CC, that has been my 2021 season. However, this has been the season I have learned so much: tides, lunar cycle, match the hatch, finding locations with several spots. If I can't catch fish, I will catch knowledge and experience.
Buddy ,honesty about tough times on the water and your instructional video’s is what a lot of us have been waiting for on youtube.Appreciate definitely hope I run into this weekend.
GREAT INFO! WELL SAID. I think in January I only caught one fish the whole month, lol. But like you said, it's not always about landing a fish. I have found new fishing spots and was able to locate drop offs, deep & shallow cuts. This is also my first year on learning how to fish with artificial. HAVING A BLAST! IT WSS AWESOME MEETING YOU & MIKE AT THE HOUSTON FISHING SHOW, THANK YOU FOR THIS GREAT INFO! STAY COOL... TIGHT LINES!
I really enjoy watching your tips regarding fishing a whole bunch. Looks like you’re always looking for ways to help improve your skills and show others as well. The one thing I’d like to mention and that is I would hope to see you have a long career of fishing and teaching others. What I’m getting at is that I strongly feel that you may consider starting to take better care of your skin. Most of us don’t think much about it but I’ve had several friends of mine get skin cancer from continued sun exposure with little to no sun protection. They’ve loved fishing all their lives but have now paid the price..This is only my suggestion which may mean nothing but I’d hate to see it happen to you. Tight lines friend.
Enjoyed, I was using artificial targeting reds. I landed a solid 19". First time for me, so tomorrow I will be at seawolf park. Going to be using a corky for thr first time & using only artificial. That's how PUMPED & CONFIDENCE I AM! TIGHT LINES!
Thanks Caleb. That is the exact mindset I chose to have after a late wade the other night. Perfect conditions but not one fish. But I learned a lot about a great new area. Great video and message.
I been getting my teeth kicked lately so it makes me feel better it’s not just me. Thanks for all the info and really enjoy the encouragement. Keep em coming!!!
I really enjoy these types of episodes because believe it or not when the fishing is slow it gives me ability to use those words of wisdom and help myself to continue the grind in search of that big one! Thx for the great content.
It’s tough having guest on my boat this time of year cause more often than not I have to the classic “that’s why it’s called fishing not catching “ nothing worse than finding a perfect situation and end up scratching out 1 or 2 small fish for an entire day. People have a weird perception of saltwater fishing that it is always good lol
Love the content! I’ve been fishing for 49 years and learn every time out on the water. Thank you for all your insight, I’ve definitely applied it to my outings.
Captain Caleb, its the Rookie. Thanks for the pep talk. In my new sport of fishing, I have experienced much of what you talked about. The one thing that I have worked on is staying discipline with my plan. From locating fish to staying with the color and tye of lures I chose to use for the conditions. I have found my trips become more successful with discipline. Thanks for the video! Hope to see you at the GotFish expo
I don’t change the lures up much. If it’s thundered recently that can really shut them down. I just got done with a tournament and when i saw thunder then morning I immediately switched from my game plan of fishing shallow to fishing deep. Day one, it paid off. Day two, lost a couple that woulda put us up there. Rain, not a problem. Thunder, a problem. Even if it was a couple hours before, it can get em locked up.
I’d like to see more stuff like because man it’s so true and so easy to over look and even more so how tuff fishing has been for me the past few times! Keep it up Capt hoping to come fish with you in April!
Capt, thanks for doing what you do. The information and insight you provide are valuable to anyone that is watching. Knowledge is power! Hope to see you at the Fishing Expo!
I really enjoy your videos. I fell in love with fishing 2 years ago so I try to read and watch everything I can get my hands on. Your content is truly some of the best out there, not only do you give great tips but you inspire as well! Keep it up!
Great video as always Capt. I find myself in a similar situation where I doubt myself but in reality I'm doing everything right but the fish aren't biting. If anything this video was a friendly reminder to stay positive even when it's tough and learn from it. I really wish I could go to the expo but Galveston is quite a bit away. Tight lines brotha
Hey Capt! Any chance you’ve got some tips on how to rig a soft plastic on a jighead perfectly and consistently? With most paddle tail and sand eel type baits, I find my self almost ruining a bait trying to rig it straight and at the ideal length of the hook.
Great insight as always brother! So after watching this latest video it got my mind to thinking about some of my tougher days fishing..and while Im far from a guide I can definitely hold my own and usually always find fish under most circumstances...However it got me to wondering, like man if I was a guide on a brutal day or even a not too bad weather day and you just cant find the fish, how it must really screw with your head...like man these folks just dropped a couple hundred bucks to fish with me today and we just struck out..Theres been a few trips ive taken customers, friends that dont fish much, or what have you and man the conditions are right, baits there, or everywhere and we just cant get it done..it gets my nerves a little rattled...So, how do you manage to keep your head right and stay focused even when it seems to be a lost cause..Always love to hear how the pros manage to continue to produce no matter what the conditions..Thanks again bud!
It’s sucks when you are new and really screws with your head. After a while, it still sucks, but doesn’t get in your head as bad. You know if you did or didn’t put out the effort and make the tough calls to give your customers the best shot at a good day.
Great video! I’d love to see a future video on wading safety - from how to anchor the boat (not sure if one Power Pole is enough) to gear to conditions/situations to avoid. Lots of horror stories out there. Thanks!
Everyone and there mother wants to be a guide. I'm from the Corpus area and I heard there was some 5,000 + guides. But maybe 50 are REAL ACTUAL guides. Idk i say just enjoy fishing, once your a guide it becomes a job.
Hey man, i got a video suggestion. Maybe because English is not my native language but I do speak it fluently, I don’t know what many fishing terms are when you and the bite me podcast talk about stuff. Example an eddy, pothole in the water. Maybe its just me , so I wish there was some video of what that is in the water, because I don’t know what im looking for
Well said!

Heckuva job discussing mindset. Trying to return from every fishing trip a better angler is a great mindset.
Very good talk

Awesome message! Mental game is to me is a lot of times the difference in a killer day or what killed a day!

You’re right. I need to pay more attention to that.
Great channel Capt. Thanks for all the knowledge that you share. Shout out to StixHD for turning me on to your channel.

Any thoughts on fishing durning the rain? What to look for and what baits are best? I feel fish don’t mind getting wet so....🤷🏻♂️

Another great video thanks for sharing. What month do you think is usually the best month to fish???
I love the spring and fall, here in Matty
Thanks for answering my question sir

Great video Capt! We all need to remember that message- it ain’t going to work every time.
great video, gonna keep trying to get those fish!!!
True statement . When what your doing don't work, do something different. It can't get worse.
Great video man love it
Do you think that the bite is better in the evening and night with the moon right now?
Earlyyyyy, mid day, and late
Night is always a good chance.
Solidddddd advice! I like this direction!
The few fish I have caught laying on the bottom tasted terrible so I ain’t complaining
Love it my man !! Always great information
As always good stuff bro
One thing I have learned about fishing is there is no such thing as expert or pro fisherman, they all are fisherman who have time on the water.
Great message! Hope to meet you at the expo.
Yes i will be there hope i get to get to meet one of my mentors
