I think Ramses ll is among the most important Pharoahs, he accomplished many great things, reigned for 34 years, and was known even in ancient times as Rameses the great. Tutankhamen is more famous today, but he was a very minor Pharoah in ancient times.

It seems to me that King Tut's tomb was thoughtfully determined to be the most appropriate resting place for the young King.
Some will no doubt argue that he died suddenly, and they put him in the most available tomb.
I base my logic on the following information:
    1. His dad was disgraced. The bloodline was impure due to Akenaten's transgressions.
    2. One of Tut's royal throne seats (chair) has the sun disk with the ray's descending upon the Royal. This may convey that Tut worshipped several man-made gods.
    3. There are many apes drawn on the walls in his tomb. To my knowledge, apes represent knowledge or wisdom.
If so, those paintings alone seem to sum up his royal standing amongst those with power. It suggests that although he is of the seed of a heretic, a misfit, Tut overcame his dad's faults, misdeeds and regained order to the chaos brought on by Akenaten.
I can further state, Tut's royal family line could have been purposely cut off permanently by those who would not permit another rogue Pharoah to rule Egypt. King Tut had no living heirs.
His tomb was thoughtfully determined to give an amount of reverence to the boy King, but not absolute allegiance.
