Just finished a 2 week drive around Iceland in a Jimny. It was a perfect companion and took me anywhere I wanted to go.
I always loved the Jimny, or the Samurai, as it was known in the non japanese world by most of us having grown up on it.
I made first contact as a child of about 7y, in 1981. And this car provided the finest memories of any car I remember from my childhood, among all the Golf Is, Audi Ur-quattros, or even my moms Brezel Käfer.
I have so many memories envolving this cutest of cute cars, every single one makes me smile, making me happy.
I first considered finally buying one last year, when I recovered from a lethal injury, realising that life is the the most precious good there is.
And I considered buying the previous one. A perfect car in technical terms, as we all know, but in terms of visual design, far behind the early models.
And here we have it, finally...
This here all new Jimny will not only be known for being the most off road capable car of all, but it already is a design classic, and this means DESIGN, not car design.
It is up with the Eames, the Aaltos, the E30, all of the non-arguable classics in design. And this considering we have not even experienced it with our own eyes.
This little thing transports all of the true and honest worthiness of life.
This is the manifestation of emotion.

Yeah! JIMNY!!!!!!! its true, the little Jimny is perfect going around woods and spots big 4x4 will have a hard time, ones with traction devices like lockers or LSD is AWESOME!

Having owned many cars throughout my years, such has Mercedes, Audi, VW I am now in a Jimny. Each vehicle has it's merits and I would not want to knock the vehicles I have owned for they have been what they are at certain times in my motoring history but, the Suzuki Jimny is something else. Yes it it small, it has a smaller engine but it is also economical, easy to maintain, nimble, capable, truly excellent off road in all weathers and easy to live with on road. It may not give me speed on the major roads, it may be slower and it has quirky handling but, if one adjusts ones mind to this and adapts; it is still a vehicle that will get you to your destination. Above all, it is the only vehicle that brings a smile to my face when driving. Mine is a 2011 and I have hope that the new generation Jimny will sustain such practicality, reliability and a refreshing joy to drive.
Miss my old jimny
So many people want the Jimny in the US, some regulations prevent that but I think is more to protect the domestic cars. If the the Jimny meets the "regulations", Jeep better keep an eye on sales for the Wrangler, sales will drop for them with this little 4x4 again in the market.
A lot more dependable than the jeep too and better price point
I like the work the designers did. Went back to old generations of Jimny and take the old design elements with a modern twist. They didn't hesitate doing it. Nice looking car

I think this would do really well in the US. If the Jeep Renegade is any indication they would be flying off of dealer lots. I would certainly buy one!
Sadly, Suzuki no longer has a dealership network in the US; they don't sell cars here anymore, just light trucks and motorcycles.
The Renegade is literally the 500X with another body. Both are awful pieces of garbage. The new Jimmy is smaller and much more offroad-friendly!

I just test drove this car today and it was awesome. Interior quality was quite impressive.
Salesman said it has already got so many back orders and have to wait for 12month to get delivered.
A Sam I only drove around the city so I cannot talk about highway.
The ride was quiet and comfortable(maybe standard comfort tire helped a lot).
I didn't feel any uncomfortable noise while driving, even when i went cross the gap at around 50kph.

We bought a XL7 new in 2001 in the US and still have it roughly 20 years later. It's the most reliable vehicle we've ever had and we promise to be the most loyal Suzuki fans if they ever come back to the United States.

Suzuki, your cara are loved and everywhere in my country Puerto Rico. Until 2013 when you left. Now you bring the favorite 4x4 Jimny (Samurai, is everywhere here) and We can’t have it. I hope to see Suzuki make a strong return to the US market. I love the Jimny and the Swift, but I most move the Every van platform. They are just so cool. I fell in love with them while living in Philippines.

They dont meet usa safety standards for some lame reason so they wont be importing them but they are trying to do something through Toyota with them to get themmpassed for usa in a few years I read if demand is high enough
