    Good to hear 14k and going strong. I’m at 4500 the first year. Taking off 2 weeks in November to go down and enter the Baja 1000. License plate and all. If I make out alive I have hope to put that many miles and more on BDRs etc...

    I think you have actually built the unicorn bike that everyone dreams about but no manufacturer has yet developed. I recently bought a 300 Rally because I suck off road on my Tiger 900 and I wanted to experience lightweight riding. I'm now hooked on the Honda but wishing for a 450 Rally even with the short intervals. Good thing is I'm teaching my adult son to ride the 300 and since my bike social group has gone from long distance trips to trailering I may dump the Triumph and get or build my own enduro/dual sport/light adventure.

    I bought the adventure spec fairing. Surprised at how much wind deflection it has given me especially as I’m 6ft 7. Easy install and space for a few gadgets and 2 USB Chargers. Quick question / what frame guards did you fit? I can’t find anything specific for a 450l. Awesome video as always John. Cheers

    Great effort on the video and the bike! You have enjoyed modifying the bike as much as we have enjoyed following along for the ride. Your bike is AWESOME! Ride on John! I now have my 2021 CRF 450 RL and your videos have been VERY helpful for small issues with fitting various modifications.
    So far it is everything I had hoped it would be. More enjoyable than my previous KTM 450's in terms of maintenance and driveability, just that little bit more...mmmmm ...relaxed. Enjoying the vast weight reduction from the African Twin and I am very happily surprised at the gearing for highway speeds. Really a very VERY capable machine. Many thanks. As we get more freedom to safely travel and to ride farther a field again over the coming months I will continue to check in with you and share any interesting experiences on the Honda. Cheers

    Im tring to work out how many days your getting between oil changes?

    • @JohnTYoung
      @JohnTYoung  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is very terrain dependent, but let's call it 150 to 200. I aim for oil changes at 600 to 1000 miles, or whenever I'm near a place I can dispose of it properly.

    • @JohnTYoung

    Hi John. Great Vid, I am patiently saving/waiting till I can build a reproduction of your config. One question though, and I apologize if you've covered this before. Couldn't oil changes be extended if there were simply more oil in / looping through the system? Not sure how to do it, but my old 85 Honda Nighthawk S used the frame to carry oil up to a frame mounted oil cooler. So I am thinking that a section of the 450 frame could be cordoned off, fittings added, and a doubling or tripling of the volume be done without adding an auxiliary tank. What ya think? Anyone else got ideas? This would really eliminate the only real pain this bike currently has IMHO. Cheers!

    Can’t see why the Honda won’t be as durable as the EXC500. Honda arguably has better build quality, EXCs are easily going many hundreds of hours with only minor maintenance. I have altered mine and everything I read says they will last for a long time. Here in Australia, Honda has pulled the 450 from the market. Pity, it was a great idea let down by some poor decisions ie ecu, power, fuel range and a ridiculous new price. I would have bought one.
