    0:25 that is the original design we were taught in the 1950s, very simple and no springs! Counter clockwise from right-to-left it locks and makes the EXTERNAL gear moves, clockwise from left-to-right the INTERNAL GEAR connected to a pedal stops moving and cannot make any reverse movement on the external gear and the external gear keeps on moving forward. This design is the original and simpler design.

    In the mechanism shown at 1:09, what is actually stopping the blue part.
    I mean whether it is due to some friction effect or force couple due to rolling of balls or something else?
