Hey, have you heard of any comparable software alternatives out there for a Content-Aware Fill?
4:21 I thought the tool was not working properly for me, but it was indeed working! just not showing up for me because the loading bar was hidden. Bruuh. Thank you
Awesome…so glad it helped you got it sorted out ! 👍
Awesome
Awesome! Glad it helped! 👍
Sooo helpful-- thanks so much!! One question: if you have a problem and need to redo a section of the clip is the best way to delete and redo? Because after processing PNG layer is baked in and not editable, correct?
So glad it helped...thank you. I'm not exactly sure what your project looks like, so it's hard for me to give a definitive answer from memory, but if it's easy for you to start over and get the results you are looking for, give it a shot! 👍
@@MikeMurphyCo thanks!! Just asking because it often happens w masking that a bit will peek out and you need to retouch! But I'll for sure give it a try- many thanks!!
hey dude! great tutorial! but theres just one thing that keeps happening to my content aware fill and i have no idea how to fix it. everytime i try to generate fill layer it works and it says analyzing 16% and then it stops ..? theres a warning that says "CAF: out of memory" ive tried countless of tutorials but there just seem to not have a fix for it? x
This seems like something buggy and isolated, so I would start by saving and closing project and then Quit. Power down computer, turn back on and try again in AE. 👍
This fixed the problem for me: th-cam.com/video/fzYVOEuR-N8/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=FLIXITY
Hoping can help me real quick...I am trying this but I don't get the "transparent" background you get when you hit Subtract. Mine is just black. And then the fill layer doesn't seem to work right, it just stays black. What am I missing? Using the Pen Tool as well.
Can you confirm that the black you are seeing is not the Background Color in your Composition Settings (Cmd + K) or a solid layer below? Toggle on the Transparency button below the Comp Window to see if you get the transparent Grid. Make sure to change the mask settings when doing the Content Fill.
It can get a little tricky, so maybe rewatch and give it another go as I’ve had times where things didn’t seem to be working and it was usually just a misstep on my part. Let me know. Happy to help/troubleshoot 👍
@@MikeMurphyCo It's the background color for sure, I just checked. Let me figure out that transparency button, I'm a doofus lol
@@MikeMurphyCo Yeah, I get no transparent grid, it's just the background color.
@@MikeMurphyCo GOT IT. THANK YOU Mike!!!!
@@MikeOlbinski Awesome! Glad you sorted it out. 👍
Thanks for this tutorial, I just cannot get it to work for me. When it has finished rendering the mask area is still transparent. when i double-click the fill layer the content fill is there but just will not show over the footage. Please do you have any suggestions what i need to do?
Did you follow the steps to change the Masks (Add, None, Subtract)?
@@MikeMurphyCo Hiya, yes i am only using one mask and i made sure it was at subtract when i generated the content aware fill. its like the mask and the fill are not connected
@@katelwell7690 I'd give it another try and you can maybe test it first by creating a smaller work area before going through the whole comp.
I tried to use mine to kinda fill in where I stabilized but it was just a blurry bar. Any way to 1. Make it use a specific area as reference, or even better 2. make it freeze portions? For example technically I should have that same area in some of the movement of my camera where I could just kinda map it in
I’m not 100% sure what you are trying to do, but hopefully this page can provide some insight for you on what is possible with Content Aware in AE:
helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/content-aware-fill.html
@@MikeMurphyCo Probably not Content Aware but what i'm saying is if your camera isn't stabile you will have data for area in each direction - (similar to a panorama) so could like freeze top area to fill bottom and vice versa if you stabilize the video. Was curious if that had an automatic function.
@@realMystaYou may want to look into CC RepeTile or Motion Tile Effects.
FYI, there is a Warp Stabilizer Effect that may help with your shaky footage.
@@MikeMurphyCo Unfortunately it was handheld 500mm video and I forgot to turn IS on in the lens.
hi there is no option to generate fill on my AE 2023? has all the options for content aware fill but no button to actually generate it?
I had the same trouble... just un-anchor the content aware fill panel and the button magically appears ! just another bug of AE...
@@merlinmerlette thank you i’ll try this
Hello. What if there’s more than one layer in the comp? Do I need to turn off visibility for all the others?
To use Content Aware Fill , you double-click in a layer to open it so you will not need to hide other layers.
@@MikeMurphyCo ahhh ok thanks a lot 😊
@@gerryattrik4410 You are welcome! 👍
Sir my question is I have done same way using content aware fill it rendered but finally analysis result was
MEMORY NOT ENOUGH ...ERROR....
The first thing I might try is to go to the Edit Menu and select 'Purge' and then 'All Memory & Disk Cache'. Save Project. Quit After Effects and then re-open and try again.
What version of AE are you using?
Are you working off of an external hard drive?
When I try to remove a water mark I have the artifacts in the aread where I apply Content-aware fill. Why is it so?
It’s hard for me to troubleshoot exactly what is going on as it may just be the quality of the footage, lighting, contrast, etc. You may just have to experiment with the settings and retry again and see if you make any improvements.
Hello, mine isn't working can anyone help! thanks i got this message everytime : After effects warning : content aware fill output format (png) is not supported
Happy to help and troubleshoot for you, but could you provide some more details about the exact steps you are taking and what type of footage you are using? 👍
For me my entire screen went black outside of where I selected the area with pen tool and there was never an option below none to select besides the clip itself. Also my background unlike the one above is constantly changing.
Are you still experiencing issues? What exactly are you trying to do with Content Aware Fill and what type of footage are you using? Have you watched the tutorial a few times and try to replicate the exact steps?
@@MikeMurphyCo The first time I watched it I didn't have the rest of screen go black , I tried to invert it to no avail. All I was trying to do was remove a part in my video but as I say the background keeps moving so in the end I tried again by using the fill tool in after affects but it just looked like a hot mess. So I just gave up.
can I iron a shirt with after effects? there isnt a single tutorial about it if the answer is yes
Ha! Of course AE can iron shirts. 👍
how? I tried this, it didn't do a good job@@MikeMurphyCo
a lot of garbage, simply tell the important ot how turn on the computer
Thank you for the feedback. Sorry to disappoint. ✌️
😢Hello sir i am facing the issue when i click on generate fill layer so this error occur Content aware fill Error, Initialization failed. Please help me
It can be a little finicky sometimes. I recommend Saving and Closing After Effects. Re-open and try again making sure you follow the steps I took in the tutorial. 👍
@@MikeMurphyCo yes i do this many time and as well follow your every step but don't know whats wrong by the way let me try again. Thank you sir!
@@yazdankhan8348 Ok. Let me know how you make out. If you run into issues, share the exact details so I can try to replicate the issue on my end and provide a solution. 👍
