    1)Stipe is always the underdog

    He Is The G.O.A.T

    Even with all the 1st round KO's that Ngannou has piled up since Stipe destroyed him, it is a false narrative that he has improved since then. Ngannou is the EXACT SAME FIGHTER he was 2 1/2 years ago. He is a one-trick pony. He needs to KO his opponent early. That is his ONLY path to victory and he knows it. That's why he threw caution to the wind and charged at Rozenstruik with his chin up throwing wild punches. He knows if the fight goes long, he is doomed. Based on the Stipe fight, Ngannou has roughly 3 minutes in his gas tank. That's it. He was a zombie by the end of the 1st round. Do people think Ngannou has turned into a wizard on the ground? Yeah, right. If Stipe gets him down, he ain't getting up. Stipe took some big shots from Ngannou in that 1st round. Not only couldn't he KO Stipe, HE COULDN'T KNOCK HIM DOWN. You can't compare Stipe the GOAT to the other guys Ngannou has KO'd. There is a reason Stipe has 6 belts on his shelf and those other guys don't.

    • @aarondowd8197
      @aarondowd8197 4 ปีที่แล้ว +71

      But don't forget Stipe is 38 now. That's old for a fighter. Stipe is unlikely to finish Ngannou so he'd have to go 25 minutes without getting caught with a bomb which is easier said than done. I expect Ngannou to be a little more patient in a rematch so he'll have more energy throughout the fight and will explode in quick bursts every once in a while.

    • @jonbonesmahomes7472
      @jonbonesmahomes7472 4 ปีที่แล้ว +62

      Well. I can agree in some things with you but man, have to know Ngannou improved in some other aspects of the fight.
      He will be smarter this time around, he will not gas himself out in the first round.
      His tactics will be a bit different and that makes him more dangerous.
      Ngannou can always knock Stipe out if he connects properly but its not that easy to do.
      Obviously, Stipe will wrestle and try to make him tired, but for first 2 or maybe 2and half rounds Ngannou will be dangerous.

    Reasons why Stipe would be an underdog vs Francis:
    1) Ngannou's chin is better than Stipe's. Ngannou has never been ko'd or tko'd.
    2) The most probable way this fight will end is a finish by a tko or ko, and there's an over 60% chance that Ngannou is the one who'll finish.
    It's simple mathematics really (in my opinion of course). Sure, it didn't happen the first time, so what?
    3) Ngannou already faced Stipe and now knows his gameplan/vibe. He can make simple strategic adjustments and overcome Stipe this way. He doesn't even HAVE to get better technically or whatever because he can use his experience from the first fight. For starters, he can simply work on improving his gas tank.
    4) With #3 aside, it's more probable that Ngannou has improved more than Stipe. Stipe having eye health issues and just not being able to train as much is a factor.
    5) In the first fight, it was the first time that Ngannou was in a mega-fight. Nerves quite possibly might've gotten to him. I believe he'll be mentally tougher this time.
    6) There is an age advantage, and it's not in Stipe's favor.
    7) No two fights are the same, many times has a person won the first encounter but lost the next two. Stipe will beat Francis just because he already has is just shit logic.
    8) Punching power favors Ngannou.
    9) The "GOAT" title is based on past achievements, it has much less influence in the present let alone the future. When GSP fought Matt Serra for the rematch, he was already the welterweight GOAT at that time skill-wise, nobody just knew it yet. Ngannou can be the next GOAT, probably not, but he can, or just simply someone who can beat Stipe at least.
    p.s I'm also not ocnvinced Stipe is the GOAT yet anyway. If he beats Ngannou, he will be. Stipe vs DC 3 wasn't a fight for GOAT status, this is, at least for stipe.
    I'm probably forgetting some, but those were just a few of my reasons that I'll believe that Ngannou will beat Stipe.

    Good stuff Chael, you are right. I believe that media and partially UFC staff are hyping Ngannou since he is younger and his wins are usually knockouts. They start talking about how hard he hits blah blah... But Francis in my opinion doesn´t have a heart of champion. When he is not able to knock out his opponent and gets tired he is lost. We have seen it against Stipe and against Derrick Lewis. I think Stipe beats him again, even if he has improved takedown defence, because if Stipe can pin him against the fence, he will gas eventually..Stipe also hits pretty damn hard and in clinch with couple of elbows, who knows how he react once he get´s some cut..Regarding Jon Jones, the queston is how his cardio and movement will be affected by gaining allt those muscles. Also he isn´t exactly known for having punching power at LHW, will it be much better att HW? Can he take a punch by true HW? I am excited for Anthony Johnson´s comeback, hopefully at LHV.

    Tons of respect for Uncle Chael for putting it out there!! Why the heck Stipe is always the underdog? Ngannou was tamed like an animal in the last fight and he hasn't proven he can last 5 rounds since then (he didn't really have to for the most part), so there is very little evidence that his gas tank has improved which is the most crucial factor along with Stipe's chin. As for Jones, he is just avoiding the Reyes fight to protect his LHW legacy, he knows he would lose. If he thinks conquering HW division would be just like LHW, he is seriously mistaken.

    Ngannou has openly said that he has since gone back to the drawing board regarding his training after his 2 consecutive losses. He's next 4 fights he didnt need to show what he can do if taken down because it's only taken him 2m42secs to win all 4 of those fights via ko/tko. If you watch the stipe or Derrick Lewis fights he rushes to get that punch in which was to his detriment, i think if he paces himself and becomes patient in his approach he will be deadly.
    Stipe would have to rely on take downs to win, but it takes that one shot from Ngannou to do serious damage. Would be a good fight none the less, and I'd put my money on Ngannou, definitely not the same fighter he was when he fought stipe 2.5 years ago.

    I'm of the mindset that if Ngannou is next for the title, I would like to see him rematch Lewis first. Not just because Lewis is the only blemish on Ngannou's record since he fought Stipe but also because Ngannou is the only blemish on Lewis' record since he fought Cormier. So, Ngannou v. Lewis II will literally be the #1 contender fight to make; IMO. Which will give Stipe some well deserved time off.

    Something should be said about the amount of ring time and experience either fighter has. In their respective last 12 fights, if my math is right, Stipe has had 2 hours, 2 minutes and 34 seconds in the Octagon, while Francis has had 1 hour, 7 minutes and 20 seconds.
    In that time, Stipe has thrown 1,843 punches and landed 696 significant strikes. And Francis has thrown 444 strikes and landed 150 significant strikes. Stipe has also weathered the storm with Francis and dominated the fight last time, and Francis has only gone the distance one more time after their fight and lost that decision.
    Something tells me if they fight again, Stipe’ sting experience and ability to weather the storm will show and he’ll win again.
    Something tells me that Francis will need to slim down to probably 255 in order to maintain the cardio of a potential 5 round fight. I think Stipe would go to about 242 for that fight. A little more weight to be able to take down Francis.

    No Stipe isn't the underdog but the UFC will market the fight that way and try desperately to convince fans that the fight will go differently from the last time but the only way this rematch will be different is that Stipe will finish it in the first round and he'll allow Dana to wrap the strap around him. I mean seriously can there be anyone who isn't the most casual of fans who believes that NGannou can beat him? I mean seriously?

    • @lukeinvictus

      I think you would have to be a casual to not know that at the top of the sport both fighters have paths to victory. Stipe is a great fighter but hes getting up there in age and Ngannou is just starting in this sport. The rematch could go either way.
