Avast Marine puts together some pretty sweet stuff no doubt about that. However, after watching this I'm essentially looking at a 5 gallon bucket with a carbon filter on top and a fancy float switch. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to bad mouth Avast but it seems east though a DIY savvy fellow such as yourself could put something like this together for A LOT more affordable than $179.

When you open the waste container to empty, the float goes low which turns your skimmer on. So doesn't that waste flow onto your floor while you're empty the 5 gallon container?

I have a delay timmer on the skimmer so it won't just kick back on. It takes a month to fill this collection.

I dont understand how this sensor works...i just installed mine and i cant get the switch to trigger from open to close. Dry or wet the switch does not move...what kind of sensor is it?
