Does "Gladiator" give anyone else similar feelings as "Lord of the Rings" does? Let me know what you think... Also next week will be a reaction "Django Unchained"!
The acting from Connie Nielsen (Lucilla) is something I paid more attention to than other times I've watched and it amazes me the level of emotion that runs through out the film. The love of her father, the fear of her brother, her hope for her son. It is portrayed so brilliantly
Lucilla is on a tightrope, especially because of Commodus. You may notice several times she mixes a draught for her brother -- not poisonous, but to put him to sleep, to stop his incestuous advances toward her. She delivers the film's most poignant line: "Go to them."
If the Emperor wanted to spare the life of the Gladiator who lost, he would either make a closed fist or he would indicate with a thumbs-down gesture, indicating that the winning Gladiator should lay down their sword. On the other hand, the thumbs-up signal, back in Ancient Rome, was what is known as infestus pollex, or "hostile thumb." Essentially, the thumbs-up was equivalent to the messaging of today's middle finger: it was a threat and an insult.
That's cool. I knew vaguely about the thumbs up vs thumbs down but didn't know about the fist or that thumbs up was a obscene hand gesture which is crazy. Thanks for the info!
hi...i appreciate your reactions and reviews ...just on a side note on a technical aspect...i believe there is a low frequency buzz emitting from your gear which is a bit too loud...it was on your exorcist reaction video as well...just wanted to let you know...i still enjoy your vids eventhough i have to take out the lows on my EQ...hope you get through the troubleshoot...( it could be feedback)
The senator hoping to free Commodus is one of at least a pair of brothers, last name of GRACCHUS (grack-uss), who, like Marcus Aurelius, wanted to give Rome (and the empire) back to the people, not the powerful politicians.

Lotr came out in 2001 so there's probably a lot of similarities in filmmaking style from that era!
@@shinjite06 that's kinda what I was thinking
no
@@orangewarm1 idk, maybe I'm in the minority
Reminds me more of "The Godfather." Kill anybody who could come later looking for revenge.

I 100% agree. That something I thought about too and I'm not sure why I didn't mention it. I think it was Oscar worthy

Russell Crowe not only did his own stunts, he was an expert horseman. He lost 40lbs training for Gladiator.
That's awesome... wish I was 40lbs lighter, lol

I appreciate the help, I've been uncertain how fix it. I'm gonna turn down the recording software and mic and turn it up in editing

Because you, I looked him up. Thank you😁
Finger up and down not exist in history. But movie is classic.
It truly is entertaining. Great fight sequences and violence. I love it
