Almost got the 50/2 for my new (to me) SL2-S but ended up going with an adapter and the Zeiss 50/2 ZM after watching some of your previous reviews. Loving this combo.
I've owned the Sigma 35 1.4 & 85 1.4 Art DG DN's since they came out. I also just sold my Sony 50 1.2 and bought the Sony 50 1.4 GM (for size & weight). I'd say they're pretty comparable, but the Sigma is a tab warmer. That being said, I would seek to sell my Sigma 35 at some point and move to the Sony 35 GM (again due to size and weight). BTW, I did try the Sigma 65 F2 Contemporary and really like the form factor and performance. I did recently pickup a Sigma Contemporary 45 2.8 for my a7c for travel and street. Again, I think Sigma has a great line up in this Contemporary Series - especially with their primes.
Big fan of Sigma's Contemporary line on my Leica SL. Own the 24, 35 and 45mm. Maybe you can find out why modern 50mm f/1.4 lenses are so YUGE Benj? Compared to Nikon and Canon DSLR 50mm f/1.4s, the size of these mirrorless behemoth lenses is inconceivable. Forget comparing them to your Leica 50mm Summilux!
Huge difference in chromatic aberration though. Everything is relative though. Some people pay 750 more dollars to go from 24 MP to 33 MP in a camera body. And difference in CA are far more visible than differences in resolution.

Great video. I currently have the LUMIX 50mm 1.8. Have you been able to compare that lens with the Sigma F2?
dude how did you release the exact video I have been looking for today. THANK YOU. I just bought an SL2-S and am looking at the 50 f2!
Hell yeah I own the 50mm f2 for the leica and I am very happy with my purchase.
Hi Ben, you should do a "Best value 35mm lenses for M & M39/LTM" video, just saying. 🙂
Can someone explain me why Sigma lenses are around 200 Euro more expensive in L mount (compared to Sony mount)
Yeah, would love to know why this is the case also......

For Sony, any new 50mm is a hard sell when the Zeiss 55mm is still so good can be bought second hand for $300.
I'd take the Sigma Art f1.4s over the Sony GMs. Not much difference in image quality, focusing and loads cheaper

28 1.4 DG DN PLEASE SIGMA
I'm shouting it from the rooftops to every camera industry person I meet.
@@benjhaisch supposedly canon has one coming but we all know its going to be $2200...
Definitely would get the Sony 50mm 1.4. Smaller lens for s few hundred dollars more. The Sigma lens are just to big.
