Notice the part where he says that DJs used to present new music to the audience. Now the crowd is holding up their phones trying to get the DJ to play the stuff on their phone. Back in the day we used to go to clubs and look forward to the DJ introducing us to music that we did not hear all the time on the radio. So the set would end up being some familiar radio songs but also some very good songs that we didn't hear everyday or at all. It sucks nowadays because at most venues the DJs are expected to play what people are familiar with and this causes most DJ sets to be almost the same.
