Great vid Brendan! The reason I subbed to your channel (quite a while ago) is that like you said, you're not a professional guitar player and I can appreciate that. You have a different approach to the guitar. I have been playing (on and off) for a very long time, but only since earlier this year did I get back into it and you break things down very well for me. Due to medical problems with my hands (and memory), I forgot a huge amount of things that I used to be able to do. And it's very difficult with arthritis and neuropathy in both of my hands to play like I used to. Thank you for what you do!

Thank you Den :) I'm so glad that we were able to connect on here. It's always great to hear when my videos have an impact and it's fantastic to hear that music has found its way back into your life. Don't ever stop chasing that tone!

Concert sounded pretty fun! I love Trivium and Sabaton. Recently been getting into Sabaton. Cool Power/Heavy Metal band (yes, they're from Sweden.) I'll have to check out Huntress.
Good luck on your Amplifier hunt! I hear the Peavey 5150 is a good tube amp (haven't tried it myself). Could also go with something from Marshall for that classic 80's sound.
Nice lesson as usual and nice ending bit!
Congrats on over 160 subs! You deserve so many more! \m/ :)

+Shrub Plays Music Thanks! I need to go listen to some sabaton not live haha. I'll have to add the 5150 in there. I know they make a smaller version that would likely fit in my budget. I feel drawn to the head and cab overall combo, but I just need to go play some of both.

      ShredBox You're welcome. :)
Yeah. They are pretty good. You might also want to check out Hammerfall and Powerwolf if you haven't checked them out. :)
      Good luck on the hunt.

Hell yeah, the lead guitarist from Sabaton is my cousin haha. They're from Sweden! They've opened for Iron Maiden and the like too, they've gained great traction as a power metal band.
I have a "semi-hollowbody" Midtown custom, and I can really appreciate the center block. Helps with feedback but also with sustain, semis tend to have notes that die off quickly. I also think they're too light in weight without a center block!
The Marshall DSL40 has received great reviews, it's a very versatile amp. I'd check it out in person first though to make sure it's not too bland though, you know.

That's awesome!! Toby was killing it at that show! Good to hear the feedback about the center block idea. I haven't played one for more than about 5 minutes. I'm very heavily leaning towards the DSL from online reviews, so it's about time to go play them.

Chris is my cousin actually, the one with brown beard and hair! Cool to hear that Tommy was on fire. He joined recently so I haven't heard him play live yet, but I've heard his other music and he's got mad shredding skills. Small world!
I think for the price that the DSL40 is the best option, beyond it you'll be spending lots more on amps that only do one type of tone. I've been keen on the Vox AC30. The new one with a master volume, not a real vintage one. It's more classic rock and cleans but check it out too! Same price range as the Marshall. Oh and also, Friedman are doing boutique pedals for $200 but that sound amazing for the type of tone I think you're going for. Seems stupid much for a pedal but beats a $500-700 new amp if it does the job (kinda). Can't remember their names but look em up!

+TheSwedishUploader Gotchya. Still awesome! 😀 Small world indeed. I plan on spending pretty much an entire day plugging into everything tube in that price range, so I'll make sure the ac30 goes on my list too. Friedman pedals look great! That price is high, but at one point I was considering that range for the protone dead horse. EPIC pedal for driving into metalgasms a little harder.
