    Hello my Friend, I am 70 years old with very very BAD arthertis. Having coffee and watching your videos kinda makes the pain go away for a bit. Your channel and the Veggie Boys & Broyland Farms are the BEST channels that I enjoy watching. I use to have a Big garden with all types of stuff but now its a LAWN. PLEASE keep up the GOOD work, speaking for myself nothing better than having coffee in the morning with you and the other Farmers. Love the squeaking of the peppers when you pick them, somebody told me if they don't squeak they are not fresh.

    You have more weeds than pepper plants

    • @wishwellfarms
      @wishwellfarms  หลายเดือนก่อน

      We are not organic, but we do use organic growing methods in all of our greenhouses. The weeds in the Pepper patch just got out of control this year, once you get behind there’s no catching up but believe it or not the best peppers were in amongst the weeds!

    Which crops do you irrigate and which ones you don't. From other videos you don't irrigate corn,green beans (so far) .. what else ...
    Why don't you plant more green beans for wholesale? You have machine for harvesting and another 1000+ acres. Why do you only plant for retail?
    Thank you, for this and other videos.

    • @wishwellfarms
      @wishwellfarms  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Correct, I don’t really have overhead irrigation unless I set up my solid set aluminum pipes and pump from my pond, but that is basically stationary for frost control on our strawberries that we used to grow. We are only set up to pump out of our well with drip tape Irrigation under the plastic. We grew pumpkins for 24 years and they were never irrigated either.
      As far as Wholesale green beans, it would be too risky without overhead irrigation as at least 1/3 of our Crop every year gives us terrible yields due to lack of rainfall and I’m not confident that we would be able to fulfill our obligation to deliver enough Wholesale beans without Irrigation. We normally only get three or four weeks of good yields each year in the middle of the season. Yes you are right in that we could probably grow and harvest 20 or 30 or even 40 acres with our land and that harvester, but far too much risk without proper irrigation. Plus, I am far too busy growing and harvesting our other crops. We would have to hire a full-time guy to run the machine every day and we would have to have a dedicated packing shed just for the beans and more cooler space and a way to hydro cool them…The list goes on and on for reasons we’re not able to do that.

      I’m sorry to hear that. But that is the reality of a vegetable farm, there are hundreds and thousands of items that rot in the field and go unharvested on every farm around the world. We try to send extras to the food bank, but it’s not always easy because they’re often full. The pepper he was eating had several bad spots on it and was going to be thrown away anyways. We kept all the good ones for our Markets.
