230/6 gefahren. Nachts auf der Autobahn, ohne Verkehr, bei Vollgas und Tacho 185 war der Tank nach 250 km fast leer.
